In this episode, we return to the Market Street Power Plant. Last time we were here, we only were inside for a few seconds before setting off an extremely loud alarm. You can watch that video here: • Set Off Loud Alarms at...
This time however, we found that the security situation was quite different, and we were able to make it inside and explore the entire plant!

Why hello there.
Second link in the description (for the original video) is not working

That alarm may be broken, but it was hella effective
Yeah lol it sounded like a dying dog
Someone should add that sound effect to a Sirenhead clip.
I bet it was sirenhead 😅
Sounded like a damn wendigo
imagine hearing that in a dark building alone at night
22:27 i was half expecting that scrapper to tell them to leave, but he was surprisingly chill and rather ok with them being there!
Maybe I'm mistaken but the term scrapper means they are going into a building not belonging to them to get scrap for cash, so why would they have authority to tell these guys to leave ???
@@hanza4348 They have the authority because they're armed and don't want to share the building with rival scrappers or nosey people that might blow their cover - it's the same way with illegal miners, moonshiners, grow ops, drug labs, etc etc. This is their territory.
@@platyhelminthes2877 I would have left and reported them ASAP. Stupid trash.
@@crazyguy5880 That would be the responsible thing to do - but would likely implicate you for trespassing, as well.
It never ceases to amaze me how easily these old buildings flood. Watching this videos thinking about how people used to work right where there is easily 6 foot of water in some areas is crazy.
I used to live in New Orleans and saw this building every day on my way to work
Those are tubes in the condenser. Cool river water comes in through the tubes, and hotter water or steam is on the shell side. The shell side condenses, and goes back into the hotwell (storage tank that is used as make-up in the feedwater system).
With the rain everywhere making everything wet it definitely gives BioShock vibes.
3:20 the throughback though🤩🤩🤩
Great exploration. Just be careful jumping into high windows.
Imagine if the seagull sirens came back on
That was a truly freaky sounding siren or alarm that you set off at 3:22 on the counter. Just the sound of it would be enough to get rid of me, it was almost like an audio attack.
That loop is called an Hartford loop.
I guess most those Demon Seagull sounding alarms are gone now, thank the lord
Yes. The sensors are still here but most, if not all alarms are gone.
That alarm sounded like a demon seagull giving off a battle cry.
well it is new orleans
Siren Head
what
I have to keep repeating that noise it's insane
KC Debris to me it sounded like a horror movie jump-scare noise.
i love the rain explore so much, it gives the video a whole different vibe.
Super relaxing and chill
Except for that part where it almost became a slasher/snuff film. D:
This and that recent mountain ghost town/them park are memorable because of the rain and the atmosphere. It makes this legitimately dangerous and dilapidated plant seem weirdly relaxing.
Yes, it's true.
Yea, I was also surprised that it sounded like binaural audio. It sounded like the splashes, droplets, and clangs were coming from different directions. They didn't used to have that did they?
Anyways, they really stepped up the sound quality and I love it!
I’ve tried watching other “UrbEx” channels but they either have too many people exploring or they won’t stfu. I keep coming back to your channel for a reason.
Or other channels are just clickbaiters. Proper people entertain and teach you the history of the location
Lorde explores, Dan Bell, Bright Sun Films are a few other good guys
i know, other channels just make stupid comments all the time
David Swick I’ll have to check them out.
As previously mentioned, I too like how they (proper people) educate you on the environment they’re exploring.
No other urbex channel has such badass intro music too.
Hopefully the pterodactyl isn't home this time.

