Chuck w Death along with Dan Swano w Edge of Sanity were so absolutely amazing at straight up pure riff writing & construction in the early 90s. It was phenomenal considering that Death Metal was barely 10 years old at that point but their writing was already including some of the best pure riffs we would ever hear

So those solos weren't exactly around Chuck's style but I really enjoyed SH's solos (criminally underrated) and I think that Chuck unsleashed his deeper creativity to write those solos along with James Murphy

Chuck was a great soloist, amazing songwriter and vocalist, and was also smart enough to feature other badass guitarists to give the solos more diversity...my favorites being Andy Larocque, Paul Masdival, and, of course, James Murphy.
I really love that all these other bands are making Death covers, and how nobody hates on Death no matter what other kind of metal they listen to. So much respect to a Legendary band.

I met chuck took pictures and partied with him in Hollywood the night they filmed death live in la was in the front row left hammerfall prototype! Actually stayed at same expensive hotel as chuck! Richard Christy really liked my Michael Meyers shirt so I took it off and shot it to him on the strength! Saw him wearing it on the cover metal maniacs a month later! Some of the highlights of my life for sure! Was tripping on how calm and chill Chuck was far from evil how he sounded singing !
