    Kinda makes you forget that there was only a 5 year gap between Oblivion and Skyrim. And 4 year gap between Morrowind and Oblivion.

    It's also worth mentioning that running the native PS5 app will save you about 15GBs in comparison to the PS4 app. The reason why, is because Sony's backwards compatibility solution creates some chunky files that are needed to emulate the PS4 apps, those files will be labelled as "Other" in your storage management screen, and you can't access the folder. That's a huge plus, since we only have 600GB to work with.

    Yes you get the upgrade for free, but the Anniversary Edition content has to be bought separately, and the game will pester you on the main menu screen forever until you buy it, and it will add at least 5 to 10 seconds to your initial menu load depending on how long the game takes to check the internet for whether you own the added content or not and display the pester message.

      @photonboy999 2 года назад +2

      @@pulseofme6884 ,
      Uh, HOW would you get the upgrade if you don't have an Internet connection?
      Just FYI, the "AE" edition is just the "SE" version but with CC downloads. I bought the upgrade and on restarting it just downloaded all the Creation Club content automatically before I was allowed to continue to the main menu.
      I'm seeing no added delay to launch the game though.
      The game didn't look any better because it's just extra armor options etc... I had a clean install of SE (then upgraded to AE) but I promptly reinstalled all my mods. So the AE version is rather pointless if you already mod unless there's some quest DLC you like that's in AE only.
      Also... I unchecked AMBIENT OCCLUSION as it was giving odd shadow textures on characters necks and under their arms. It's in the unmodded SE/AE versions. No idea if that's new but I never noticed it until recently. None of my mods got rid of it. Only unchecking it in game settings.

    It is such a shame that a masterpiece like Skyrim did not get more love from Bethesda, why is it that machines like the Ps5 and series X do not run at maximum pc settings let alone not being a locked 60 when these machines outclass those pc requirements?
    Adding insult to injury is the fact that many mods now no longer work, thanks Bethesda!

    • @EcchiRevenge
      @EcchiRevenge 2 года назад +7

      Because their pc requirements are out of date/irrelevant and their engine is shit so running above 60fps can result in issues like broken physics(pc has a fix for that but you need to maintain high framerate, which these shit consoles can't do even at 60) and possibly scripts(also tied to framerate).

      If you use the right mods you will be very impressed by how good it looks. I’m currently running mods that cover pretty much every aspect of the visuals and sound, and some gameplay mods. It feels like the game I always imagined it to be years ago, but it is soooo much better. Even on console the mod community is very helpful and I went from a complete novice to feeling like I have 100+ mod load out dialed in thanks to other people being being nice enough to offer advice.

    • @Slytalion
      @Slytalion 2 года назад +3

      @@SLX25 Yes it did, on PS5 before the AE update you could use Wrighton's 60fps mod to get THE SAME performance as demonstrated by DF,
      in addition there were mods that enhanced FOV scale and detail level LOD also by Wrighton but those are now nonfunctional which for me meant that Bethesda's update broke my game because the mods were suddenly no longer compatible and my save game was reliant on them resulting in giant holes in the world and other weirdness forcing a new game.
      On top of that because the aforementioned mods no longer work it also means far more LOD pop-in and a more narrow field of view with the only actual benefit being faster loading, which granted is nice but for me at least it is ultimately not worth it.
      To make things worse Wrighton has tried to fix the mods but Bethesda did something to Skyrim AE that has made .INI injection non functional which means that unless Bethesda fixes the issue which I fear they will that means that none of this will EVER work again, Skyrim AE should have been optional that would have solved everything.

    There are plenty examples of games which run bad at launch, get a critical review from DF but later problems where solved. But the bad review stays untouched on RUclips.
    The majority of the gamers won't buy games at launch but wait until the game gets cheaper.
    At that time the DF review is not reliable anymore.
    Don't get me wrong, I love what DF is doing but when you adres issues please also share updates when issues are solved.
    I'm aware DF post small notes on social media about fixes but would it be great to have a monthly video about this, it's also more fair towards devs and potential buyers of the game who can choose for which platform they want to buy a certain game.

    Anniversary edition forces you to ROLE PLAY if you want the new content! You have to explore and talk to everyone if you want the creations. I didnt realize how much i missed having to role play. This breathed new life into skyrim. Ps mods have come a long way too. Im having so much fun talking to everyone, discovering new things and getting amazing new gear. Plus there lots of town mods on ps, my favorite is the one that makes winterhold an actual ruined city. So much to find there.
    I do have to say though, this port is pathetic. The ps4 port was already pathetic, medium-low settings and awful 8 bit like textures which look even more awful because its 4k. All they did was uncap the frame rate. Absolutely ridiculous! The game is 10 yrs old... no excuse as to why ps5 cant have max settings. At least im having fun though.

    I can't believe the difference between PS5 native and back compat. With the series x i haven't noticed that native games and back compat have massive differences in speed, probably because of how incredible the back compat work as been on the series consoles. None the less, so impressed by load speeds on PS5. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Loving my series X but want to complete the set.
    My only criticism here is that they should offer two modes to favour either resolution or fps. I would be happy to drop DRS on series X in favour of a fixed resolution like the PS5. I don't mind a few more drops in FPS as a result as PS5 users will be getting. It's an odd choice and i bet it's a budget and time constraint problem on their dev team. Seems odd to make a decision to not apply DRS to PS5 when the FPS drops are more apparent. Spending time effectively creating a new solution on Xbox consoles but neglecting PS5 is pretty cheap. I'm sure theres lots of PS5 users that would appreciate more solid performance. None the less, it sounds like it's not a massive issue, and i think it's time we get something new rather than loads of devs always working on skyrim
