Corporations are making record profits on the backs of working people. Six corporations run almost all name brand foods. Monopoly is the game they excel at. The port strike should go on until the corporations feel it in their pockets, unfortunately unfortunately
That isn't true. There is a tiny mark up on food. Food inflation is because Biden reduced energy output. Oil is used for everything. If gas cost more, products cost more.

I watched a video from the port workers today, and they stated they do not get sick leave or personal days. Many interviewed said they work 100 hrs a week. The pay increase will span 6 years. Apparently, they are paid less than West Coast workers.
Same information I found earlier today also. I think the bulk of concern is the ports going to automation (like the west coast did) resulting in people losing their jobs.
Look for fuel to skyrocket, too. This strike means the oil terminals in Houston won't be shipping or recieving .
The first $5billion is the first day plus the 3 days to catch up for 1 day...total $20 billion. This doesnt include losses of perishable food stuffs.
Supposedly fuel isn't part of it😮❤
This does not include those folks who work the fuel or cruise ship terminals - specifically noted on the business channels.

Plus those buyers are needing the crops this could cause hunger there.
They have said that for each day of the strike, it is equal to 6 days of supply chain disruption. Personally, I think it's much worse than that.

It's scary because about 75% of the food that we buy are from overseas. Even if foods are produced here in the USA, a lot of the ingredients come from overseas as well. Something to consider is how many resources will be needed to re-stock stores in the recent disaster areas. Even outside the flooding area, many refrigerators will need re-stock due to the power outages. Building supplies etc, etc ..
Data has shown that rebuilding efforts have typically fueled inflation.

@Adventures with Danno. The coffee shrinkflation and pure price increases were planned months ago and have nothing to do with the port strike. Coffee is more expensive because the new crop arrived in late August and throughout September. You will see more specialty kinds discontinued and smaller pigs I predict.
Unfortunately everyone is not in control of their finances. I learned the hard way and some people just won’t stop wasting money.
im over by California in Nevada we have shortages but, its definitely worse on the east coast.. we had no canned corn in our grocery store las week.. this week I hit up the case sale at smiths/kroger bought the peanut butter, sugar and petit tomatoes for no if I can go once more I will

10 companies control everything you buy. If the Kroger/A;bertson merger happens that is 20 stores under one Monopoly. Your phone call to your Fed Rep/Sen. to vote NO matters.
