I don't think you need to worry about a pressure cooker becoming a bomb, as long as you handle it properly.
I've seen people open up the lid without depressurizing the insides and, well, bomb.

That's just cooked condensed milk. They sell that at grocery stores....
You can do something similar with that with the can of sweetened condensed milk. But instead of putting in that kind of pot you put it on your stove and you boil it for 2 hours keeping the can fully submerge and then you let it sit in the water into the water cools itself. Then waited they open it up and you'll have caramel.
My mum made this when i was a kid, took her at least 5 hours on a slow boil, i remember it was super important to keep the cans submerged, or Bang!, I'm making this now. Many thanks.

We use cans of sweetened condensed milk except for the eagle brand. For some reason that brand does not thicken.

You’re Low-key poisoning your own community… let me explain before you write off my comment.
Metal cans have a liner that will release harmful chemicals if you heat it up at high temperatures like that. They will leak into the food… and while you might not notice it, yes it’s harmful.
If you don’t believe me I really encourage you to do some research before you go out and poison your community out of ignorance. I’m sure you’re a good person and just don’t understand what you’re doing. Plz stop.

This stuff is soooooo good. My dad picked up this trick when he worked for a restaurant that would boil a stock pot full of cans every morning to make their "caramel" pies. You can do it in just a normal pot on the stove.

My grandpa has been completely blind for almost 10 years, partially blind for about 20 years before his car accident(already had glaucoma and the accident ruptured some nerve I can't remember the name of). But he makes bacon, grills, makes tea, when he's walking around the house you can barely tell he can't see, it's so amazing what our bodies do when we lose a sense completely. He'll always be my hero, the strongest man/person I know, and my rock.

This can be super dangerous if you don't pop the can, sometimes the can will pop and spray boiling hot liquid everywhere, if you try this make sure you release the pressure and keep the water under the top of the can!
I do the same almost, but I use my oven, a deep, glass baking dish filled with some water and then just bake it and keep an eye on the water level. Works great and is delicious on ice cream, pecans, pancakes, waffles, and so much more. Ice cream, waffles, and dulce de leche together is awesome
We submerge the can in a stobepot on low heat, covered, for about 3 hours. It makes the caramel WAYYY more smooth and creamy, and less curdled in texture

Not to be that person, and I’m not exactly sure who will read this, but it is not safe to use hot water from the tap to cook or drink because the pipes in the tank that hold the water that go through your tabs have a lot of metal contaminants in it and hot water will melt them and shake them loose so that way when you use hot water immediately for cooking and drinking you will get all of those contaminants into your food I suppose to if you used cold water. It’s a real thing I promise I only found out a couple months ago.

@@TheHortoman Naw. That was curdled or something. I'm sure it's fine and just needs to be stirred up some more, but what was on the spoon looked a little off. Maybe it's using the instant pot instead of the boiling method.

It might taste the same(I wouldn't know-like you said "probably"), but the consistency is a factor and it looks like it would not be as creamy/spreadable. In other words, the OP is not wrong. It does have a different look to it, as you basically agreed that it does look curdled. But go on and fight about it...

Would recommend moving the canned food into a glass jar as the plastic lining in the can is at risk of leaching chemicals into the food but I assume this isn’t done very often so most likely it’s completely fine

This actually works FYI. And you don't need a pressure cooker. You can use just boiling water. And even 40 mins might be too much. That's why it's a little chunky. But it's so good. Like creamy, milky caramel.
All you have to do is shake it before opening and it won’t be chunky like that.
@hughw7157 that's fair too. Like coconut milk. Needs a shake. I still prefer mine less dark though. Which doesn't need a shake. Especially if you move the can here and there while boiling. Still though, it doesn't need pressure cooker

Now with that you can make a chocolate and caramel square’s recipe is.
Crush biscuits add some melted butter Put that in a square pan and flatten . Then add ya caramel you made then add melted chocolate on top. Put in fridge to set and cut in to slices.
