All the cool kids are doing shelf brackets nowadays, glad you guys are cool too. Hahaha Hidden French cleats?! Genius! If you wanted to get rid of the lateral movement you could totally break the internets and do a sliding dovetail French cleat? But again, that would seriously blow some minds! I would love to see what you could create with a decked out shop. ;)
Love how Belle was assertive in speaking up about her level being most important. Drywall is awesome for artists who need to constantly patch and paint.
When i see you have posted a new video...i sit and watch immediately....always so interesting, even some chuckles along the way. You have such a lovely family!
What a great idea for a shelf bracket attachment option. I really like that. It's so much better than having those darn aggravating little round wooden plugs to cover the screws, that pop out after time.
Very nice and clean. You can never have enough shelves. Belle's dragons needed that display. You make all this look easy. Love that you use all resources available. Have a great weekend. Missed Maverick this time.
I LOVE your DIY projects, and absolutely LOVE your adorable family. And you are so creative. You wife, Ashley, is beautiful and precious, as well as your two children. My husband and I enjoy your gentle repartee and joking around.
If any of your subscribers know someone in research and development in the home building industries or tools, they need to get their human resources people after you, Doug. May be too 9 to 5 for you, but it seems like it would be a blessing to them and you and diy-ers! The shelf bracket idea is great! Again! Glad I got to see you use the router around the corner of the bracket. Would not have known that is how that is done. Why did you choose a glue gun over wood glue to attach the shelf? I would probably use nails or screws and putty it or put a piece of contac paper or veneer on the top of the shelf to hide them. Hope you appreciate how supportive Ashley is! Glad the weather has been good enough for you to get out to the barn and work!
I used hot glue to make the shelf easier to be removed in the future, if need be. The main idea was to experiment with shelf brackets. If I created a shelf unit I would have built it differently. Wood glue is too permanent.
You're a true 'thinker' Doug! This thought could make some money to further your thoughts, the childrens education or whatever your future dreams may be!! Might be time to patent this thought... =8^)
Doug, I love Sam and Angela’s videos as well and saw that video where he made those brackets. They were really nice! I’ve said this many times before; you are soooo smart Doug! You see something in your mind and the next thing you know, we’re looking at the finished product! You are truly gifted!💕
I don't know if you are looking for ways to supplement your income, but you have a knack for design. You would do well selling furniture for local pickup or at a local outdoor market and selling things like your shelf brackets and peanut butter stirrer online.
Added on a bedroom for my daughter. Used plywood on the interior walls then plastered over them. Turned out really well. You can hang anything anywhere. 😃
The shelf is really cute. The creative wheels in your head, moving again. Your lil edited sound effects crack me up 😃😂. Need a good laugh these days. Another great video. Thanks kids 🤗
houses ARE so drywally! 😂 Totally agree with the studs most often being in the wring place 😉 That cleat method for the brackets worked out great! Belle is so blessed to have you for her dad ❤️
Great idea definitely something to use when hanging shelves I love the clean look something else I like is those sound effects while cutting 🤣😂 tyfs Blessings
That came out pretty cool, like that you are always thinking to make something better, smarter, easier to use. Love the sound effects...LOL. Scary movie theme start to moos from the chop saw. Winter here is boring, too, so you got to spice it up somehow! Have a fun weekend. We got cold stuff coming our way. Hope you stay warm up there.
Beautiful Again 💙 I know this is just my opinion but I hope you go into designing and building furniture as a side business. I love the clean look and I know others would also.👍
I love the shelf and the talent you have with wood working is amazing. I also watching Sam on GreenAcres. He is very talented also. I even ordered a nice kitchen tool from him that keeps us from burning our hands when we put pans in the oven. You young guys need to consider putting patents on your designs.
That was amazing and perfect for Belle's room! That design is really ingenious and I wouldn't have thought of using hot glue. I love watching your creative process!
Very nice looking shelf and I think Belle will get many years of enjoyment from it. As an added note, when my brother was making wood shelves such as this one, he would make a key hole in the bracket back and slide it down over a screw. They held up very well. On other shelves the were larger he would design a decorative back plate on the shelf then pre drill and counter sink holes in the back plate, screw the whole unit to the wall then cover the counter sunk holes with a rounded button (they come in many sizes). Those shelves were very strong also. Love these DIY projects you are doing. I am only sorry I can no longer do the wood working. Spent many happy years making country craft items. Have a Blessed day.
Drywall is so drywally...lol. I feel your pain on that one. Love the creativity. I wish you were closer..my house needs some creative solutions to our problem areas, which is exactly where your strength is. You have a great, creative, problem solving mind which not all carpenters possess. Great job. Keep building..🔨
A nice tidy installation at minimal cost - once you have the tools and skill to employ them. More good ways to make the family home so that it works better for the family. The previous version was inventive, but I liked the simple traditional lines of the bigger new version.
I always wait with anticipation for a new video. Always informative. I wish I had seen your videos before we redid out house. You have a lot of tips to make things nicer and easier.
My husband and I enjoy your videos so much and always learn something from your ideas. I must say, we get a good giggle out of the special audio effects....Your editing skills are really impressive. Were looking forward to seeing what's next on your build list!
Please build a house in your near future. I bet it will be beautiful as well as unique in every way. Belle's room is really coming together. Looks great.
As usual, you did a brilliant job. I'd like to see you do that on a larger scale. Belle's creations are really cool! I like her room. Ask her if she would like to give us a tour one day.
How do you come up with such great ideas??? I love Belle’s new shelf❤️It just fit right in and her Lego treasures look perfect on display. Stay warm and safe guys. Thank you for the video👍🏻❤️
Doug you are so AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! The wood brackets and the amount of detail is again amazing. I really love all the sounds when you are using your power tools “the cow sounds love it. I just noticed you have a different picture for your channel I really like it
Man what a great job i hope that the vloger you were talking about sees this how neat loved the edging on it and wood grain i am a wood loving person it was so cute to see your daughter put her touch on it dad loved the sound effects i just burst out laughting with the cow lol. and popping out is my fab waiting for next one
Always fun to see ur brain at work. Very nice shelf that came from scrap material. Good lesson to anyone to just try something even if they r unsure of what they r doing.
The nice thing about drywall, like you said, easy to repair if you decide to move something. And your home is fabulous. It's a very clean look that is easy to clean up or totally change up with paint. Great job on the shelf for Belle.
Like the new logo. I love watching Sam’s mind work. We should call this dueling carpenters and their saws lol. In one scene the saw sounded like a cow mooing how funny. They make shelf brackets that are routed out on the back with two metal fittings the screws heads pop into so all is unseen, they work but aren’t as nice as your set up.
Thats a pretty shelf Doug... For myself I'd have mine stained with a plate edge in the back for my kitchen.. I love your work! I love your whole family too! Grammy sends BIG Hugs! XOXO
Still coming up with new and unusual design hacks. One of these days, you will invent something that will make you a millionaire! I love it. Your Loyal fan & Subscriber, Art in Calif.
Oh my goodness, that was a brilliant way to do a shelf bracket, I do agree with you on drywall, all the houses I have lived in have had drywall, except the one I currently live in, and it is paneling throughout the whole house because it is an older home, it's a 1955 Sparton with an addition built onto it, so more along the lines of 70"s area. So I plan on painting the paneling a white, so it will be me patching the holes and sanding then painting, and I have done that in the hallway and it looks just fine. You are just so clever and have so many great ideas and I love that you share these things with us. Thanks again for another fun video, and I always look forward to you next one. Sending love and hugs, bye for now.
Very nice Doug. I think you could make anything really you are very creative. I love how Belle put some fun stuff she made on it also. Take Care! Stay Safe! Looking forward to what's coming next.
WoW, Doug, that is one cool shelf bracket, great idea, it's interesting this internet thing, passing ideas around and coming up with other cool concepts like this one, I've said for a long time, the internet is a stepping stone, it's our collective consciousness on training wheels, the next leg of our evolution perhaps will no longer depend on the internet to pass information between humans. what does this mean, well I'll leave that to your imagination to ponder on... lol Anyway, what a great idea, thank you for sharing this gem with us.
Doug, Thank you for posting this Inspiring video. Loved it all, including the sound effects for the saw. It is a refreshing change from electric saw sounds. I especially Loved Ashley's response to Doug's ? about the shelf .... It's Cool, It Works, There's nothing wrong with it. : )
Aww the shelf is perfect! I really love the way you hung the brackets! Genius. I love all of Belle’s creations and they look adorable on the shelf. God bless y’all ☝🏻❤️💕🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻

