Gunman your channel has turned me into a paint monster and saved me thousands of dollars now with pro results cant thankyou enough for sharing your knowledge, I now own flg5 pro lite and sata products base on your reviews thankyou .
Well done. I bought an FLG-5 following your recommendation. I am painting two 60 year old BSA motorbikes and, if I am any good with them, an old SLK sports car. As an ex-college lecturer, teaching electrical and electronic engineering for over 25 years, I really appreciate your attention to detail and the fact you are constantly trying to improve your ability at getting the message across. That is what all educators need to do. Many thanks.
Thank you for showing the art of your trade. Tuning the tools to the best of their capabilities, this is so true in my industry, IT. You don’t always have the best tools but must tune them to achieve the desired results. You’re an artist and an inspiration. Looking forward to your next video.
some guys over reduce the base to get the metallics more even then drop coat. it works too But the clear binder trick or adding intercoat clear. is a super cool way to get it even. IDK if many guys know what that is. Being from the custom paint world, I use intercoat clear like all the time. put it down before blends to eliminate the sanding scratches. before blending. You might want to make a video on that subject. The instructional stuff gets serious watch hours. I just dont do that much painting anymore so I dont have many projects coming around to do one myself.
By far the best painting channel on YT and anywhere. Thank you. Trev’s blog is brilliant for metal work and body work too so between you two, world is our oyster :) very appreciative of pros sharing their hard earned tips. Cheers!
Great comments. I agree with you. Your giving time to explain ,how and why you should do the job.I'm looking to purchase a pro/lite. For base coat, and clear. I wish you well.
I bought two flg 5s on your recommendation Gunny as I am an apprentice and haven’t looked back since 🤷🏽♂️ very good bang for the buck and some very good finishes using ppg deltron uhs clear.
Haven't been able to watch you much lately, but it's cool you're still taking the time to show us techniques. I still get some mottle using my mate's old satajet (which has a small fan pattern). I do find that setting the pressure low on the last coat helps the metallics lay properly. Cheers!
I bought the FLG-5 on your recommendation and its a brill gun, definitely valve for money and having just done a 27 coat candy cherry job on a motorbike its does a great job. Thanks for sharing your expertise and knowledge.!
although im german and dont understand realy all, i figured out that you explane very well and lots of usefull details. thanks for that. AND your attitude is - we call it "Ehrenmann" - like man of honor.
Thank you very much. Just by watching your videos my confidence at work get better and better spray painting. Lot of little mistakes I go through and I keep watching your videos I get more experience. Thanks
Soon as I got on RUclips your video was there for me today, thank you so much for caring for your viewer. Top notch in my book, looking forward to going back and watching all your videos, thanks a million for doing what you do
You're videos are usually very good but this level of detail is on another level. I'm new to the trade and I'd say this is one of the most educational vids you've done that I've seen. We need more of these.
Hi Gunny, I’ve ordered an FLG5, new to this, what compressor do I need to run the gun, only doing maybe a car panel or bike parts? I’m in Australia to but over west..cheers great content 👍🏻
done 100s of silvers then I did a GM silver nothing but trouble the flake was settling into the fluid tip between coats. Pull the trigger and have a big blob of silver shooting out
Thanks for sharing. I'm about to respray my 79 model Toyota Corona the factory mustard yellow. What gun would you recommend to do from start to finish. Cheers mate
Looks good. I have an older flg4 that I am yet to try. Just been messing around with paint and 1k clear. Can't really sand and polish the 1k very well. Going to step up to the 2k and see if there is any difference. Been learning alot from you gunny. Managed to convert my lawn tractor hood mystichrome (04 ford cobra paint) before fixing a scratch in the car, I just wanted to check the paint match.
In regards to the guy having issues with the flg5 spraying silvers, I responded to his comment as well, and i basically said everything you've said in the last few uploads, and in this vid. Hold the gun back, slow thinner, lay it on even. I haven't had issues for 5 years. Silvers, golds, chunky metallics, pearls, hs and ms clears, primer, sealers.. no issues. Maybe I'm just familiar with the gun.
Good work Gunny and a good result, keep doing exactly what you are doing, what we need is your knowledge and experience. Like you said, a paid $1000 gun shootout opinion isn't much use to most of us non-professionals.
