I've had the 925 for two months now. Had to choose between the HTC Desire and this. I'm still amazed that even though its an outdated phone even when it was first launched, it never once felt outdated. The software is fast and fluid and the camera is just great. It may have a few colour balance issues and 1 out of 5 indoor shots just looks bland, it still is an awesome camera. The updates that nokia rolls out are very good in keeping the phone up to date and some features like the screen colour temprature control is something I wish every smartphone had. The speaker quality is excelent and the Dolby headphone enhancement is miles ahead of beats audio. It does have flaws though. The screen seems to scratch easily. after a few days of putting it in and out of my pocket, scratches already start to appear and the some flaking seem to appear on the aluminium sides. Any app like 9 gag or instagram often crashes and the music playback goes away when ever and annnoying video on instagram plays automatically and you can't access it from the volum dropdown.
I got the 925 now for 5 or 6 months and I'm still very happy with it. The fact that everyday there are new updates and that more and more apps come to the market makes it so much better :)
you said it looks great 'especially in black', I think it looks great in all except black. White and grey are gorgeous, black back plate just doesn't suit it in my opinion. I got my 925 a month and a half ago. I would've definitely go for 1020 if the price difference was only 50$, but since I got 925 for 250€ and 1020 is 200€ more, I went for 925. I switched from android phone, it got laggy and slow, incompatible with most apps that required 4.1 or more (of course I got stuck on 4.0 after one update). I really like it, I'm glad I went for windows phone (I still have my Nexus 7 2012, so I can use android if I need it), it's fast, smooth, doesn't lag, does everything I need it to do. Mainly I use it for camera, news/rss and messaging. It could be 5 mm narrower, like the 720 (which is perfect size for me), but I'm slowly getting used to it. I really like the cold feel of aluminum frame, it makes it feel very premium, but I rather not risk it carrying it outside protective cover, it tends to slip easily. I'm happy with my purchase, I found all the apps that I need, even if the name of the app is not the same as on android, I really like the glance screen and tap to wake up, physical camera button rocks, and power button on the side is positioned perfectly. I do miss some extra storage (I got 16GB one, 32 was not available), but it's not a dealbreaker. I'd recommend this phone to anyone who's not too closed minded to consider windows phone. The camera is great, the price is fair. It could be narrower, but I have small hands, so not many may find this an inconvenience.
I just bought my Lumia 925 in Black and so far this is the most gorgeous phone ive ever had :) i was a Lumia 920 user a month a go and and dont like its weight but aside from that both phones are very good especially in fluidity, battery and camera. Lovin my Lumia 925 every each day :))) how i wish nokia will build a NOKIA LUMIA 925 with a specs of a Lumia 1520 or the new Nokia Lumia Icon.
Believe it or not, I'm still using my Lumia 925, which I acquired in December of 2013, in March of 2021. The hardware still works perfectly, but there is less and less support for the software. I will--reluctantly--be upgrading to a new Android or iOS phone soon for that reason only. I love my Windows phone, and I'm going to miss it!
Hi from Portugal. I ust bought my Lumia 925 this week. One year after it came out... The big question left by this episode of "After the buzz" is right now answered. Yes the Windows phone 8.1 is rolling in all is glory on the 925 as fluidly as ever or, I think better than ever. So 1 year passed and the 925 is the same beauty but more complete and funcional now... and at half of the original price at least. :) yes Nokia Lumia 925 is na "absolute beauty"
I have the 925 with the Windows phone 8.1 dev preview update and those shortcomings doesn't exist anymore. The battery has improved significantly, more and more apps are coming every day and the people-hub is redone. I got no problem with battery, the camera is amazing and I can totally recommend this phone! ✴✴✴✴✴ Also super fluid.
I have this and wp8.1 with the 3rd update has improved battery life. i love the camera specially low light. Never regret buying this. I gave my renewal phone samsung g5 to my wife.
Chums Pelaez it should be coming later next year, but next year something far more exciting is coming to all Lumia Phones, Namely: Windows 10 (mobile version) just remember that every Lumia Windows 8 phones has a guaranteed 36 months of support ;)
I actually just got this in white yesterday! And honestly from the second that I started running through and got to really actually using it, it felt like letting go of a day old fart from my old iPhone. It just feels warm and minimalistic while retaining familiarity. Not to mention the great linking that happened between this and my other devices. Definitely worth the change.