Penelope Button scrapping is removing metal then sold to scrap yard
For those who are curious as to why there was alarms in this building, it's because they filmed part of the movie "Looper" here.
that's so cool ;o
never even heard of the movie, but it looks cool.
That’s awesome, I loved that movie
Jordan Mackie super sick! Thanks
Very cool. It'd be awesome to find the movie clip where they put the alien stickers over the gauges too
8:35 I love how you just take a moment to admire the ironwork form and talk about it with clear passion. Is really nice to have this serene moment of seeing beauty amongst what so many would see as intense or grey.
It’s them knowing details like this and seeing them learn more over the years is exactly what keeps me coming back. Learning about the architecture and history is what’s so fascinating to me
I enjoy seeing another young person enjoy architecture
Imagine flicking those switches then suddenly the turbine roars to life. lol
Imagine hooking these abandoned plants back up to a power supply and a fuel supply and just seeing what happens. Pumping an old busted ass water tube boiler with some fuel and water and watching what happens
yeah id try and fire up the old diesel backups lying around i can see them in the background and i love big engines

I mean, I would be kind of frightened too.
have you ever been to any remote areas of NOLA?
It'd be cool if you had the chance to go back to that asylum that had the power on where you turned the PC on and left your names in a text file. Be interesting to see if anyone else found it.

I agree, usually, they're like "Uh-oh, scrappers, we better go before they shoot us and bury our bodies in the basement"
That’s because it’s the south. Down here we’re chill.

Holy buckets, I was nervous watching you guys cross that tiny wood platform. Be safe guys, Michael your wild man jeez! Bryan was sitting down there thinking, "gonna have to change our name to The Proper Person If my boy slips..." Stay safe my good men! Another awesome explore!!
No kidding! That was terrifying! 😳
I like the guy is all giving them advice and sharing his wisdom. "Be careful" "Keep an eye out" "Be aware of your surroundings", etc.
Bryan and Mike: Uh, yeah, thanks. (We totally don't do this for a living.)
It's so adorable how introverted they are. I'd so rather watch this than watch someone scream at my face for ten minutes strait. The content is the perfect amount of relaxing as it is entertaining.

Yeah
Glad to finally get to see the inside, but it's so sad how mutilated it is 😞 would've loved to see some of these places in their prime!
It's kinda ironic they disabled this water-powered plant at the time the world was hit by the first oil crisis (the second happaened 6 years later).

(25:01) that loop is a Horseshoe or lyre loop, it is an expansion loop, and stops condensate from accumulating and travelling along with the steam in the pipes.
I genuinely worry for y'all trusting old, rusted & decaying metal to hold your weight.
I work at a steel mill, and know a few people who have actually fallen through metal walkways that have rusted away. And that’s a running steel mill. Imagine how decayed an abandoned one
Calling them fat? lol

Yeah, my friend put his foot through the rusty bed of an old trailer once. He was wearing shorts and it cut his calf up really bad, to the bone in one part. Not pretty

IKS, Great you take the time to watch other explorers' activities. Of course, IKS is does their own share of honorable explores, too.
Rain always adds an interesting dynamic during explores; particularly when it's raining INSIDE a building!

I'm just gonna chill in my chair and watch this vid.
You and your chair, just chillin'
I'm gonna stand and do coke from a motorcycle chain.
The scrapping just make this place seem haunted, as if the generators are trying to scream to life again
The pipe with a loop is designed that way to compensate for thermal expansion so it doesnt crack and break from heat and pressure,
19:00 and the fans still spin. Man those are some good bearings
Love your pfp btw
When things were made reliably.
120 years almost and they keep on going... wowww........
They must’ve been packed tighter than a Super Bowl stadium to keep the elements out for so long
Ik a factory across my street that has fans still spinning, makes it 10x more eerie!
I'm impressed with how quickly you turned tail when that siren went off. I have enough wartime PTSD where I'd have just froze for about 10 seconds while my brain interprets all the data.
The mom in me was having a heart attack watching you climb over that sketchy railing. 😳😳😳
10:00 that is actually a make shift shower! Homeless people are running water from a nearby building
Gang
How do they get running water from a nearby building?
ClonkAndre _ they use a couple of houses and the extenders.
The sirens at 7:07 reminded me of an old factory me and a friend explored two years ago. We heard sirens which stopped _really_ close to our location so we assumed it was police and booked it, only to realise about 300ft from the building that there was a hospital maybe a quarter mile away from us and the sirens were actually _ambulances._ We even passed the hospital on our way to the factory.
Only OG’s seen the first time they visited this when it first came out
Imagine how cool and authentic it would look if it wasn't peppered by graffiti and stuff...
I was hoping the switching room being sealed off meant it would be Moslty unharmed... Man that's sad to see it obliterated like that.
4:32 - Did you guys get a pic of that gorgeous Day of the Dead painting?? I'd love that on my phone wallpaper!! 💜🤞🤓
LOL Bryan looks like he's been living off grid for a few years....until Harry's came along.
I've encountered some very nasty people exploring abandoned places before. Glad it went cordial for you guys, great video as always
3:20 dang that alarm scared me
oof this thing sounds freaking weird
I live like 4 miles away from the plant it's an amazing place I have great stories from there. I've been chased by a homeless man with a pipe to a homeless dude on all fours running around. But besides that it's great
Proper people: oh hey let's go into this building *sets of alarm that sounds like a possessed seagal*

