I never blow dry my hair like that, I'd have no hair left. I use the tension method. I hold my hair straight an move a nozzle blow dryer up and down until my hair is almost dry and then I go in with a brush which glides through.
that’s the best way to avoid any breakage👏🏽👏🏽
@@CoilyDiaries Looks like we have similar type hair, I wish I could show you my routine.
Blow dry in smaller sections and try the tension method so you aren’t using the brush in your hair as much and cause breakage. While the hair is still warm twist it in chunky twist. I don’t know why but the twist makes the hair really smooth. Revhair though expensive is also great since it basically uses the tension method to stretch the hair.
great ideas thanks! Revair doesn’t ship to Australia 😫
yeah I do smaller sections as well....like twice a year. Lol!
Yes i use the revair on the cool setting but with the high tension.
You can try “loose” twist. I started doing this style and absolutely love it.
Great idea!! what’s the routine with loose twists?
Protective style is a life saver 🙌 wearing my hair out by using heat wasn't a solution to me as well. I have high porosity weak and fragile 4b type, the only time I have peace with my hair is on protective style ( braids) and less manipulation. Especially if you have a busy lifestyle
yeah, seems to be my case too
Girl, tangled roots and finger detangling is sometimes a beast! Lol The longer our hair gets, the more time spent. Bittersweet 😩❤
So true!
It could never be me. I'm going to be a comb person for life. I can't feel my strands between my finger because they are so ultra-fine!!
@@marleyhill34 I understand. Everyone's journey is different. We all must do what works best for our own hair. The top two things that has helped me achieve length retention - finger detangling and low manipulation The time spent has been worth it. I am grateful. Happy Hair Growing! :- )
I love your transparency! I agree, heat is not the answer for me either. I’m currently wearing chunky, loose twists. I keep them stretched at night by banding my hair with satin scrunches. And I moisturize them once, maybe twice a week. Since they’re chunky and loose, it takes very little time to do, which I’m thoroughly enjoying! 😅💕 Looking forward to seeing what’s next in your journey! 🥰
that’s nice! I miss my twisted lifestyle
I know green beauty has a great waist length hair regimen that you could try. She uses the concentrator nozzle on the blow dryer and then scoops and spreads her roots for sebum coverage, keeps hair in chunky twists, and washes monthly. Keeping your hair stretched with heat really helps with moisture and reducing single strand knots. Also try twisting with braid and loc gel. It helps to smooth the hair cuticle and keeps twists looking neat for longer.
@@dream704 great ideas thank you 🙏🏽
Thank you for being transparent. This is very helpful to encourage all of us who are very busy in our own lives and don’t always have a lot of time for our hair
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing. The struggle is real. ❤
It really is!
Im a 4c mama and wife and its not easy dealing with the tangles when the hair gets long especially in the roots. But i think that trying larger twist with braided roots on blow dried hair would be a great combo!
hi mama! great tips here
Oh sis. I feel you. I dont like that brush. Im abou the same length as you and i know its exhausting. The revair helped me A LOT. The care and maintenance of long 4c hair is not for the weak. No mame!!
Im in the process of investing in sister/microlocs. I wish i had thought about this decades ago.
Thanks for sharing!! locs are an option for me at some point but not now… excited for your loc journey though!
Try revair to remove the frustration of blow drying
they don’t ship to me 😫
Dang girl, where are you located?@@CoilyDiaries
@@mssumerloving Australia. They only ship to the US and CANADA
@@CoilyDiaries wow I had no idea. Okay then.
Love your transparency❤
I’m also at a point where I’m looking for simpler protective styles. I’m tired of spending hours installing and taking out a protective style
I tried blow drying using tension method on the same day I took out a protective style and it took me all day - managed to get 2 flat twists which looked so bomb and took such a short time to install and take down, which made it easy to take out shed hairs later on😊
Will try again and see since take down and installation should be short
I recall a few years back where wash day was 1-2 hours max vs now where it’s a whole day and I realised the culprit is elaborate styles that take long to install and take down, which I don’t want to do anymore so also experimenting with simpler protective styles. Hope to figure this out soon too
We’re in this journey together❤
PS: really enjoying the back to back videos💯
that’s a great strategy sis!! Let’s keep going!