I bought the 925 2weeks ago, and I feel I'm holding a unique phone. I hope that microsoft will not abandon the software support of this beautiful phone.
bought a 2nd hand lumia 925 and immediately installed windows 8.1 developers preview Cortana. loved the performance. very nice camera. used the 925's camera more than my iPhone 5s.
I purchased 1020 for myself but was dazzled after my dad got 925. Repenting ever since he got 925. It's so awesome and light, plus the black colour looks really premium. If I would have known the those manual settings were coming on 925, I wouldn't have bought 1020.
z4520ft of course the quality of 1020 pics is cooler than that of 925. But while taking a masterpiece, the size becomes almost like 9-10 MB per pic. The 1020 can't share the 38MP pic. But 925 can share the 8.7 MP pic.
i bought the Lumia 925 earlier this Christmas, and i got to say i fell in love with it! feels nice in the hands, everyone envy me :P updates are still available, but i am impatiently waiting for the 8.1 hoping it would work for 925. AWESOME PHONE for a nokia fan! this is the real deal for its price!
I have a Lumia 920 and I have just ordered the 1520. Really the size was the only thing missing from my 920, if it was at least 5.5 inches then I wouldn't need a phone at all. This could possibly be my last phone I own for years to come. Unless the storage space becomes a problem.
just ordered mine ..with whats still a great camera by standards and offline maps ,Nokia music and is now half its original price I think its very good value for what your getting even if its not quite at the cutting edge anymore...
personally for me where not only Nokia Phones are scarce but Windows phones in general in my country of Canada -( except for the exclusive contract Rogers Wireless has with Nokia phones ) which they haven't gotten any new ones since the release of the pentaband version of the Lumia 1020. Getting this phone new or used /bad IMEI and unlocking it in using in my country for the decent price point I got for it on Ebay at 120 bucks plus 10 dollars shipped. Than I am a happy camper more so because this is the only Provider ( T Mobile ) that I can unlock that will work with my provider that only uses the 1700/2100 mhz frequency. Set aside buy the pentaband version for 500 Canadian - I think I made a solid purchase the other day. Especially from owning a Lumia 820 for over a year and was happy with that device. This great review months later after release has only solidified and confirmed my findings for the reason I purchased this -great video and thanx
Home Shopping Network. HSN.com. T-Mobile version. It just came in today after the USPS lost it. Still trying to see how I like it. But knowing 8.1 will be here soon, I'm sure I'll keep it. If it weren't for the new 8.1 features, I doubt I would keep it. Joseph Zhang
realy a great thx to u all poketnow team I'm working on the nikia lumia 925 for my marketing test in schole and u helped me so much to make a great worck thx :), and i'm planing to buy one or a 1020
I have my at... 2 years I think, still great phone, I abuse it every day, no covers no nothing, sure it has scratchs but never misses a beat! Still a great phone, I see no reason to upgrade at all!
The pace at which ALL (!) smartphones are aging is staggering. Regardless whether it's HW or SW a three year old phone looks like a Ford Pinto in 2013 and even last years model raises concerns about its ability to run upcoming games. Considering the price point that's despicable. Yikes.
extremely useful...i think a lot of ppl who cant afford the high end devices might get to decide through whether something like a 925 is good enough for them.....
925 is an amazing phone for the price. You can get it off-contract now for around $200, and works great with the Windows Phone 8.1 update. Wish they would do a re-review with WP 8.1.
Michael, the clipboard gets cleared every time the screen times out or you put it in standby. Increase the screen timeout to partially get around this.
I've had this phone for over a year and a half. Has always been a good phone but the USB charging point is going faulty. I've brought a QI back plate to slove this problem. Negative for the 925 Battery life on my mine was 4hrs with heavy use, sat nav & gaming. Maybe 16hrs moderate use. Battery bank would be a good investment. The phone gets hot if using while on charge. I got charmed by the 1520 and have decided to buy one. I do love how i can slip the 925 into my pocket but the 1520 screen is amazing. I watch TV through my slingbox app and don't know how i could watch anything on the 925 now that i have a 1529. I'll just have to get use to the size.
Nice review, I like the flatter designs, but to me the Windows Phone OS doesn't capture the right kind of simplistic beauty I generally prefer. Also, when will you guys be doing a follow up for the Sony Z1/Honami, or have you already and I missed it? So far I've only seen buzz, and some of it disgruntled me with the software lagginess being among the top 5 things. Will you be waiting for 4.4 update or have you just not gotten one in stock yet? Thanks for your time.
