For people worried about performance it's important to keep in mind voxel rendering techniques have come a long way since minecraft :] from the looks of things I'd guess that they're offloading much (MUCH) more work to the GPU here (or at least the potential to do that is definitely there, even if they're not yet taking advantage of it)

I love automation games, Gretech and Factorio especially. What I love about Factorio is how highly optimized the game is to run large complex factories without performance hits, while also not losing any of the accuracy of the processes going on off screen. That works because Factorio is really just a bunch of 2d sprites and a lot of math. You on the other hand are promising a 3d voxel game with a fully destructible environment, +a colony sim, which already graphically looks like it could struggle on mid-lower end pcs. I'm worried that all that simulation + the graphical style could end up capping the scalability of factories and could box out players with lower end PCs. I love what you're pitching this game to be and I'm rooting for this to work, but performance is my main concern as with most games.
Hey, thank you for voicing your valid concerns. Obviously performance is an issue that has high priority for us. @@DawnApart Looking forward to trying it. Also, I know this is still pretty early into development, but is mod support planned at any point? I think modding does a lot of heavy lifting for Factorio when the base game gets stale and is probably what keeps a large chunk of the veteran player base around.

Super Excited about this game! Huge fan of Factorio and let's be honest, this game looks to fit in the same genre. My question is: how soon are you expecting to release? Why are indys not taking the Factorio or Terraria approach any more? Both released early and made progressive changes through many years and from what I've seen have made millions through iterative releases and engaging with the community to figure out what they wanted rather than releasing a fully built out game all at once. Also... more posts! Gotta build your community and hype it up! Looks great from what I've seen so far, but document the changes more and grow your community!
hey there, thx for your feedback. We're going to release our first demo this summer and then going into EA next year - and subsequently adding stuff as you suggested.
