Bob sanders and SugarGamingTY 234, every country produces pollution. Don't forget China and India have such bad pollution because they are manufacturing products that will be shipped primarily to the U.S. Their pollution will inevitably effect everyone and contribute to climate change.
yeah, from what I remember reading a month or so ago China has actually switched from being one of the most polluted places on the planet to being the greenest. Is it still perfect? No. But its a sharp drastic change from where it was. If only India would get on the same bandwagon. Perhaps when alternate forms of transportation become available that use magnetic pull instead of fuel we might stand a chance.
Learn more dude. The largest industry in India is tertiary industry, but India is still far more polluted than China who has the largest secondary industry. The deserts in China are gradually being reduced and the natural water storage is being restored at a relatively high rate and the vegetation coverage is increasing year by year.
I've been to China in the summer of this year and it's pretty hot, like blazing. What causes it? I know it's closer to the equator where I live, but what causes it? This is not a hate comment.
I don't want to say it as though I'm looking down on India, but the truth will be that it is going to take them a long time to reach the title of a superpower. They have so many basic problems internally that needs to be solved...
it's a transitional stage. You would have thought that countries doing catch-up would avoid the mistake of their predecessors, but it doesn't seem to work that way. Just as China is leaving point of maximum air pollution, India seems to be entering it.
The farmers in the neighboring states are burning the leftovers in their fields. That smoke is polluting Delhi. Also Delhi's crowded roads are another reason.
jake hanzvik actually it's the overpopulation that's killing them,I say that because the U.S. the biggest carbon footprint per person of any country but it's not as bad because we have regulations on cars and we have a population around 300 million unlike Indian which has like 1billion or more
the guy in the video says its diesel fuel thats doing most of this but thats not entirely true, around this time in india, the farmers burn the leftover waste from farming wheat over the winter season, this produces a lot of soot/smoke which mixes with the fog and makes smog. that is what you see in the video, if that much smoke was being produces by diesel engines it would almost be catastrophic for the region. this doesnt only affect india tho, the smog rolls over to pakistan and rolls further into india, but not south india as those regions are too far and dont produce a lot of wheat. this doesnt happen in summer because they dont farm wheat in the summer.
I don't think it's overpopulation it's less development in whole country. For country like India development should be in the large part of it's area not limited to a city.

There’s literally nothing but racist and negative comments but pplu don’t realize that a lot of these people living in third world countries don’t realize or are educated on matters like this. They see this problem but don’t understand how or what they can do to fix it or even why it’s happening.
There is nothing racist in the comments....there is a real problem that need urgent attention. BTW don't try to be an expert of third world nations. They are the result of explorations by their colonizers...which are today's so-called "developed nations". And for your info....india is not a third world nation. You are just the result of western media propaganda that is being fed to keep their people dump and heads in the sand.
I was thinking that the government could manufacturer a cheap filter that can go on the exhaust of a car while they look at getting cleaner ways to power the vehicles.
If they seal in too well, they need O2 supply and CO2 scrubber. I know that the CO2 scrubbers go for a nice low price of at least several grand USD. A HEPA filter is cheaper, but still impractical for anyone that doesn't have several hundred lying around, plus a few hundred more for all the filter replacements they're going to need.
Suffocate by air pollution in winter, Monsoon season, deal with flooded toxic water splashing on you all the time. I'm not sure which is better to be honest. I hope they find a way soon.
sam cooperman how can you say that? How can an animal life be more important than a human life which has an eternal soul, while the animal does not? Of course it’s the right thing to have compassion over our fellow earthlings, but a human life is much more worth than an animal could ever be worth.
vivek sharma compare your population size to our population -_- we have just 80million people living here in Germany whilst you all got around 1billion. Your comparison of IQ is very bad. And IQ isn't a factor to record somebody's intelligence, i have an exceptional IQ but that doesn't make my practical knowledge best, i got many friends who had got less IQ then me who are better at practical applications then me (studies, analytical and other factors).