Good review as always! Can you do a side by side comparison between 1520 and note 3? I'm undecided right now which phone to get. Thanks and keep em coming....from Sweden
I never got a bloody carrying pouch. Had to add a Terrapin case too because I found it too slippy and my first one was dropped and the ecreen shattered. Still love it though.
I bought my 925 back in June and I'm a huge fan of the device. Some of the issues with the OS have been addressed by Microsoft in the latest GDR3 update available for everyone with a developer account (even the basic studio app). Windows phone is getting better everyday. I consider myself a very dynamic user with my iPad mini, nexus 7 and 925. I see WP as the most productive and stable platform. iOS is great btw. In my opinion, it is a gorgeous device and as MF said, Nokia almost couldn't make the design better than this. The only major issue I have found is the one that MF pointed: there is some kind of battery drain behavior when you keep using it for a few minutes in a row. I believe that will be a fix for that in the future WP updates. Great job MF!
OH wow I love it !! its a good lovely smart phone, people think that apple is the best and the only one, but you know what? there is a good phones like this one, i changed mi IOS for windows 8 and i'm in love with it.
I'm thinkin of getting a 925, I'm still using a lumia 800 "crap cellphone contract finally near its end I'm on with no good upgrade options" I'll just buy one from the states & put my simcard in it. Any pros cons about your 925?
I also just ordered this phone for $199.99 from Newegg and will be receiving it today. It was on a special 48 h deal. The price can not be beat because the MS Store and T-Mobile list the 925 'no contract' over 2 times the price I got my phone. My current phone is a 6 year old Motorola Q Android. I think it was time for an upgrade ... lolz. I decided to use Windows Phone because I'm a Windows user and wanted to keep the look and feel of my user interfaces consistent from smart phone to tablet to PC. Hopefully, when the consumer release of Windows 8.1 is available I will be accustomed with the Windows Phone user interface. By the way, I liked the video presentation. Not a lot of these review sites return to products after they are initially released.
Watching this on my Lumia 920 made me want a 925... Haha. Great review. Can't wait to see what WP 8.1 can do to fix some of the problems you point out.
I want to get a refurbished lumia device but I can't make up my mind whether I get the 920 or the 925 ? In my opinion , lumia 920 wins when it comes to design I really love it even though it feels bulky I don't mind the extra weight . But is the camera on L925 anybetter ? Should I go with L925 because of camera ?
Love my 925 the battery is amazing its just I love music so I wish it had some kind of audio enhancer aside from the eq. I love taking pictures of scenery with vivid colors and it helps capture alot
The problem with that phone is the fact that the screen breaks easily, it heats up a bit to fast and plus the headphone jack breaks easily. Also you can't remove the battery, not only that but they never fixed the blue screen on that phone
I'm considering between 920 and 925. Isn't 16GB of storage (without micro sd suport) too low? And price... (in Poland with subscribtion 26$) lumia 920: 107$ lumia 925: 317$ Is buying 925 in THAT price really worth it?
About storage: depends how you use your phone. I take a lot of photos, and I usually listen to one or two albums at the time, so I use a lot of my storage for photos, and little for music, I use lots of apps too, so there goes storage again, but after a month and a half of usage (photos taken daily) and around 50 apps installed, I still have 7GB free. Skydrive integration is great, you can save your photos in skydrive and remove them from device. In my previous phone, I had a 32GB card, and it was never more then half full, so decide for yourself. 925 is lighter, the screen is much more vivid, and blacks are truly amazing, its supposed to have better camera as well. I decided to go for 925 (I got it for 250€, it was some special offer) and I don't regret it, even though I think I could've gotten the 920 for less. 210€ difference is quite high though, so go to the store, play around with both of them and decide for yourself. If you intend to use wireless charging, you need to purchase additional cover for 925 which is another 20€ or so, while 920 has it built it
I just bought one! Loving it and wondering why mine doesn't have LTE support? Bummer. But hey amoled and windows 8.1 is great but still wishing for windows 10. Fingers crossed!
love this phone been looking at 930 or 830 just for the battery life but they just arent the same i gonna wait till they make a new 925 with upgraded specs
This was my 2nd smartphone after the NL810. This was such an elegant phone but had a lousy battery life. That phone was all the phone i needed. One of the best cameras on a smartphone then or now. It would be nice if Nokia would bring back these designs now that they are running android. Like the Nokia N8 or N9. I very much doubt Samsung would have been the leader in android phones today if Nokia had gotten there first .
