If halal chicken fat is used instead of lard, Muslims can buy and eat carrot cake. I know it will sell well because its like char kue tiau... there are halal well selling versions without use of lard or lap cheong.

Yes. In parts of KL and PJ (maybe in malacca as well if memory serves), it's called chai Tao koay. Didn't know it was called char koay kak in Penang until recently. The other dish you mention, deep fried radish cake is called loh bak ko.
Actually there's no pork or pork lad in it. Its all vegetables and eggs. So yeah i will say its halal without a halal logo, thats all. If a halal logo thats matters for u, then this is not for u. If u dont mind a food cooked by anyone but as long as no pork in it, then you can try as my Malay friends tried it and they loved it.
Sorry Sir/Ms, it's not halal, cuz it do contain pork oil and pork lad. Even though some times customers might request don't use pork oil and don't want pork lad, it's still consider ok for Healthy vegan, but not ok for religious ppl. thanks for asking and understanding^^

Yes, it's penang-talk for chai tao kueh (teochew/hokkien) in the southern part malaysia and singapore.
Nop, Chai Tao Kway is deep fried and contain Carrot or Yam in it, not fried with mince carrot.