OP PAI that's not the best idea and implementing it would be nearly impossible. Imagine one day you are told you can't drive your vehicle on weekends (the day you are free and have time to go out). I think there are better other ideas to be implemented which are not consider yet
Tanpreet Singh If the condition is as bad as in India than I would consider it, I mean what option is left, the government couls at least offer people electric cars or other transportation methods. I mean its a drastic meassure but we have the health of millions of people on the line.
OP PAI I agree the condition is worst here but from a local perspective I'd say the public transportation system is okay especially Delhi metro but it's already overcrowded right now and other public transport are not enough yet for smoother transportation experience. So banning personal vehicles on weekends would cause chaos here for sure. I think govt should plant more trees, focus on making India electric especially cars and toughen up the rules for manufacturing industry to go green and not produce waste and pollution and alot of other ways Aswell to fight the pollution and I am pretty sure our govt could change the situation here if they want to Aswell but I think because of corruption and other factors it's not happening ASAP.
1:45 “Air that *our kids* breathe at night...” Why in the world would you expose your children to that?! It’s not like you’re trapped there like most others. Leave!
Our children haven't took a break from breathing... Equivalent to 50 packs of a ciggerate a day. 50 ciggerate!??!? NO BREAKS EACH DAY?? THATS ALOT No. Packs. Packs. Every day of their lives, every day, every single second they breathe this without a break. How do they survive? U won't die either from smoking that much, your life expectancy would be shortened by alot and u would be a little adapted like we are Children are usually more sensitive than adults in these cases What can we do? Move out? Do u know what a developing country means? If the usa can't pay their rent and is a developed country imagine a country that earns 100 times less on average? What do we do if our kids breathe it? Do a perpetual lockdown as that's all we can do with our money? What do we do with their life then?
Diesel Pollution Is Not A Major Reason .It Is Due To Crop Stubble burning From Neighbouring States of Punjab and Harayana .And Some dust coming from The Gulf States
I hate it when people from first world countries act like their countrymen are destroying the environment.... when the main culprit is Indian and Chinese factories. Not trying to pin blame, but just remember to know the REAL destroyer of the environment. Change needs to be made.
Current AQI (index for pm2.5, the small particle of pollution in the air): Toronto: 25 Shanghai: 67 Beijing: 78 Delhi: 287 Mumbai: 235 No Indian citys' AQI is lower than 200 and People keep complaining about China's pollution problem. Imagine...India is one of the most populous countries and if they have that toxic air the death rate would be significantly high!If this would happen in Mumbai-Calcuta it would be a total disaster
I was born and raised in the united states and I have been fortunate to enjoy a life with almost no pollution. I went to india for the first time ever in 2017 and OMG as soon as I got off the plane, by head started hurting. We landed in New Delhi. My headache didn't go away untill we got back on the plane and officially left the country and started flying over international waters. If you are thinking of travelling to India, be careful as the pollution will be a constant bother for your head and lungs. Aside from that, it's still a very beautiful country and the people are nice. Food taste good as well...if you like spicy stuff :-). People say to go in November and December, however the air is actually most polluted at that time, because Farmers like to set off fireworks for Diwali, which creates more smog in the air. Best time is early September, when monsoon season has JUST ended and the skys are clear.
I believe that we can reverse the process by changing our mindset , 'having more money, good cars, and palacial houses are the signs of ultimate success' We lived happily with some food, with less money, less cars, less industries and less pollution
China built and used the most electric cars in the world last year, and is number 10 in NEV per capita, something insanely impressive for a developing country since all the countries above it are like Nordic countries. China is also the world leader in NEVs, open your eyes.
Exactly this man is true Indian. I mean he is saying see other country like Somalia or North Korea we are at least not like them. We can't see city like London,Paris or Newyork. Hey all i want to say is that always compare with the person standing ahead. The best way to stop this kind of news is to change delhi pollution level.