I'd really like to own one. If not a 1020. I've heard Windows Phone 8 has a 36 month support cycle or something so I would think it should get the next revision.
I've had the 925 for two months now. Had to choose between the HTC Desire and this. I'm still amazed that even though its an outdated phone even when it was first launched, it never once felt outdated. The software is fast and fluid and the camera is just great. Once again, a fair and balanced review from the Michael and the PocketNow crew. Looking forward to the next one.

Bought this phone and have been happy with it...good info.
Pocketnow is the only channel in RUclips with no any biased opinion towards any specific platform. They know, good is to be said good.
Bought my 925 two weeks ago and I love it! it's beautifully designed and WP8 can only get better.
I got this phone exactly one year back.. I've to say that my experience is awesome.
I still love my Lumia 900. Still a beast.
I've had the 925 since it launched on T mobile. Really couldn't be happier coming from 3 years of androids.
I just bought my Lumia 925 in Black and so far this is the most gorgeous phone ive ever had :) i was a Lumia 920 user a month a go and and dont like its weight but aside from that both phones are very good especially in fluidity, battery and camera. nice, best review on lumia 925 yet... now I really wanna buy this phone
Wow! You’re so lucky! My Lumia 830 stopped working after four years. I reluctantly switched to the iPhone. Windows phone was very unique!
Hi from Portugal. I ust bought my Lumia 925 this week. One year after it came out... The big question left by this episode of "After the buzz" is right now answered. Great review....always appreciate this part of the uploads!
i have a 925. It has been a year now... i love it...
After over 1 year with it, still a great phone, and still in top shape, and no I don't take any special care with it, not even covers.
bought 50days ago.....n the experience is just awesome....please GO FOR IT, if u r planning for the best phone to buy :)
had it since last september. having a blast with it. Just an amazing phone.

I hope that microsoft will not abandon the software support of this beautiful phone.
When did Tony Stark start doing mobile phone reviews?
Had 925 for months now & recently got 8.1 update & have had no problems with phone, had iPhone & htc one x in past & this is as good if not better.
bought a 2nd hand lumia 925 and immediately installed windows 8.1 developers preview Cortana. loved the performance. very nice camera. used the 925's camera more than my iPhone 5s.
I just got this phone for my birthday today and it's pretty good I Love it actually
best smartphone ever)i bought my 925 after watching this video)thanks mr.Fisher)
I have fallen in love nothing more i can say .Thanks Nokia lumia 925.
I purchased 1020 for myself but was dazzled after my dad got 925. Repenting ever since he got 925. It's so awesome and light, plus the black colour looks really premium. If I would have known the those manual settings were coming on 925, I wouldn't have bought 1020.
I believe the image quality shot by 1020 is always better than 925. how about you have a test with your father's 925 first
I'll swap my 925 for your 1020 (but only if you have the yellow one) :D
Jan Tomšič I have the yellow one. Would have exchanged right away if we were living in same city. Different country is a bit difficult for me.

updates are still available, but i am impatiently waiting for the 8.1 hoping it would work for 925.
AWESOME PHONE for a nokia fan! this is the real deal for its price!
Just bought this because it has all 8.1 features, its awesome its beautiful, it has GLANCE screen, not like 930. And its now cheap in mexico.
How do you rate the phone? Out of 10?
I own that phone for 4 months, it's great. If i don't use wifi or 3g i charge it every 2-3 days. Camera and Display are great
If only I could get it to run windows 10! Loved this phone sooo much!
Really like your reviews, Michael :) They look so accurate. And the way you talk makes it really enjoyable to hear too :) Good job once again ^^
great video. Great handset. Using it since 4 months. Spectacular phone!
I have a Lumia 920 and I have just ordered the 1520. Really the size was the only thing missing from my 920, if it was at least 5.5 inches then I wouldn't need a phone at all. This could possibly be my last phone I own for years to come. Unless the storage space becomes a problem.

I miss this phone. I think I'm gonna buy a used one for storing...
unfortunately I switched to Android almost a year ago...
Another awesome video, I just got my hand on the 925 in T-mobile store, and for the first time, I must says that the white look better than the black
Just ordered this phone. It's on sale for $199.99 off contract. Can't wait to try Windows Phone OS again. Also can't wait ot try out 8.1.
Where you get it from??? T mob or ATT version?
Home Shopping Network. HSN.com. T-Mobile version. It just came in today after the USPS lost it. Still trying to see how I like it. But knowing 8.1 will be here soon, I'm sure I'll keep it. If it weren't for the new 8.1 features, I doubt I would keep it. Joseph Zhang

Battery saving option can prevent live tiles from updating.