Great minds think alike - I mentioned dovetails, too!
I was thinking about a dovetail grove, the french cleat at that point might be overkill lol. Fun to try. Now I need a router :)
Hey Sam. No offense to this channel, but I enjoy yours better lol.
Moo made me laugh again! Very ingenious shelf. We need you here! Looking forward to the next video.
I heard the joy of growth in your humming song as you glued and nailed the shelf ends. I love it when a plan comes together!
Every girl needs a shelf to display her treasures. Maybe Bell could paint the shelf in her favorite color.Good job Dad.
That turquoise they used on the door in the room in the barn might look nice.
Dad who can build anything is just so cool.
Love how Belle was assertive in speaking up about her level being most important. Drywall is awesome for artists who need to constantly patch and paint.
This was such an informative video. I never would thought to make them rather than buy the brackets. Take Care

I believe the peanut butter stirrer was made by Sam at Green Acres Homestead.
I agree!
@@beckiblack859 You're right. It was. I think Doug made a diyfferent kitchen tool (maybe?).
You kind of reminded me of my own father. He was a carpenter and always making things for his loved ones.
Added on a bedroom for my daughter. Used plywood on the interior walls then plastered over them. Turned out really well. You can hang anything anywhere. 😃
I get such a kick out of all your sound effects on your saws and sanders and all. Love and laughs

You need to invent power tools that make all the cool sounds that yours do. You would make a lot of sales. :) Great shelf.
Very clever shelf brackets! You could easily build and sell these. Your dramatic entrance and sound effects cracked me up!
You have hands of gold. The shelf is a great addition to Belle’s room. What an awesome Dad.
I really think you should try to make chairs and a couch for your new room. It would really look nice in the style of the beds you made.
I was thinking the same thing . he is so talented the way he thinks outside the box. And simple but beautiful at the same time.
Doug, you make everything look so easy( total compliment) ! The shelf turned out lovely! Enjoy your new shelf, Belle! :)
Good Morning Doug Ashley Belle & Maverick,I love your new shelf your Dad made for you Belle.Awesome video as always.👏🏻👍🏻
Hi! thanks!
I forgot how lovely Belle’s room is with her little reading arbor/nook!
Really neat idea with the modified French cleat. And hot glue is the crafter's duct tape. Nice to see that Jerry's doing good.
Jerry is not in the best shape but it's hanging in there.
Thumbs up for the sound effects..pure gold
Great idea definitely something to use when hanging shelves I love the clean look something else I like is those sound effects while cutting 🤣😂 tyfs Blessings