I traveled throughout a large part of North India: West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Nepal. The only time I ever breathed clean air was hiking in the Himalayas.
Texas Gun Look at India once lol, you guys look at India all the time ! You guys get some kind of pleasure seeing people of other countries suffer and you know it's not like that in your country.
For those who think whole India is like this, IT IS NOT! We admit our capital city and few other major cities are badly polluted because people tend to move there increasing the population of such cities. But a large part of this country is way better than most of the developed nations what the media doesn't show. They tend to focus only on the negativities while reporting outside their own country.
DIngbat donedon it's not that south India is less polluted. It's just we have more big cities to spread out the population. For many states in the North, Delhi is the only where opportunities are plentiful leading to insane population growth. People from Bihar, UP, Punjab, Jharkhand, North East, Uttaranchal, Uttarakhand, MP all come and crowd up Delhi. In the south in addition to many big metro cities, there's a language barrier which acts as a hindrance for immigrants among the southern states as well as those coming from the North. The results is lower pollution levels.
Traffic and diesel are used across the world, but the reason for the pollution in delhi is the cold winds converge here, Punjab farmers burning their farm waste and the wind drifts towards Delhi that is the main reason and then the pollution that is caused within delhi obviously adds to it. But the situation will be much better if Punjab and Haryana farmers were banned from burning their farm waste and some other way to clear our the farms after harvest can be devised.
Sabyasachi Datta having more nukes doesn't improve your country... Besides mohdi just spends millions of dollars on the dam statue while that million of dollars can go towards the bullet train in india...
India was historically a great country! world should come forward to help India in some of its serious issues like pollution control, open defection, overpopulation, poverty, rapidly increasing Islamic terrorism, state sponsored Casteism (reservation system of India) instead of hating on it unnecessarily. hate will solve nothing stand up for peace and prosperity.
AntiVirus 1 India has the money to solve this problem by themselves. dont ask for outside help when India has corrupted government that doesnt want to spend much in cleaning the air and water
We didn’t even ask for your help. Besides this is a phase that every developing nation goes through. America was lucky to get through it quickly. This is the kind of argument someone like Donald Trump would make telling the world that China and India are using Coal so we should be able to do so as well. You’ve already passed your industrialization stage and should be looking towards solar solutions but nope. Besides the Chinese and Indian government are planning more growth for renewable energy than a developed nation like America.
It's just a process of modernizing. Western cities were once too very polluted back until the 70s and 80s, then heavy polluted industry all moved to developing countries like Mexico India SouthEast Asia China then the sky are cleaner now, the byproduct are those Rust Belt cities
People just need to stop having so many children. One or two maybe even three sure. But having like 7+ children really has a big impact on a heavy populated area
I could taste sulphur in the air where I lived in Canada. Waste prod. From nickel refinery. I worked in a running shoe factory and for the first week I had a constant headache. After that, I guess the brain cells were dead no more headache. I don’t know if that’s what happened but most probably I’m right.
I usually will not say "no" to a visit to any country, but, as someone who doesn't smoke, the idea i might die from sheer breathing is as good a reason as any!
ayy lmao Cant plastic is most versatile of substance hence economical viable and in current situations economy takes precedence over logic, health and even environment.
Darrell Lingman what does plastic bags has to do with the air pollution in Delhi which is caused by the consumption of diesel and apparently the burning of fodder from the neighbouring states?
Thank you I am Indian Intelligent Official (IIO) and we are willing to follow your procedure. Please provide us some ideas, that you use in your country. What do you use instead of plastic bags, or is this some hypocritical comment that proves Mr.Lingman is more intellectual than 1.3 billion people. Anyway thanks for your suggestion. Stop having so many babies.. Too many people and drivers
Odin31b Children are still some kind of insurance for the future in countries like India.
At least the pollution is killing them off, but is also killing nature off.
Better solution would be a world wide ban of fossil fuels.
id Not plausible in the day and age we live in

Air seal your house - you'd be surprised how leaky most buildings are!
