Agreed. The bass, in particular, is so dialed in. It’s punchy on top, and filled out on the low end “thump”, w/out sounding mushy. Doesn’t get much better than that. Just stumbled across this today. After just hearing a few of these recordings, they are all like that, but with adjustments made in regard to the particular style, arrangement, vocalist, and choice of song. Brilliant work.

To be fair (and this is from first hand experience) techniques in drumming are only hard for a finite amount of time (when they are new to you) once you have trained your brain to properly instruct your body to perform the requisite coordination to play something it becomes easy. Therefore if a drummer wants to play hard things he has to be constantly learning new things to play.
You mean playing fast or playing quiet? Other than that can't really see what hardcore technique you are talking about.

The hard thing about covering this song, is that there is only one Axle and one Slash sound, so it always falls short, but when you make it completely your own, it's a whole lot of fun. Of the SC'OM rabbit hole I've gone down, this is my favorite.

Everyone...like, EVERYONE is great at what they do here. That singer is sooooo good. That keyboardist clearly loves his job (he's this energetic in every song I see him in) and he's fantastic. That bass player? Jesus. That bass was insane. The percussionist was also a gem. Everyone knew where to be, when to be, and how to be. Seriously, a great performance. You killed it and I love it.

I don't know enough about music to be able to talk about it technically but the singer always hits notes that I'm not expecting and takes it in an interesting direction relative to the original song. Someone who knows more about music could probably articulate that better but I love that about it.
Yeah and I'm not completely convinced he has the capacity to sing the note and hold it. I would have loved just one classic line to prove it rather than dropping the line and bringing it back every time. He is doing it a different hard way, i won't disagree with that.....but i want to hear him belt the line too.....