The acrobatics of some taggers to make their mark is pretty impressive.
Just an observation, you guys film and act differently when you have guests with you.

Whenever I see those places I try imagining how it must have been like working there during its last few years. Run-down, leaky, old equipment, barely working. Dark industrial factory-like halls, dust and deafening noise everywhere.
At 31:07 you can see the handiwork of the infamous graffiti “artist” of New Orleans, Reznor Achoo Earl! A lot of people would like to get their hands on that guy because he defaces people’s homes, not just abandoned buildings.
Very cool to see, also as a current operator at a coal power plant, impressed at some of the knowledge you have of the vessels at all the generating stations you visit. Keep the vids coming! We watch them from our control panel lol.
omg i wouldve been terrified being in there with all of the scrappers
Sometimes you gotta go big or go home if you're a scrapper
That is quite possibly the most terrifying sound I've ever heard
Be careful there a crazy homeless man chased my friend outta their with a hachet
@L Rowe sorry It doesn't sound realistic but we call the place "the stacks" we would hang there every weekend and take pictures and shit. It was after a friends hangout for his birthday. Two of my buddies had to leave early and they were confronted by a man with a hachet, they had to run out of the building and while there were getting in their jeep he threw the hachet at the window shattering the windshield but not going through. This place is extremely sketchy, however really cool and beautiful if you get to the top
Ironically, before the video, I legit got an ad for a local company that does fire and burglar alarms
i'm watching all the ads boys.. :D ads then urban exploring haha

@@CANControlGRAFFITI yup you know the score as I'm always staggered at people who complain about ads in RUclips videos when they can just get a free add on depending on their browser to get rid of the ads as I haven't seen an ad on here for years now
Please remember most squatters probably won't hurt you. I used to walk around an abandoned YMCA with a metal pipe, just in case. This sounds awful but they're just as afraid of you as you are of them.

Is there a video of this place when it was in it's glory days? Comparing the 'then' and 'now' are real interesting to see.
I think this place started to decay around 2011 when they shut the place down permanently. It would’ve been a sight to see if we got to see it working at least in the early 2000’s
If I was your mum and watched you do that tightrope walk, I’d not be able to breathe! You guys are bad ass 🤘
I realize this is completely out of nowhere, even off the wall, but when I saw those lights way up near the catwalks and platforms at 9:16, a question popped into my mind: "How the _hell_ did they ever change the bulbs in them!?" (I'm a model railroader working in O scale [1/4"=1'], building on an early 1900s brick railroad enginehouse and I'm going to install non-working industrial lights, similar to those, hanging from the collar beams of the roof trusses, so I'm curious.) Seeing the blades of exhaust fans, like those at 19:00, whirling in the breeze always amazes me; they must have wonderful bearings to be that free-moving after 50 years!