Alexander Riccio those people barely make any money if they had that type of money they would move to a western country
You’ll suffocate.
I hope they find a way soon.
i feel bad for the cats and dogs there. x_x
Cats & dogs ??! Seriously. What about the children
Dogs are more important
sam cooperman how can you say that? How can an animal life be more important than a human life which has an eternal soul, while the animal does not? Of course it’s the right thing to have compassion over our fellow earthlings, but a human life is much more worth than an animal could ever be worth.
Eli false
joyjoy there are people living and breathing in the toxic air as well smh. There was no coverage of the cats and dogs here.
New Delhi's Toxic Air.. Not of whole india's
for them delhi = india. Cant blame them for thr low IQ
soursethi17 lmaoo coming from you people
Mrbrain bob Yeah.. we Do have Higher IQ's thn west..
ya
vivek sharma compare your population size to our population -_- we have just 80million people living here in Germany whilst you all got around 1billion. Your comparison of IQ is very bad. And IQ isn't a factor to record somebody's intelligence, i have an exceptional IQ but that doesn't make my practical knowledge best, i got many friends who had got less IQ then me who are better at practical applications then me (studies, analytical and other factors).
Pretty amazing that the US actually is in the top 10 countries with the cleanest air
How about a driving ban on weekends exceot for the emergancy cars for the next 1 year!?
I think that's pretty smart. People will get excercise and less fuel will be used.
And USA pulled off from Paris Climate Agreement.
1:45 “Air that *our kids* breathe at night...”
Why in the world would you expose your children to that?! It’s not like you’re trapped there like most others.
Leave!
Our children haven't took a break from breathing... Equivalent to 50 packs of a ciggerate a day. 50 ciggerate!??!? NO BREAKS EACH DAY?? THATS ALOT
No. Packs.
Packs.
Every day of their lives, every day, every single second they breathe this without a break.
How do they survive? U won't die either from smoking that much, your life expectancy would be shortened by alot and u would be a little adapted like we are
Children are usually more sensitive than adults in these cases
What can we do? Move out? Do u know what a developing country means? If the usa can't pay their rent and is a developed country imagine a country that earns 100 times less on average? What do we do if our kids breathe it? Do a perpetual lockdown as that's all we can do with our money? What do we do with their life then?
Feeling bad for the people.Hope they stay safe!
Diesel Pollution Is Not A Major Reason .It Is Due To Crop Stubble burning From Neighbouring States of Punjab and Harayana .And Some dust coming from The Gulf States
Ha so it's somebody else fault
Yea blame that.. does not have anything to do with India using coal as an energy source or just basically being dirty AF
Delhi sucks brah
Sorry but what you are saying. that a group of countries 4-3 hours of flight which are immensely clean are making India a little dusty nope just nope
The gulf states are way cleaner tho, yes don’t get me wrong they are polluted but not as much as Delhi
0:49 ''there is pollution because people use diesel. People should stop driving cars.''
*drives a car
I hate it when people from first world countries act like their countrymen are destroying the environment.... when the main culprit is Indian and Chinese factories. Not trying to pin blame, but just remember to know the REAL destroyer of the environment. Change needs to be made.
I love living in the cleanest modernized country in the world, Japan.
Current AQI (index for pm2.5, the small particle of pollution in the air):
Toronto: 25
Shanghai: 67
Beijing: 78
Delhi: 287
Mumbai: 235
No Indian citys' AQI is lower than 200 and People keep complaining about China's pollution problem.

Imagine...India is one of the most populous countries and if they have that toxic air the death rate would be significantly high!If this would happen in Mumbai-Calcuta it would be a total disaster
These New York Times pieces are incredible. So well done
Carpentrov699 they make it way more dramatic than it really is
This much pollution is in new delhi only and not in full india
Not just china and india. The whole world needs more cleaner energy
I love that attitude. Your mostly positive and explain some good things! :)
I believe that we can reverse the process by changing our mindset , 'having more money, good cars, and palacial houses are the signs of ultimate success' We lived happily with some food, with less money, less cars, less industries and less pollution
India Super Power by 2020

(Not from me!)