I know what you are going through. The process & using the heat to straighten our hair...oh my gosh😳. I can see your frustration too. Yeah we want to change up & try other styles, but it takes a lot. Really any hair style(s) takes a lot... I still love my twists though & I also keep the same sections for a while when re-twisting, until I decide it's time for a whole new twist sections. I think it was in 2019 I started adding Passion/Spring Twists & that was all new for me. I try to stay away from parting my hair down the middle to avoid a permanent line. For me I have to write down how many sections I would have in each row starting from the back nap, then the sides, the top & front. I may end up with 50-62 strands. I'm glad I don't have to take this to someone who would be doing my hair...They probably say 'Oh no she didn't' 😆. Yes I do my own hair 😊, but it's fun. Now I'm entering the next stage of my hair journey... Trying to embrace it & hopefully a style that will work. Yes do try going back to your twists, maybe a little more hair in your twists, a different part sections to cover any permanent parts & just enjoy creating your styles ❤⚘!
@@orbitalurban thanks girl! Great tips shared here ❤️
@@CoilyDiaries You are very much welcome🤗! I enjoy watching your videos & learning some new things regarding products too. Thank you🌺
Suggestions:With your hair stretched and blown out you can connect braids going towards the back like a cornrow style. You can leave out 2 small sections up front to braid or twist up and wear it that way or as a braid/twist out to frame your face. You can use hair jewels or flowers or decorations hair pins to accentuate your hair. In the back you can braid the hair in one braid then make a bun then you can add a braided ponytail or a curly/coily ponytail or wrap it around your hair and make a larger bun or wear loose. You can probably braid the wigs you have and add to your hair in the back and style with a headband or scarf. Take down would be easier as well. You can also do the connect the braids with your natural textured hair.
Whatever you decide to do hope it works out for you.
Thanks for sharing.
🙏🏾💜💐😀
@@lnyawilliamsmoorell5061 so helpful! Thank you 🙏🏽
Yup I actually do this to my hair now. I flat twist my hair and add a kinky curly ponytail or clip ins. This allows me to look cute while protective styling with my own hair. I also flat twist the front of my hair and do smedium twists for the rest of my hair which allows the front to look neat while wearing twists.
Same I will do the front and have the back loose or in a hair piece or clip-ins or 2 or 3 French braids.
You should consider flat twisting all over or flat twisting the back and two strand twisting the front. Flat twisting will eliminate so much frizz. Stretch your natural hair with large twisting to stretch first if you don’t want to use heat. Just a thought!
that’s an idea
Very honest and relatable. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
I admire your transparency
❤️❤️❤️
Your transparency brings a fresh perspective to natural hair, we love it! 💛
I'm so glad!🥰🥰🥰
Try the tension method or a blow dryer with a comb end attachment. Also, as you will find out, you will probably need to rotate your methods heat, twists, bantu knots and african threading.
I rotate my styles also. I get mentally tired wearing one style all of the time and also my hair always develops issues from wearing one style 365 days a year. When I live in the tropics, I could wear one style but living in London, England the winter is very harsh on my hair so I have to cover it up and I don't always want to wear a headscarf all the time.
I was gonna suggest plaits/ box braids without adding extension hair, but you mentioned you don’t braid. Loose buns with satin scrunchies or a loose twisted bun or even chunky twists. I’m not a huge fan of heat either, not even blow drying.
Twists are definitely my preferred
I have run into the same issue. I have a Revair and no kids. Still it’s a no for me for now. I have moved on to trying mini twists. I don’t like the shrinking but I banded them and it helped a little. They reverted in length in about 3hrs. But I guess this is what I’ll have to do for now. Thanks for the transparency! I don’t feel so alone now. I have been looking up 4b 4c up dos here and on Pinterest to get ideas for quick elegant styles I can wear and retain length. Best wishes sis 🌸
@@fero5978 mini twists are nice!!! I miss mine…
You'll get there! Sometimes you just have to try stuff and find what you vibe with best.
