this just shows that minecraft has absolutely no limits on creativity and beauty. This gets an instant subscribe from me. the ring turned out more amazing than i had expected.
Watching you bend the terrain is easily some of the most unique and fun timelapse footage to come out of Minecraft ever, and that's before the sheer scale of this build is considered. Absolutely mind-blowing.
9:59 It made me wondering: Why didn't you automate it with MCEdit or WorldEdit with a bit of code? (don't know if these are still go-to tools for automated world editing, but I assume the tools today aren't worse compared to what I've been using 8 years ago)
Minecraft always reminded me of Larry Niven’s Ringworld, particularly the way the impossibly flat and incomprehensibly vast landscape is separated from the vacuum of space by a thin layer of indestructible glossy black stuff; I couldn’t help but think of ‘bedrock’ as the ‘Scrith’ described in that novel.
Watching this video gave me a ton of nostalgia for when I used to play Minecraft on my Xbox 360, and I would spend so long messing around on the Halo map that was included with it. I had no grasp on what it was, but I was enthralled by the beauty of the map and the music it had. Been a fan of Halo ever since.
As lifelong Halo fans and Minecraft fans from before release, you have no idea how much time my siblings and I spent trying to make things like this when we were little. But the game just couldn't handle builds like that so we always had these tiny, lame, undetailed versions. The best thing we ever managed was a scaled down Frigate and SOF. And of course those were before there was a Halo texture pack so... Anyway, your builds are the kind of things I've wanted to see in MC for most of my life. Love the videos, keep them coming!
same here i managed to build a ring with mods but i never had it look this good mainly cus mine was smaller and like you said less detailed i love how his halo builds come out tho the best i managed when i was younger was a forrunner ship and rapture from BioShock but still didn't have the flare you want in those this guys builds all look nutty tho patience wise
Could you, in theory, split the ring into quarters, and then create chambers at the location of the splits, where the gravity switches automatically? Then a player can enter that chamber and the gravity would switch for them and the change would not be so jarring.
That would definitely be possible as long as command blocks can run the gravity commands for the player. If they can, you could probably setup command blocks to detect when a player enters a certain area of the world and have it auto switch the gravity accordingly.
@@Sbeev don't know how the mod itself works, but if the commands are player specific, you can still use "/execute as @p run [mod command]" to execute it as the nearest player
As Halo was my first ever first person shooter and being astounded by the rings, this is the build I’ve been waiting for someone to do properly for so long, what a legend
Holy crap, even with the building tools and ability to copy structures I can’t imaging the time and concentration needed for this project. Halo is my favorite gaming franchise so this is epic.
This might be a little late, but you could avoid problems like water/sand falling by running the command //perf off prior to manipulating them. Not exactly sure how that gravity mod works, but hopefully it saves some pain in the future :)
I have always wanted to try building a halo ring in MC, but was discouraged by the lack of vertical space. Seeing the view from your finished instillation, looking up and seeing the other side of the ring was a dream come true. Well done.
Dude, your builds are amazing and on another level. Literally haha. Being a Halo fan since 2’s release, and seeing you do these mega structures justice is just, words can’t describe how awesome it is to see so much passion for a game from my childhood. Awesome work and I can’t wait to see you do more.
The planet, Threshhold, is a hot Jupiter with moons bigger than Earth itself. Basis may LOOK like Earth's moon, but it has a larger radius than Earth itself.
Physically speaking, the center of mass for a ring world would be the center of the ring, pulling everything to the center. Real people would have to ensure that their ring world never stopped spinning.
I love this build, you built a Ring that uses the mod to change gravity, it's functional and looks awesome! I love original ideas, not building a floating island and dividing it into Minecraft biomes!
@@SirkyNL idk, its more that it's two sentences that both start with "i love", dividing the sentence into a point and explanation, and ending in an exclamation. its either gpt or a school english project.
The last couple of shots with the BGM really took me back to the moment I stepped out of the escape pod all those years ago in Halo CE for the very 1st time. It's a very pleasant, but indescribable emotion. "Blinded by its majesty" is close enough.
7:44 Imagine if you could get one of the brackets to have a trigger that plays Siege of Madrigal like the one in Halo CE has... 7:52 I gotta say, I love the designs of both the Halo 3 and CE Control Room Ziggurats but the CE one is significantly more convenient to climb... That is unless you don't do the Banshee Skip to just get to the end of the level.
It's as well you didn't go for Larry Niven's Ringworld for scale... that one is truly insane. Heck, there's one ocean on it that _literally_ has multiple worlds re-created as islands at a 1:1 scale, at least as a Mercator projection.
My best recommendation for you to do for next time for something like this? Replace all water blocks with a solid block (like blue concrete) and replace said concrete with the water later after you've layered on all the barrier blocks.
You should definitely try to build High Charity or Requiem next. That would be such an awesome build and I would watch an 11 hour video on you making them. Theres a shader that warps your vision to make it look like youre in a concave world such as a ring world, for playability, such shader would make a project like this quite extraordinary.
my first thought was this too, along with a teleport to reset you for a full loop. And i imagine its possible to code something to mirror blocks placed at a certain distance from the seam so teleporting doesnt change what you see
Minecraft mega structures have come such a long way. Anyone remember the first mega structures like Earth, or Starship Enterprise? Those are still impressive, but to see what mods and creativity can make today just leaves me speechless.
For your world edit problem with all the holes you can get the filled in but using a half way increment, for example you create 2 hollow cylinders //hcyl 10 stone and //hcyl 11 stone, you can do //hcyl 10.5 stone to fill in the holes
This is awesome! Can you do some UNSC and Covenant ships in 1:1 scale? I would love to see those too! “Men, we led those dumb bugs out to the middle of nowhere to keep 'em from gettin' their filthy claws on Earth. But, we stumbled onto somethin' they're so hot for, that they're scramblin' over each other to get it. What we will let 'em have is a belly full of lead, and a pool of their own blood to drown in! Am I right, Marines?"
this is amazing, but honestly, it could be terrible and you would still deserve to have this video do well after the sheer amount of effort you put into this.
You could potentially use command blocks and a mod like Additional Placements to place pressure plates vertically and then trigger the gravity change automatically so that you can run around the ring without stopping.
