    MY LAST RANT: He's standing still while he's singing. If you've seen him live more than once, you'll notice he stays in one spot occasionally. He's an excellent singer so he knows when he has to protect his voice and keep his vocal chords stabilized. Listen to "Photograph," it's all high notes! There are times when he knows he shouldn't be running all over the stage. Doing that and singing puts way too much stress on your vocal chords. Ever talk when you're jogging? Try singing and doing that and then see how it feels. DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW?

    To all that say Joe doesn't have a voice, He has his voice he just just sings a lot of falsettos to preserve his voice. If he belted it out like he used to he would lose his voice, but he definitely still has it , just listen to the rock of ages terrors from 2012. He belts it out just like he did in 1983.

    @brentwerley6762 5 лет назад +6

    Elliott's singing over the years, has become progressively consistent and melodic. It's VERY clear to me he takes extremely good care of his voice and works to keep it in shape. As far as the tonal quality, sure he's not belting out in recklessly distorted notes... even in his younger days, when he did that his singing was remarkably more inconsistent live... because that's the way it goes. Singers like Brian Johnson are a rarity, and the versatility of Johnson's voice is virtually gone... his tone is his tone. As far as Elliott "keeping this up"... hard to say... maybe drop a half-step to a step here and there because of age, but he doesn't use much of a mix voice or belt at the top end of his mid-range... he goes over top right to the light head voice. Personally, I don't care for it as far as my own vocals would be concerned, because it's too harsh sounding of a transition from his chest/middle to head, but it works for their music.

    • @brentwerley6762
      @brentwerley6762 3 года назад

      @Bob Donald This is where I would really encourage someone like @Ken Tamplin to weigh in... as I would suggest whether Elliott would fall into baritone or tenor classification is debatable. And especially more so because he's not singing in a classically trained style. Big reason why Freddie Mercury is now more considered to be a baritone who "forced" his way into being a tenor (I would concur), and many would suggest Robert Plant is actually a baritone (I would disagree with this, as I believe Ken has suggested as well). In either event, I wouldn't even really focus on what he is but more so knowing where you are, not even necessarily "what" you are... if you know where your passaggio is, I typically recommend avoiding singing a song key that "lives in the passaggio" of your voice because it will wear out and potentially damage your voice quicker than anything else, especially if those are considered the "money notes" of the song... this I would argue being true excellent for most experienced and well-trained/disciplined singer. That being said, a simple move of a half step or full step down (or up, believe it or not), can make ALL the difference. As examples:
      I sing "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald", "Hold On Loosely" and "I Can See For Miles" best a half-step down. I sing "Armameggonit" (sp?) and "Lovin' Touchin' Squezin'" best a half-step up. Does it really matter what my "voce type" is? Not nearly as much as know where the transition points are in my voice and how that applies to each piece I sing.
      Hope this wasn't information overkills! Cheers and keep rocking!

    I actually find Joe is singing as well live as he did in 2005. And he was only around age 45 then. He won't last much longer like this- especially touring way too much. However, it's enjoyable to see. Probably sings better live than he did in the early 90s. And with that style of vocals you will have your bad nights, for sure. Nice to see Viv feeling better right now also.
