Nice tutorial! Question: I notice you use this as an insert rather than a Send. Why? When should you send and when insert?

    • @marcelogutierrez6489
      @marcelogutierrez6489 Месяц назад +4

I asked this to my teacher a while ago, basically using a reverb insert makes it sound far away cuz the mix knob in the plugin does it so that you "loose" 20% of the vocal if the mix is at 20%, the more mix the less vocal. then if its a send, it's like paralell compression he told me, you have your unaltered dry and you add the reverb to taste, that way you don't "loose" signal like with the mix knob before, you just add more to what it is already there, sorry for the bad english btw

@@marcelogutierrez6489 Interesante, Marcelo.

I think something important to note is alot of producers will route the reverb in from a separate track. Weeknd is a good example of that it preserves quality while having a lovely wash. I never bought vintage because the same algorithms are used in Supermassive, and that is free.

My question is, was this the final tutorial of this reverb? And again, sure the EQ is more effective than the reverb embedded EQs. And you talked about applying third party EQ on it, So how you gonna apply an EQ on the reverb
being that the mix level is about 15%, meaning you can as well apply the reverb directly on the vocal without side chaining?
Again, is it a must to adopt the popular method out there of side channing the reverb so you can control it, I.e the method that let's you apply efx like EQ, compressor on the reverb so the reverb ducks while the vocal plays and the reverb releases after the vocal finishes playing to achieve that upfront vocal?
This method is nice, but I am facing one problem especially with the valhalla, after the vocal finishes playing, the amount of swelling that comes with the teil is what I don't like, it usually have longer teil and the reverb will be everywhere, and trying to mess with the decay knob by reducing it, the lesser wetness I get, though many people said that is what they love, but I had like my vocal to be very wet, still you can't or barely notice a longer teil of the decay of the reverb, example is " Fortniggt by Taylor swift, extremely wet and blur) but you notice no extra long teil from the reverb after vocal finishes. Meanwhile, if I apply the reverb directly on the vocal, I will just derive what I wanted ( wet but no long teil of decay) but unable to control the reverb itself.
Pls If you get my question, I will like to get your feedback on this if you have better idea...

I just don't get why everyone keeps saying that Valhalla plugins are cheap in 2024. How is €50 cheap for a basic reverb??
The brand new Izotope Aurora costs literally €38 if you own any other Izotope plugin... Raum by NI is FREE, people! Amazing reverb...
What about Arturia's top-tier reverbs which can be had for pocket change as part of their FX bundle when it's on sale? What about your DAW's stock reverbs? I could go on...
I feel like Valhalla is just like Fabfilter in this regard. They're keeping their prices unreasonably high due to brand recognition and not much else... Plenty of great competitors out there.

Having thousands of Euros worth of gear means nothing unless you really know how to use it well.
Software is so good now that a mix done with virtual tools in the hands of someone with a high level of knowledge and experience of mixing and mastering will beat someone less knowledgeable and experienced with expensive gear.

Your video title does not fit the content. That annoying tbh. there no "perfect reverb" they all use anyway. and btw, sitze and attack are much more important than pre delay in this case and can dramatically change the impression of the position. and also, reverb must work in the whole context of a mix. this video shows nothing but "hey i opened valhalla vintage verb and look how it sounds!!!".
who is your audience? like amateurs who started mixing yesterday? if so, ok, nothing wrong with that. but the description of your videos portrait to me that you are actually giving away value, which is not the case. it's just basic info that even chat gpt whould give anywone because it is so basic.
