For those expecting deinterlacing of OTA interlaced streams from HDHomeRun etc, you will need to choose with Apple TV 4K. In summary Apple TV 4K has support for interlaced video, Google TV Streamer does not.

As for me personally, all about a streaming box has to just be audio and video, nothing else matters, I did lot of research online and had to choose between Shield or Apple tv, and went with 2017 model apple as Shield was selling for double the price of apple tv in my country. Now when new google tv was coming out I was waiting to upgrade if they give something better like support for DTS, but no, it is just what apple tv of 2017 can do is what google released. Now waiting incase sheild releases any new model, then will switch to that, and by the way apple tv is the only apple device I got.

Apple TV doesn’t give you ads yes they do. Apple TV is just like Amazon prime they give you lots of ads unless you pay extra to remove them. The one thing you didn't talk about though is on Google TV devices it's much easier to find content. Sometimes you don't know what to watch and on Google TV devices it shows you all the shows from all the devices you have on your Google TV device. On Apple TV you pretty much can only go into the Apple TV app and then it gets kind of confusing. Releasing a streaming device without WiFi 6e in 2024 is wild. WiFi 7 would have even been better. I’m doing my best to hold off on any new purchases without WIFI 7
Yeah. I am full Android but use an Apple TV. It's just the best thing on the market, and it still isn't perfect. I think Google really missed with this device.
So the Google TV is 30% cheaper, has an Ethernet port, supports AV1, supports Netfix Intearctive library & supports Thread & Matter - but the Apple TV is better? Sure - you can spend even more on the Apple TV to get Ethernet & Thread, but then the price difference is even larger than the 30%? While it's great to point out iOS is supported on even old Apple TV models, it should also be noted that some features are only reserved for the latest models ... such as HDR10+ which isn't available on my Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen) or FaceTime which isn't available on the Apple TV 4K (1st Gen).
Correct. The google tv, that while cheaper, is still underpowered, has less apps, has less than half the codecs, and has half the storage, and doesn’t have as robust an OS is not as good as the Apple TV. The only thing it wins hands-down on is price. I’m not pointing out old models because I’m comparing it to the new one. Just like I don’t point out missing features on old chromecast devices
@@AppleInsider As much as Apple like to claim that everyone renders 4K videos on their phones & plays games in their streamers, I don’t really think that’s true. Most people use a media steamer to stream content - and how exactly is the faster chip going to help with that? Surely more important would be hardware AV1 decoding? All Netflix AV1 content is 12 bit & HFR. 32GB storage is more than enough for most people - so the extra storage of Apple TV is another moot point. What apps does Apple TV have that are missing from Google? What numbers are we talking? I could give you a number of useful apps missing on Apple TV. Again - what codecs are missing? The Apple propriety codecs? Maybe the reason you don’t want to talk about older models is because they really aren’t as great as people make out. Can Apple Music actually do more than 48khz yet? So I guess HiRes Lossless is out? Can AirPlay 2 stream the same resolution as Chromecast? You asked us to agree/disagree with you - and I do disagree with you. You’re not being objective at all
@@AppleInsider It doesn’t ‘only’ win on price. You’re choosing to ignore AV1, Netflix Interactive titles, a decent voice assistant, compatibility, Thread, Matter , better Find My Remote etc to make Apple TV seem better than it
Google TV allows sideloading, that alone makes it the better OS. If you don't know what that is go look it up. No one cares about Matter, etc. And lets see whay happens when yall don't know what to watch You'll wish you had "ads"
Hey at least you are honest a said you are biased. There are many prominent tech RUclips reviewers, often Apple fans, claim objectivity but secretly endorse Apple products. Their actions frequently contradict their professed impartiality.
You keep using the word "NEED", like "Not everyone NEED's that", so try using the word 'want'. In fact you can remove the word need out of your vocabulary. We don't 'need' anything, its all wants. Then you will say well I need air. Yes you do, you need air because you want to live. Life is a game of wants.
Why would anyone buy the Google TV Streamer, when most Smart TV's run Android and allow you add more storage? Go for the Apple TV, as you'll also see a lot less adverts and it's quicker. 😁
Does android support match content frame rate as Apple tv does? If it doesn’t support it (i am 100% sure it doesn’t), you will encounter a non-smooth picture.
I checked in the web. Google streamer really supports match frame rate. But article says that the only Netflix app supports this feature too. The same problem i faced with apple tv. But all major applications support it, except RUclips and crunchyroll. I hope android developers will start support it too.
I have Apple TV in 2 rooms in my house, but in my living room I have a 75 inch TCL 8 series mini LED TV and with a Apple TV some movies in Dolby Vision Flicker from DV to standard def in certain scenes, its completely distracting and Apple will never address it. I have used other Streamers from Roku Ultra and now the new Google TV 4k and I don't have that issue, but honestly Google TV 4k has issues with Audio, it says it has a night mode/ volume leveling and enhance speech but I can't hear any difference when enable and Apple TV does a great job with its IOS specific audio settings with disabling loud sounds and enhanced speech. I am not hard of hearing, I have a Sonos System throughout and Apple is a better companion for watching movies and managing Audio than Google TV 4k, so I am a bit disappointed in Google, I hope Apple comes out with a update Apple TV device cause I want to try again.
I just want to know who in their right mind would choose google TV over Apple TV? It can’t be the price because refurb apple tv’s are $100 & lower. It can’t be Google slower processor, the plastic remote that requires aa batteries, or lack of integration with their own products ?? It needs to be $69 to even make sense
It is as simple as the UI. Android UI sucks. Cumbersome, overly complicated, ad crowded, and apps are an afterthought. TvOS is the best UI of any streaming device. The homepage is your apps. That is it. Just as it should be. No overly complicated menus to navigate and no huge ad taking up 1/2 the screen
sorry but this isn't even close to competition for apples ATV 4k of even the first generation. if you're going to spend 100 bucks then you're absolutely way better off buying the ATV4k and not that cheaply made box and remote who claims its not for "power users" and lacks many of the features you'd get by default just going with the ATV. and NO you absolutely do not need any other apple products to enjoy the TV box alone and NO you don't need an iPhone to do the initial set up.