You completely missed crop burning and wind patterns during this time of the year
But.. why the certain time of year...?
Ahmad Wazir thank you! :)
Adel thanks! :)
Adel thank you!
Also, in the winter poor people burn anything to keep themselves warm, it is a problem in Europe, too
The air condenses with the molecules and droplets in winter. That's why it worsens the situation.
its not entire india its only new delhi
Nope. Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad all have terrible air too. This happens all around India.
Aaaand why doesn't some countries gift India and China electric cars ?
Who’s gonna pay for it ?
The Mexicans
China built and used the most electric cars in the world last year, and is number 10 in NEV per capita, something insanely impressive for a developing country since all the countries above it are like Nordic countries. China is also the world leader in NEVs, open your eyes.
Do not put China and India together OK? Different level of pollution thx
Lol.
This is going to be a real thing for ALL OF US eventually
I don't blame them for throwing themselves in front of moving trains. 😷😎
nostalgic 80's guy wtf why u acting all savage when u said they jump in front of trains
me tooo
My garbage can is more cleaner than New Delhi!
'Living in India's Toxic Air' Really???? It seems you haven't been to other parts of the country. Never telling the entire story.
problem with indians is they deflect rather than admot. yes, we know britain and china is just as polluted. but lets look at india for once
You guys get some kind of pleasure seeing people of other countries suffer and you know it's not like that in your country.
pathetic response. You indians act so nationalistic but the second you get an American visa, you will leave in a heartbeat.
"I need some fresh air" said no one.
Abhinav Atwal didn't trump love India and look how his Media is showing view of India 😂😂
Whole india is this
Why can’t they move somewhere else whilst the government tries to get rid of it?
Honestly it’s their fault
this is only in the major city, india is mostly an rural country, the villages without traffic have no pollution.
We should use electric car.
I was thinking about that then thought the possibility would be low.
This is so ironic. The guy is saying 70% of the pollution is because of disel fuels(cars). But hes riding in a car himself.
Such a shame for Delhi. Come to South India and see how clean and beautiful it is.
Venkatesh R don't do that man. They'll all come here and screw it up.
Why do you people always have this north vs South competition going on.....This is one BHARAT....don't u realise
Aaaahh the perfect South India.. why is it that everytime it rains your cities in the south are flooded and you need to be evacuated.
Great, instead of having a sensible discussion let’s say how great the place we live in is and how shameful the places in trouble should be.
Pollution get bad in salt lake during winter. But NEVER that bad!
I feel bad for India from pakistan
Ghddsfhtfd Fgtdr we don't need u to feel bad for us
Peshawar has horrible air quality
I hate Pakistan. India gave land to you.
Coco Bird Remastered
Pakistan is part of India. They will fail and beg to come back on their knees. Or they will be absorbed by Afghanistan.
British made India give lang to Pakistan, So no.
India is getting worse in terms of environment, education, security. But modi is busy in hindu muslim riots
Pius Mhapsekar Mohdi is busy with Israel and trump butt buddies and spending on Military and nukes
Lil Ladiboi From Bangkok Modi is busy in making a better future for us.
Sabyasachi Datta having more nukes doesn't improve your country... Besides mohdi just spends millions of dollars on the dam statue while that million of dollars can go towards the bullet train in india...
Lil Ladiboi From Bangkok Protection and military power are very much important for India. China is planning to intrude into Northeast Indian states.
Lil Ladiboi From Bangkok Japan is making those bullet trains for us in a very cheap price, don't you know that?
problem starts with construction activity. stop constructing building and see the change. less offices zero construction less traffic jam

Another Indian Genius
India was historically a great country! world should come forward to help India in some of its serious issues like pollution control, open defection, overpopulation, poverty, rapidly increasing Islamic terrorism, state sponsored Casteism (reservation system of India) instead of hating on it unnecessarily. hate will solve nothing
stand up for peace and prosperity.
