It's called the Spadena House - The house was designed by Hollywood art director Harry Oliver - It was originally built in 1921 to serve as the offices and dressing rooms for Irvin Willat's film studio in Culver City, and was moved to its present location in 1934. - The residence still appears to this day in movies, including 1995's Clueless.
These two need their own sitcom!
The house was built for Willat Studios back in 1920 as a set for a few silent films, including Hansel and Gretel, and a studio office. It was not built to be lived in.

You are right about it first being a studio office... BUT, it was moved, and converted into a house that was and still is lived in. It is a Storybook Architecture design. Storybook houses were popular at one time, but the fad didn't last long, and sadly most of them were lost. This is one of the few remaining examples of Storybook Architecture. It is known as the Spadena House.

JFYI. The term 'witch' dates back to Roman Briton and is derived from the Celtic 'Wica' which meant 'wise person'.

The Witches Weighhouse
Much of Oudewater’s city centre is listed in the Register of Monuments. The 16th century Witches Weighhouse, located in the centre of this historic place, now serves as a museum. Here, visitors can see an audiovisual presentation and exhibition about witch hunting, and be weighed themselves, on the original scales dating from 1482.
For almost one hundred years, visitors from all over the world, have been visiting the Witches Weighhouse in Oudewater. They take their place on the large scales and, as in the past, receive their personal certificate. In this building, already in the 16th century, this weighing took place. Then it was a matter of life or death for those accused of witchcraft: many men and women ended up on the pyre. The City of Oudewater was the only one in Europe that received the privilege for a fair weighing process, granted by Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. Consequently, nobody here was ever convicted of being a witch.
In the Museum compelling audiovisual displays, an exhibition and of course the original scales, tell the story of the witch persecutions, and the role played by the Weighhouse. For children it is a museum where they can play as well as learn.

My wife was born and grow up in that place about 30 meters from that Weighhouse. She died in 2014 and we throw here ashes in the little river behind the garden of the house where she has lived. It was here wish.

Hello Carpetbagger! Yes there are male witches and they are called warlocks. Probably most of the people living around that neighborhood are privately pretty eccentric themselves and don't really mind having a witch house in the neighborhood. As far as American history & witchcraft goes, we do have Native American shamans & medicine people, they’re technically a type of witch. Lastly male witches don’t like to be called “warlock” & a husband of a witch is just a husband.

This is a cool house. Loved the pics of the inside from the post of the article. Thank you to the person who posted it. The owl ball hanging from the tree by the Koi Pond keeps the birds from eating the koi. It does look weird but serves a purpose, koi fish can run from $100 to $600 each.

I just finish watching a video on this house, it was premiered on HGTV, believe it or not as of 2012 a man owns the house a real estate agent, just search the Beverly Hills Witch's House and you will definitely find the video, and something for AdamTheWoo, the house used to be a movie set, before the owner purchased at around 2000-2002 the homes interiors were nothing like the exterior and everything is pretty much new just made to look old.
