I've heard you say there's a ton of stuff you can play in standard right now but that doesn't change the fact that all you run into is aggro, discard and reanimate. I'm not sure if I'm complaining though, I keep launching the damn client but it's def not the most varied I've seen the format over the past few years, at least in plat hell. Not sure if I'd say it's worse than no rotation at all but I hope to see some more mid-range and control tools over the next few sets.
I have to disagree. I've played against a LOT of different stuff lately: golgari midrange, discard, domain control, azorius djinn variants, door decks, reanimator, caretaker's talent decks, similacrum artifact stuff, and a variety of aggro decks. And that's not even everything. Maybe it's just disproportionate for you or something, but I'm definitely seeing a variety of stuff. Several mono black variants and midrange-y caretaker's talent stuff being the most common lately. I've seen more black variants than I have mono red actually.
About roping at the start: it's not uncommon for me for the client to time out at the start of a match and need to be relaunched. Doubt that's the answer as to all of them (the renanimator deck, for instance, seemed to be doing a lot of thinking all the time) but it might explain why you see it so often.
That's a real possibility. Could be a technical issue. Especially if folks are playing on mobile and have a skip in their connection speed for some reason.

I am glad you and other creators are popularizing these style decks. My mono blue Eluge deck performs really well against these!