AntiVirus 1 Protogent, world's first antivirus with data recovery software.
AntiVirus 1
India has the money to solve this problem by themselves. dont ask for outside help when India has corrupted government that doesnt want to spend much in cleaning the air and water
The first step is littering throwing trash any where on the ground , second cars what fuel is being used , and other factors
History is great but truth is present and work should be done for future. India should develop a working environment.
I agree with you AntiVirus.
The current Delhi government is the only one that's doing something about this, the rest of 'em had left the people to their misery.
Get China and India the most populous nations to clean up after themselves. Be responsible.
Awurabena1 it’s also all the fast fashion Americans buy
We didn’t even ask for your help. Besides this is a phase that every developing nation goes through. America was lucky to get through it quickly. This is the kind of argument someone like Donald Trump would make telling the world that China and India are using Coal so we should be able to do so as well. You’ve already passed your industrialization stage and should be looking towards solar solutions but nope. Besides the Chinese and Indian government are planning more growth for renewable energy than a developed nation like America.
Josh L I agree with you. I meant we didn't ask for the help of the OP on top. Nations coming together to help out each other should be the norm
China already start to clean their air
It's just a process of modernizing. Western cities were once too very polluted back until the 70s and 80s, then heavy polluted industry all moved to developing countries like Mexico India SouthEast Asia China then the sky are cleaner now, the byproduct are those Rust Belt cities
People just need to stop having so many children. One or two maybe even three sure. But having like 7+ children really has a big impact on a heavy populated area
We do not kno de wae
I could taste sulphur in the air where I lived in Canada. Waste prod. From nickel refinery. I worked in a running shoe factory and for the first week I had a constant headache. After that, I guess the brain cells were dead no more headache. I don’t know if that’s what happened but most probably I’m right.
AS ALWAYS SUPERB REPORTING FROM THE BEST NEWSPAPER IN THE USA...
As always biased news reporting.
And y’all are here because...?
"struggling to get their arms around the problem" Ban non-commercial vehicles, Ban the use of fossil fuels, install public transportation.
So hard...
Toxic
I usually will not say "no" to a visit to any country, but, as someone who doesn't smoke, the idea i might die from sheer breathing is as good a reason as any!
Give them mustard gas👍🏼😵
what
Lack of catalyzers in cars and too many people is the problem.
Excellent information
And no mention on where the pollution is coming from. Their government should sort it out.
Stop producing plastic bags and clean up your mess.
you don't use plastic bags? at all?
ayy lmao Cant plastic is most versatile of substance hence economical viable and in current situations economy takes precedence over logic, health and even environment.
You may contact us in

Arun Mohanrao what do you do with the plastic bag is the problem don’t just throw it on the ground when done .
Water, air pollution people crapping in the open, sound's like a wonderful place to visit 😕
lol indians😂😂😊
mohammed sayed Nice emoji Pakistani =-O
Jealous?
Lol Indians
Bob Singhv lol chutiya
Being an Indian I can tell you the government has done ZERO constructive work to help.
If people really cared about the environment they wouldn’t tolerate this
Why dont we just come together and help each other our
Instead of us #1 superpower why not use that money to help people
Ulaanbaatar is almost the same, though not quite as bad. Gotta invest in less polluting fuel source.
Reduce the factory pollution, cars, and rubber fire.
It seems like they didnt see china's pollution
if india is smarf india govenrment should reduced use of cars to decrease pollution and use a environment friendly fuel
I really hope India can get better :) Greetings and love from Canada
❤️
If they stuck with clean beautiful coal they wouldn't have this problem
actually its not all of india, its in the urban places...
The whole world should stop using electricity, cars, and anything that causes pollution for a year..
and live in caves again ?
Government Should Take Strong Action
it is same in nepal and nobody is working on it to make it vanish. we are dying.
