  • The stock springs that come with most 3d printers are cheap and can cause bed-level issues, which can ultimately affect the object you are printing. Fortunately for us, there are aftermarket options we can get to fix the problem. In this video, I show you how to replace the springs with solid bed mounts and what's required after the bed mounts are installed.

    Probably not a big deal but FYI you did twist your wires coming off the build plate when you removed and replaced the bed. 2:48 you flip it over counterclockwise, 4:28 you flip it counterclockwise again and can see the harness is twisted after.

    If you're having trouble getting the plastic casing off of the wire to the bed plate, just use a small flathead screwdriver. Slid it up the side underneath the cap it usually pops pretty easy

    Great video I have had pretty good luck with the ones I installed on my pro. I have done major updates to it now with linear rails for all 3 axes, then I was doing a dual z setup but I found out I have an issue with the v-rail extrusion likely a bolt hole that was not tapped straight as when I tighten everything down it causes binding on the z at the top so I can't use it till I replace the v-rails.

    Good evening. I have a CR-10 S5 CR Touch, 500x500x500 build volume. I am having such a hard time making it stay level. I am going to install metal spacers with an inner diameter wide enough to go around the nuts holding the screws in place underneath instead of the silicone mounts to have a "flat" and not moving bed level. My Anycubic Kobra Maxes (2) and my Kobra Plus have these hard spacers also with locknuts to hold the bed down with ABL. I won't be able to adjust the knobs because of the solid spacers being locked down with locknuts. Would I just level the center when it homes since it would be mostly flat across the board, or would I need to make adjustments of Z height with the controls on the box, or switch to an endstop switch? I am just tired of minute little adjustments that will screw up the whole bed level, and tired of having to mess with it and not being able to have a print successfully complete, not to mention the extruder always skipping because of inconsistencies in the bed level. Thank you kindly.

    • @3DPrintscape
      @3DPrintscape  4 месяца назад

      Hi. I would still manually level all four corners as much as possible (not sure how much flexibility the solid mounts will offer). Then assuming your using a bltouch/crtouch make sure its plugged in along with the z stop. Set the z offset, then adjust the height of the z stop to make sure it can be triggered if the abl fails.

      I take the bed all the way down then move the axis to it. It doesnt need to be perfect here, just enough so that when the axis is moved by the stepper the nozzle doesnt scrape against the build plate.

    I have been thinking of swapping out the springs for solid mounts on my printers apart from the Ender 3 that I keep 100% stock standard, its the way I determine any benefit to upgrades on the other Enders, I have the upgraded springs on my printers and for the most part they work well but eventualy the tension moves and they have to be relevelled.

      Hi. It wont make a difference assuming everything is level and the z stop switch is set right.

  • @dingus1983
    @dingus1983 Год назад

    I just swapped out the springs on mine but I have another issue (that started before I decided to swap them out) which is ever since I installed the magnetic flexible build plate, I haven't been able to level the bed properly. Because of the height difference of going from a glass bed to a thinner surface, I can't get the build plate to sit high enough and the wheels get completely loose when trying to raise the bed high enough to reach the nozzle. The issue is the z offset can be lowered a little more but the bottom of another metal part (not sure the technical name for it) gets in the way and it can't lower anymore because of that piece. Any suggestions for this?

    • @3DPrintscape
      @3DPrintscape  Год назад

      Hi. The only thing I can think of would be to get longer springs to raise the bed up a little or cut the little plastic piece on the z stop that hits the frame. That will allow you to lower it a bit more.

  • @luischevere4677

    I purchased this and set my z offset but the issue im having is when do it. The left side is too close to the nozzle while the right side isn’t. I’m not sure how to resolve the issue.

    I put the solid bed mounts on and a glass plate and it made the print bed alot thicker, I tightened the leveling screws down pretty tight but it didn't feel right so I backed them off and instead raised the z stop, my question is how tight should they be? Too tight and I feel ill damage the mounts and too loose they'll just back themselves out and need releveling constantly