I can't remember, have you ever tried the banding method to stretch your hair after washday before proceeding to restyle it?
mmmh no. similar to African threading though which I have done in the past
The answer is whatever you like, whatever’s convenient and styles that make you feel beautiful 😊 I add heat once a month with breaks in between using protective styles and my hair has flourished but you have to treat, nourish and be very gentle with your hair and not use heat that’s too high
Thanks for sharing!!
Hang in there Sis.
Thank you, I will
Hi Ms. Beautiful, Thanks for caring and sharing. Girlll, I felt your struggle. Being the "Hair Influencer" that you are, You must know that Revair Hair Dryer is the way to go. And then use that one on your roots only ❤
Revair doesn’t ship to Australia
I had this blow dryer and i also have the revair. The blow dryer i use now is the TYMO airhype. Its a dyson dupe. It is quick and gives me good results fast! And the comb attachment doesn’t pull out the hair. I am a blow dried natural but i agree not the best 4 length retention. 4 me its fastest way to maintain my hair without it being a tangled mess lol
Thanks for the tips! we are all out here doing our best, keep going!
I like your honesty with your hair and the struggles and what you learn. Refreshing
@@majoriebve5407 ❤️❤️❤️
Roller setting the hair under the hooded dryer might work. But you will have to use heat for precision trims because you will likely get "piano keys" if you trim on unstretched hair.
thanks for the tips
@@CoilyDiaries You're welcome. 🙂
I feel your frustration, and that brush never worked for me. I have not used heat more than 5 years but i too need some inspiration. Not sure locs is the answer although i like seeing the sisters with locs hairstyles.
@@sonyabarnes3398 I hear you…
Your hair is looking beautiful!! Totally understand your frustration with the brush. I like the results of it but it caused me a lot of breakage so I had to switch to the revair. Just sent you an email!❤
Thank you so much!!
Have you tried the Rev Air? It drastically reduced the time and effort of blowdrying my hair. It also stretches your hair as you go rather than having to mechanically stretch it.
it’s not shipped to Australia unfortunately
Your hair is beautiful❤ Stay away from products with protein. Protein although helpful, should be used scarcely and only when necessary. Protein tangles wooly hair, making it difficult to detangle.
When your hair is that long and that healthy, it's all about moisture, moisture, moisture. Moisturizing products during your shampoo and after your shampooing helps with detangling.
Also take smaller partings.
I hope this helps.
thanks for sharing 🙏🏽
Scalp health is just as important to me as length retention. Which is why I shampoo and condition weekly. I stretch my damp hair with air only (no heat) using my revair. I wear my twists most of the time adding a little argan oil mid week and untwist on Sunday to wear my hair out for church. My hair is past bra strap length, and this consistent routine works for me. I hope you find out what works for you, your hair, your scalp, and your busy life.
thanks for sharing gorgeous ❤️
I understand the blow drying. I injured my shoulder and it's hard blow drying my hair. I was able to get the Revair a few weeks ago. It helped a lot, I didn't have to move my arms as you do with a blow dryer. I love the fact that I wasn't using a lot of heat. I really need my ends trimmed, but I'm nowhere near a place that cuts natural black hair.🤷♀️
Revair is amazing! sorry about your injury though
So helpful to see this process. Sorry that your go to routine has to be revamp do to mother responsibilities, I remember those days. But, you sharing this video gives us a great visual on the challenges. Thank you.
Absolutely!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks for sharing you have beautiful strong hair 😇take care
Thank you so much 🤗
Hi! I have seen many sisters with longer hair put their hair in medium to small braids and wear it for a longer period of time while also being able to look nice and wash their hair! Maybe something to consider even if someone else does it for you but I believe it would be helpful for you!❤️
Thanks for sharing!! don’t really like braids on me but we’ll see
Im a mini braid queen my hair is also frizzy but it doesn’t really bother me
nice!!
Your hair is beautiful! Will you ever try a silk press? Only once?
heheh I don’t know
@@CoilyDiaries 🤔😄
I’m sorry you aren’t able to get the Revair because that thing was a life saver.
😫😫😫
Your hair looks so delicate ..look like you need k18 and olaplex
@@CharlotteMasonTT ok🤔. I won’t think about that now 😝
The revair dryer would be better
I know but they don’t ship to Australia 😨
Maintaining natural hair with heat or other means is a commitment anyway you slice it.❤❤
So true!
