One of my best friends who deployed 7x got shot in the chest in a firefight in Afghanistan. He was a Sqd leader at the time. He never stopped fighting either. He didn't stop until his squad was safe, it was a bad day. (He never told me about the story, I heard it from our SgtMaj who at the time was his FSGT) But I guess his 15 years as an 11B in OKARNG don't count. There are hundreds of warfighters out there that dedicated themselves to their craft. Throw some love there way they chewed the same dirt as you motherfuckers. With all the love brothers SFMF

DJ's story is amazing, terrifying, inspiring and very emotional. I've followed his father Don for years on buds131 and navysealexperience. I never served in the military but the respect I have for all soldiers sailors and airman is of the upmost. I always love what his father says to some of the phoneys why would you do this when you served with honour.
DJ gives us an insight that being a tier 1 operator isn't about being hero. Its about service and you buddies respect and honour.
I have a close friend who served in the NZSAS. He talks very much like DJ. He saw some shit but never brags about his own heroics but those of his fellow Daggers.
DJ and his life would make an amazing documentary style tv series.

In the 40’s as a kid my grandpa was playing with blasting caps. Back then farms and the timber industry used them first many different things. And grandpa at 8 proceeded to grab a rock and place the blasting caps on a larger rock and pound them to see what happened.
What happened is he lost his left thumb, forefinger and middle finger. Brutal. Blasting caps ARE sensitive.

This was one hell of an amazing and excellent talk. '06 and '07 were hellish years for sure, we all had crazy stuff happen, and the fighting was constant.
Can verify, a good plate and carrier/ vest will keep the kinetic energy low when hit by a round, I did consultancy and testing for 2 armor companies just a few years ago and one of the live tests put a .308 from 6ft and a green shell 12ga. buck at 3 feet center mass into an AR550 steel plate and nylon plate carrier, the ex-Marine wearing the system didn't even budge, and said he barely felt it, no bruise, nothing. Obviously Ceramic military plates act a little different, but they're robust-- add adrenaline and the chaos of the gunfight to the situation and it likely won't be noticed, which DJ attests to in this clip.

I got shot (right below the heart) when I was 24 during an attempted holdup in South Central Los Angeles in 1973. I heard the explosion but I didn't feel a thing. I looked down and saw a red dot. The shooter ran off and I drove myself to Martin Luther King Hospital and carefully put my stuff away so no one would mess with it before I walked into the emergency entrance. I woke up two days later in ICU with four tubes running in and out of me and a footlong incision on my abdomen. I sure felt something then.

Holy shit!!!! I was in karma in 07. We were providing security for engineers who were filling in a crater caused by an IED that took out one of our Abrams. The enemy had buried twelve 155mm arty rounds in the road. When we entered karma we came into a tow square. Someone took a pot shot at our AAV. I was in the back providing security and the shot was so close it scared the shit out of me. The crew chief spun his turret around and shed us if we saw where the shot came from. We all kept looking to see where the shot came from and then the crew chief spins his turret around again and he is laughing. We look at him like he's crazy and then he points to his turret hatch and there's an impact mark on the hatch. The pot shot missed his head by mere inches.

I was there working alongside them doing are own thing it was all out war. I shot a sucide bomber in a dump truck that blew me up and I was left for dead had to fight threw a huge ambush to survive and get back to OP WERE we fought for 18 more hours. The pilot watching from overhead came to shake my hand days later and said he had never seen anything like it. Then after I recovered I was blown up again by a EPC charge on my birthday. We hunted down many HVTs and elemenated them and we were operating in small teams no support fighting overwhelming odds everyday. But our story will never be told because I'm a Marine not a seal. We lost so many brothers everyone in my team was wounded at least twice. people don't understand that we were in a crazy situation only two roughly 15 man team to fight a whole city of Hagees. Everyday we knew we would fight and lose guys the fighting was that fierce house to house everyday and we were of the leash we did whatever we had to. Never have I heard anyone speak about the insane tempo we were operating at. We captured or killed 326 enemy by the end of that tour. I have never heard of any Marine corps element in the Iraq war that had to do what we did.

I’m not a professional in any capacity, love them for their service and hearing them talk though. It could have been any type of failure to feed from a stove pipe to a magazine issue or the stuck case you mentioned. Stuck case seeming like the least likely as it might have taken a more severe method to clear it than a simple tap/rack or mag change. Again, There’s them and there’s me, I’m definitely not a pro. If it weren’t for their humility I would assume I’m not man enough to stand in their shadows.

@@harrypeterson9287 Mortar, Row, kickstart are the three clearing methods I know other than the initial tap rack bang. Thank you for taking fighting rifle, way too afraid we’re all going to need it before this shit is over. God bless and merry Christmas

@@MBriggs-vu2ko I also was shown a rare malfunction where a cartridge or casing can get stuck up where the charging handle on an AR type rifle rides above the bolt carrier. This can obviously only happen when the charging handle is pulled to the rear.
That one is especially difficult to clear because the round is jammed into the gas tube in front of the charging handle so you can't separate the lower and upper to dig it out because the bolt is stuck partially back into the buffer tube. It's hard to even realize what's going on there if you don't know it's possible.
I learned many things in that class. Everyone who owns an AR should take a fighting rifle class.
Merry Christmas to you as well, and keep an eye out for those Liberal Commie rioters!

The magazine took a round and was jammed up, maybe a round cocked some odd way ,but he fixed it with a mag change it seems.

There has be better way to go up stairs. Maybe stick a long shaft with a camera or mirror to take peek at what is above.
