I received mine a couple of days ago and completely agree with your review. I also bought the glide lock style clasp. It was only $15 and it works good enough. It is fairly wide but I would say definitely worth spending the extra $15. I have the VH31 movement in another watch and it is a very accurate movement. In the first 2 days of owning the WD1969 it is running perfectly. I have not lost or gained not even a second. I am really happy with it.
Ordered 31 December delivered today 3rd Jan removed 3 links and fits my 7” wrist perfectly without micro adjustments. I don’t find the underside of the case to be sharp and the quick release bars don’t scratch my wrist but my wrist is smaller than yours. Excellent review and good to have you back. I’ve owned a few watchdives pieces and moved them on …this one could be a keeper.
Watchdives are on fire at the moment! I own a Tudor BB58 as well as several Watchdives pieces including their BB54 and I’m blown away. When I’m wearing the BB54 my mind believes that I’m wearing the Tudor, it’s bizarre 😂.
Outstanding review as usual. Very nice watch for the money. I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. BTW, Your reviews are extremely detailed, objective, and very thorough. Im an engineer and find your style to be excellent. Really enjoy your work. Thank you very much.
Very nice but I will be sticking with my Watch Dives BB54 as the case is slightly smaller, a great benefit to those like me who are cursed with a scrawny wrist. The BB54 is also available with gorgeous gilt indices, hands, minute track and bezel markings. I think Watch Dives are the best of the cheaper homage makers at the moment. I have 3 of their VH31 watches and think they are as perfect as any watch can be. Mine were bought before they updated the shield logo and I appear to be in the minority by preferring it to the new psi/trident which IMHO is slightly too wide. If Watch Dives continue to produce watches as good as these then I will need (yet) another watchbox...
Superb review really detailed....Very nice piece and affordable...Love there new Trident shield much better...Producing some great pieces are watchdives...
Appreciate the review. Would love to hear your thoughts on the WD1860, or the upcoming WD1863 Speedmaster homages. WD1863 should be out next month they say
This is a really good and comfortable watch. I love the movement and the fact that it makes the watch very thin. Unfortunately, after a month of use, the white color of the lume pip changed and became brownish. It's quite noticeable and disturbing sometimes when I look at it.
This watch looks really nice. How long, would You say, does the lume last? Seriously thinking about this one. The VH31 in my Steeflier is -0.06s/day. It performs much better then I have hoped for. These quartz movements make much more sense, instead of basic, 6Hz automatic movements in cheap watches.
"How long, would You say, does the lume last?" It depends on how much it is charged by sunlight. In the lume test I am charging it to its absolute maxiumum using a 100 UV LED torch. Therefore it isn't possible for me to state a specific length of time, such as glows for 1 hour etc. Regards, #WR4K
It is the WD1969 Pro. I just got this exact same watch two weeks ago. I think he just got the numbers transposed. This review is of the Watchdives WD1969 Pro. I absolutely love mine. Great great in depth review of this piece, as always. Luckily, the few negatives that were mentioned aren’t anything that bother me personally with my watch, but it’s good that he brings these things up to those who might find them as deal breakers. To me the watch has waaaaaaaaay more positives than negatives, and it’s well worth the low price for this really great watch. Thanks again for this fantastic review!
WD1969 Pro. Apologies for the error. See link below. Regards, #WR4K watchdives.com/products/watchdives-wd1969-pro-39mm-vh31-dive-watch?variant=45911691788506
These are tremendous value! I don’t think you can find another homage with the same high quality fit and finish for the money. My two favorite aspects are the coin edge bezel which has a great grippy feel, and the lume, which appears torch-bright at any hour of the night. I bought the black first, but could not resist getting the blue after I experienced the quality. At this price, I am wearing them as my beater watch, but feel guilty doing so.
Watchdives do it the right way. They keep the watches really cheap with great specs in the most important part- the head of the watch itself. I'm perfectly fine with the sub par bracelets considering most people change out and play around with straps, this model would look great on a sailcloth. Also I've broken some screw pins sometimes but I've never broken a pin bracelet. Even Vasheron Konstanten and Patek use push pins on some models and it's not by accident. Great review as always sir
"Also I've broken some screw pins sometimes but I've never broken a pin bracelet." See tips in my Watchdives Glidelock style clasp review below. Often the cause of broken, stripped, or chewed, screw pins is the collector doesn't use a blowtorch to melt the threadlocker prior to unscrewing the screw pin. "Even Vasheron Konstanten and Patek use push pins on some models and it's not by accident." Vacheron Constantin, and Patek Phillppe pieces are high-tier; therefore the tolerances of the push pins and bracelet links are extremely high quality. The push pins used in low-tier, and mid-tier pieces aren't comparable in quality. It's a given that push pins are going to be excellent on a high-tier piece; but that doesn't mean push pins are always a better alternative to screw pins; hence why both are used on high-tier pieces. The other factor is there are different types of push pins used in bracelets; split pins, or pins and collars. Pins and collars are as reliable as screw pins. Split pins are lower quality and therefore not as reliable. Regards, #WR4K ruclips.net/video/h4oSYSHbzCU/видео.html
With its steel case and bracelet, this Watchdives WD1969 isn’t much of an homage to the all-titanium Pelagos 39. What’s the weight of the Watchdives? How about the Pelagos ?
This piece is 39mm, same as the Pelagos 39. The Pelagos is 42mm; therefore it is a homage to the former rather than the latter. 134 grams. Regards, #WR4K
WR4K, visually, the case appears as flat as the Steinhart 39 Ocean Marine Black case which you were ultimately not the most pleased with? (that said, I realize that this is a fifth of the price)
They shouldn't print "Diver's" on any watch that isn't ISO 6425 compliant. No serious watch brand should because it creates a serious safety issue and devalues their brand. It's a nice dive style watch, there's no need to lie to consumers about a certification that only a small proportion of buyers would care about anyway.
@@headshotteapot1067there is currently a supply shortage of VH31 movements so Watchdives are planning on using the Miyota 9015 as an alternative if the shortage continues. This would make watches thinner than using the NH35A. Regards, #WR4K
Quartz is not a bad idea. I have at least 13 NH movement watches. Yes they all work great now but eventually they will need maintenance, and it will be cheaper to buy another movement, but you have to pay the watch repair person for their services. But a quartz needs a battery that costs maybe a fiver or ten bucks max, that you can replace yourself in minutes. What sold me was the quartz movement not having to spend a ritual of winding every watch daily and weekly synchronizing their timing. priceless.

This is by far the best review if this piece in my opinion. Detailed but to the point. Very well executed.

The old logo was nice as well. But they liked to write diving nonsense on watches that had nothing to do with diving.
Very good and objective review. It is astounding how the quality of Chinese watches has been going up in recent years.

I have to admit - this one ticks an awful lot of boxes, not only "for the price" but generally speaking.

The very best reason for buying both 🤣