Hey Gunny, I have flg. Can you recommend air pressure for Prato g orange metallic base and pressure for spraying clear? Both are shop line product. Thanks
I bought this off his recommendation too.I'm really bummed out because I bought it a year ago and I just started testing it. And I realize the spray fan is a half moon.I contacted spraygunsdirect see if they can replace the air cap for me even though it's been a year. Also my tekna Pro-Lite, I've wasted thousands of dollars on paint because I keep getting mottling no matter what techniques are used. I now believe that it's the gun not me. The spray pattern is spiky all around the edges
Loving the video gunny . Just brought a flg 5 from watching your vids . Sprayed a 3 stage pearl on a ford fiesta with it , surprised how well it turned out . Always learning from you gunny . 👍
Hey this video helped me in a couple of ways first and formost laying out silver metalics without modeling and second the gun review. You definetly helped find the gun for base coat on a budget. I was also wondering if you can do a review on the fuji mpc 30 ive seen some other reviews and they are all great but im not getting the answer of how will it lay down heavy metalics. I am borrowing an iwata he 400 and i dont like how it lays the metallics at all and looking for something a bit better but also on a budget
what is your overlap percentage on the silver look more than 50% for sure lol Also I have the flg 5 when painting silver or a hard to cover color I mix 1 to .9 reducer instead of 1 to 1 adding the tips you have here also helped a lot
how do you manage to tac rag the bonnet like 10-20mins later? I painted my alloy wheels not long ago, and Literally 4 hours later, it was still not possible to touch without marking the paint! mental
hi. What type of degreaser are you using to wipe down your parts? I have tried Eastwood Prep and it actually eats into my paint and causes chemical reactions! I need something to use for cleaning. Please help if anyone reads this and tell me what you use.
Mr. Gunman I'm wanting to buy a Devilbiss FLG 5. I went to the websit you recommend. I want to be able to spray base coat and clear is that doable with 1.4 tip or should I get 1.3. also what is a 3M PPS adapter select No.3 (16033) do i need it. I have spray about 6 car always use basecoat/clear and have spray with Deilbiss OMX gun. When I saw your review on the OMX. I was laughing my ass off. It really is not that bad of a gun. I really want to give the FLG 5 a try and spray some shit. I enjoy watching you video's some of the best I have seen. Great job man.
Ryan Rao he has stated the gpi is essentially a pro lite without the bells and whistles, different caps, and anodizing, hence general purpose gpi does 1.4-1.6-1.8 I have flg5 myself
Hey Gunnie. I noticed Spray Guns direct has a 1.3mm FLG... When did that come out? I thought they were 1.4mm at the smallest last time I checked? Have you tested the gun in 1.3? Will you be?
Hay man i have used the old guns before but not the gravity feed ones I just painted the front end of one of the customers cars in clear coat with the flg5 it come out really nice well happy with the job and the price of the gun cost me £90 from eBay here in U.K. I have already uploaded the video see what you think thumbs up bruv.
Bought three of these FLG5s got really good results with them. Ivebhad to keep playing with gun settings to get it spraying right but not very experienced it was like 30° C when I was spraying. Trying to find the right inlet pressure based on ambient temp.
Can Gunny or someone please help me to find paint code for the colour used on the body frames and inside of the bonnets? I've replaced the upper radiator support of a 2016 silver Camry and can't find any paint code for the colour on the frame to match the factory colour. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Good job! All regulators full open, but i dont undestand what psi/bar on regulator?) Sorry, im learning english and its bad for myself hearing english pronounciation
Great work gunny! Have you tryed course silvers through your ls400? If so how do you compare it to the dvi? I got a dv1 and it works great. The only thing is that its quiet a fast gun like the sata 5000. I have the ws400 for clear and love it. Alot more control. Thinking bout buying a ls400 if it lays the course silvers as good as the dv1. I am spraying water tho.
Hello Gunman.... GTI pro lite1.3 te10 will be good choice for silver base? or maybe cheaper FLG? At this moment i am painting Sagola 3300 gto 1.3 Tech...and this is very good gun but ... very hard to paint without panther effect in lights metalics (this aren't clouds but something like little darker stains)...i try to change distanse, pressure but without effect.

Hi, love your stuff, what psi would you set an flg5 1.4 up to do 2k acrylic high gloss? I’ve heard all sorts from 17-35 🤷🏼♂️
I like how you use clear binder to correct mottle. Instead of just reducer. I like using intercoat clear which is basically clear binder. same thing.
Bought a SGK 600 BV today after watchin gunny, im no paintet but im excited & cant wait to paint my 180, hope all goes well, cheers gunny
this is the reason this channel is so good i have bought guns on you recommendation and to know there is real help from the real world is great

Great video Gunny, I really like these instructional videos mate. 👍
He needs to either play with the air pressure valve or add the correct amount of 2k reducer to the paint (till it drips freely off the stick).
Great jobs you do what are you spraying on before tacking off
Thanks
Loving the video gunny . Just brought a flg 5 from watching your vids . Sprayed a 3 stage pearl on a ford fiesta with it , surprised how well it turned out . Always learning from you gunny . 👍
What are you using for pre-wipe liquid and cloth wipe ? Enjoy your videos, always something new to learn!
Great video!
I've never had any issues with silvers using FLG-5. Bought it on your recommendation and can't fault it.
I have flg5 devilbiss spray gun air cap 1.4 leaking air from the air cap is the gun scrap
I would be happy like a child if I have this gun with 1.3, but I can't afford it. Thank you for this video, it really made my day.
This is where I struggle, usually hoods ,do you like the older lph400 for basecoat better?
What nozzle size ?And will it work on waterborne?🤔I’ve been thinking of getting one of these
Love your videos and they have been great help! Thank you for your help. But would like to see more on metallic mottle with the pro lite gun.
do you think could use FLG5 with 1.4 tip to spray high build up primmer , base , and clear
