It was banned by the ASA for being "Irresponsible" all because a ONE person complained that it "glorified speed and encouraged dangerous driving". Sadly the ASA agreed and all the money Jaguar spent on producing this advert has gone down the drain. Have you have ever seen the Top Gear episode where they make an ad for the VW Scirocco, they were told they couldn't condone fast driving and jeremy's solution was to show the driving but show a speedo of 30? Same principle. Things have changed since the 90's very much!
Andy Kewley Exactly, in their eyes the advert should show a video of how practical, sensible and environmentally friendly the cars are. Sorry to tell them, but thats not what these cars are about.
It's a shame to ban such a nice advert. We live in a nanny state so it's to be expected unfortunately. The advert does glorify speed and racing though so I can see why they have banned it. Wouldn't stop me driving the ff hard though!
Idk they didn't want to tell us that jaguars are heavy...also the gr3 f type for gt sport weights 1.250kg but the type r can weight can be reduced to 1.402kg for some reason...
It was to do with reckless and careless driving shown. Racing, hogging the road to oncoming traffic and driving in an uncontrolled manner, crossing the lines. It's pretty obvious why it was pulled. Speeding was only part of it. Wake up.
Mark Harrison Sorry I didn't realise someone who went through a sense of humor bypass operation would read my comment so I forgot to put the disclaimer "this is a joke, any resemblance to real opinion is purely coincidental" at the end of my comment. Mark Harrison Dude, the AD was made on closed streets... not on busy roads... Wth do u mean by reckless driving !?! They ban an advert that shows fast cars.... They shud ban d car itself in tat case... wat do u think, Lambos and McLaren's too exist, duh!?!
Well it's not a fuckin Prius, of course they're gonna talk about speed. Damn politics.... But then again... There was a Prius commercial with guys running from cops... So that's weird.
If you ever see the car in person, you don't need an add to make you want it. Maybe the best looking car, with performance to match, that people can actually afford. The base F-Type goes for just over 60K, and that base has everything you could want in a car.Of course you can spend more, lots more, and upgrade to an S, R or SVR, but you don't really need to.
My wife would never agree to me having one of these beauties, she wanted me to get a "more practical" SUV. So I got the f Pace SVR. Love it. Feels like warp speed when you floor it. Nice ride when you don't. Miss my old 1998 XJ though, which lasted me until 2020. Many years of happy motoring.
David Ferrari It almost certainly was, but unfortunately there are way too many dimwits about who wouldn't know the difference between driving on a closed road or an open one.......don't get me wrong I am not saying this ad should have been banned, only coming up with a suggestion as to why it was.
***** There are plenty of reasons as to why this video could've been banned, but driving over the white lines is NOT one of them. They could simply throw up a message saying "do not attempt, professional drivers on closed roads" and it would've solved the problem. That particular clip is from the official jaguar xfrs advert that can be found all over youtube and indeed it is very visible that the car drives over the lines. Also there are plenty of car adverts where cars drive over the white lines. My guesses is that it could just be a rejected advert that someone in the jaguar office deem not good enough.

This is very discriminating because most car adverts today hint of speed and or encourage speed. Show me a car T V advertisement that does not sell on speed. Most people who buy fast cars never use the speed to its full potential. Speed is just a dream for most people. They just want more than they need and or can ever use. For most it is like buying a speed boat to drive in a swimming pool.