Glad to see you try heat! I personally recommend RevAir on your hair texture. I believe you will get better results that will last longer!❤ In my opinion you used the wrong tool to dry your hair. RevAir is not heat. I so wish the RevAir would gift you their dryer and I’m sure you’ll ❤ it. That dryer is quick and simple and results last!! It is expensive but well worth your coins!!
I have the revair. There is a heat option. And that 1 gives me the best results. I think it's lower heat than blow dryers though.
would love revair❤️
thanks! Revair only supplies to the US and Canada 😫
You have helped me so much❤that I would be more than happy to (if I can) mail to you a Revair hair dryer. Is that ok?
awww thanks so much! Revair has told me the dryer is not tested for the electrical regulations in AUSTRALIA and would be unsafe to use here 😫
I don't think it would work. I messed up one of my curling irons there because I forgot all about the voltage situation. 😕
I tried to go with the blow out as well it didn’t work I couldn’t figure out how to keep it moisturized without it reverting .. Although the blow out was easy to manage,I actual missed having moisturized twist ❤️❤️
@@Loveeveryone-uu1hk totally get it !
Have you tried african threading to stretch your hair?
@@bg-si2cw yes 😊
I’m thinking of getting the paddle brush blow dryer but still undecided about it. What do you think?
Is it easier to blow dry with the paddle brush blow dryer or the nozzle blow dryer? Please answer.
if length retention is a goal and also depending on how often you plan to use it, I would t recommend. easy use but the constant brushing takes a toll
@@CoilyDiaries I felt the pain of that extra brushing watching this video.
@@CoilyDiaries Thanks so much for the clarification.
I’m wondering if you can go to a stylist to have them do the washing and blow dry and you style at home. This is what I do and it makes the process a lot easier. I go once a month for wash blow dry and trim if needed and the. I style at home usual in jumbo twist or braids
cons of living in a small town… no stylists here for my hair
I know it might sound funny but i live in Europe and i have only been to regular hair dressers and because they are not used to deal with afro hair usually they are more careful when detangling and handling your hair. They look scared at the beginning but then they see it as challenge and deal with the hair gently. You will be surprised. Personally for me it is either regular hair dresser for straightening hair or i do the certain hairstyles myself.
@@Lauralala2233 here I was told “ we don’t do that kind of hair here”
@@CoilyDiaries My stylist in London is from New Zealand, has curly hair and is Tongan. Lol! How small is this town in Australia? No one there has curly hair?
So, I know rev-air doesn’t ship to you BUT do you have any family or friends in the states or UK who can receive the shipment then ship it to you? I’m invested. 😂
I have emailed Revair directly. it is not safe to operate the equipment here
It is not in the UK anymore either 😭
I would love to ship you a Revair❤ Is that ok?
Awww so nice of you! REVAIR have told me it is unsafe to use it here 😫
Why don't you try twists with extensions? You can use different colors and length. It's much quicker to do and undo than box braids/no knots braids and since you're wearing extensions they don't friz and you keep it longer. When youbremove it you have a twist out for a week.I am wearing reddish twists in my picture here.
Still me. Here I'm typing from my English RUclips channel where you can see me with different twists hairstyles/different colors and length by just looking at the thumbnails (8months+ ago...). Hope my suggestion helps.
this is a good idea! thanks
appreciate it! Will have a look sis !
Thank you for sharing l was about to buy a blow dryer, why don't you find a professional who can do twists or braids with your own hair because they will be able to do neat lines to make the style wearable and then you can wash the hair in that protective style and redo the twists or braids yourself, that's something l am thinking of doing myself.
I don't know for you but I find that washing hair in twists will turn the take down into a disaster. Because it will cause so much friz that the hair will get matted as it dries. When I do twists with my natural I can't wash them. I can do that with braids but not twists.
unfortunately there are no professionals where I live 😏
@@CoilyDiaries okay👍🙏
@@HereDiianasI made the mistake of washing my hair in mini twists and it was hell during take down time. I do not recommend this.