Michael, have you already or are you planning to do an AtB episode on Lumia 720?
Love my Lumia 925

Exept for the HTC HD7. It's just going to keep running every OS for phones out there. For ever.
Don't know where you're getting this from but last years flagships are holding up just fine. The GS3, N4, X+, DNA, and OG are all doing fine.
planning on getting this to replace my busted 620
Great vid, can't wait for Windows Phone 8.1!

love this series
Best channel technique and a very cool phone
One of tde best video introductions is made by you.Cool.

The WP8.1 update due in April will bring massive exciting changes.
Hi Michael, how's the audio quality perform with a premium headphone/earphone? Thank you.
Thinking of upgrading from my 920, would it be possible to get a comparison of the two?
I never got a bloody carrying pouch. Had to add a Terrapin case too because I found it too slippy and my first one was dropped and the ecreen shattered. Still love it though.
I bought a Nokia lumia 925 for my third phone that I would use on AT&T and my main two phones are on T-Mobile.
Good phone even in 2015 ..battery life is good I go thru my day just fine with it when I plugged to my charger is still in 50%
I bought my 925 back in June and I'm a huge fan of the device.
Great job MF!
are there any issues with the lumia 925? how is the display and camera of this phone?
Great job as usual!!
i would love to have a 925 :) someday
Does it have RAW image format?
I already bought my Nokia lumia 925 :)
I wat to buy it too, but I'm not sure yet. Is it a good phone? Do you like it? -Thanks ;)
OH wow I love it !! its a good lovely smart phone, people think that apple is the best and the only one, but you know what? there is a good phones like this one, i changed mi IOS for windows 8 and i'm in love with it.
Thank you for your reply. ;) I want this phone :D
But the nokia 930 is about to release these june...
I'm thinkin of getting a 925, I'm still using a lumia 800 "crap cellphone contract finally near its end I'm on with no good upgrade options" I'll just buy one from the states & put my simcard in it. Any pros cons about your 925?
What's the game u always play...the one with the coloured circles and the lone and stuff...looks interesting
Nice video and i Love my Nokia Lumia 925.. Good switch from htc radar.
How long does window update their phones for ?
Watching this on my Lumia 920 made me want a 925... Haha. Great review. Can't wait to see what WP 8.1 can do to fix some of the problems you point out.
Watching this on Lumia 925 :)
How long is the battery life exactly?
Y es interesting but you haven’t said anything about phone like sending, receive mail and keep numbers, or have I missed it. Thanks Ann
When are you/ pocketnow gonna do a galaxyS4 vs the Nexus5?
love my 925... I use a cover and it looks like on the first day :)
what version of windows is this..?
I want to get a refurbished lumia device but I can't make up my mind whether I get the 920 or the 925 ?
In my opinion , lumia 920 wins when it comes to design I really love it even though it feels bulky I don't mind the extra weight . But is the camera on L925 anybetter ?
Should I go with L925 because of camera ?
+Samy_06 don't buy a lumia
Please make a 925 durability report please
Love my 925 the battery is amazing its just I love music so I wish it had some kind of audio enhancer aside from the eq. I love taking pictures of scenery with vivid colors and it helps capture alot
already have a galaxy s4 but I really want to buy this phone!
The problem with that phone is the fact that the screen breaks easily, it heats up a bit to fast and plus the headphone jack breaks easily. Also you can't remove the battery, not only that but they never fixed the blue screen on that phone
Just bought lumia 925 coming from xperia z1 compact :)
Michael could you do an After the Buzz episode on the LG Optimus G Pro?
I'm considering between 920 and 925. Isn't 16GB of storage (without micro sd suport) too low? And price... (in Poland with subscribtion 26$) lumia 920: 107$
lumia 925: 317$ Is buying 925 in THAT price really worth it?
If you intend to use wireless charging, you need to purchase additional cover for 925 which is another 20€ or so, while 920 has it built it
Jan Tomšič Ok thanks, I appreciate your anwser and I think I will stay by 920, because of price.
I still use lumia 925 as my daily driver and I really love it...........awesome mobile!!!!!!!!
I'd really like to own one. If not a 1020.
I've heard Windows Phone 8 has a 36 month support cycle or something so I would think it should get the next revision.
Does anybody know whether the lumia 925 does the same good job at recording audio as the lumia 920?