if we talk about subscription services. Yes, we have them in Russia. Well, after watching it at the cinema. all movies are free. with a professional translation or you want in any other language.😂so it doesn't matter to us.
Apple tv 4k lost DOLBY ATMOS support since 17.4 OS
I don't think that's true... I just watched a movie with Atmos.
🤔 The Google TV Streamer is just a Matter Smart hub with Google TV
And can side load. of you dont know what it is, go look it up
Releasing a streaming device without WiFi 6e in 2024 is wild. WiFi 7 would have even been better. I’m doing my best to hold off on any new purchases without WIFI 7
Apple TV supports gaming and you can play with a controller!
If you have an iPhone, the Apple TV 4K is the logical choice.
Apple TV 4K is the way … even if you’re not a fanboy.
Its not Android TV OS, it is Google TV OS.....
The Apple TV was trashed for me no side loading or anything. I returned mine immediately.
you must be new smart tv ui's aren't amazing either soooo...
@@Nala_1230 That's my point, it's Google 😁
sideloading
Does android support match content frame rate as Apple tv does? If it doesn’t support it (i am 100% sure it doesn’t), you will encounter a non-smooth picture.
Yes it does
I checked in the web. Google streamer really supports match frame rate. But article says that the only Netflix app supports this feature too. The same problem i faced with apple tv. But all major applications support it, except RUclips and crunchyroll. I hope android developers will start support it too.
I stream nothing. My televisions will soon be on the parkway free for someone with bad reasoning.
Trash if going use max app because with it content which says 4k downgrade to hd
I love my Google TV 4K but am considering getting an Apple TV 4K… is it worth it?
Maybe wait for the next version
@@ZK-APAwhen are they releasing another Apple TV?
No apple tv store on Google tv
Not worth the money
Apple is far superior! Google is also useless if ypu love AppleTV+.
i have iptv so i dont have no streaming serices
no dts suppport
where is fire tv here?
Biased.
RUclips tv looks like garbage on apple tv . It looks great on google tv
Apple TV is by faaaaar superior!
Typical RUclipsr conclusion…. Buy the one that suits you.
Fun fact: Google will discontinue it in 2 years
I will stick to Apple I bought the google security system $600 wasted google always talking about discontinued product
