  • You do not have to remove the intake manifold to replace the oil sender on a Chrysler / Dodge 3.6 engine. This is how I did it. Super easy !!

Great video! Did it myself and saved me like $800. It took a little longer then I wanted but worked out in the end. Much better then going through my intake. Thanks for your help.

Thank you bro, appreciate the effort and sharing the video,I’m gonna start doing the same thing,I have a 2017 Durango and there’s almost nothing on RUclips for this truck/year,so every time I come across a problem I’ll try to do a little video on how to fix it or the LOCATION of the part to be replaced within the car, because a lot of times the fix is easy BUT you don’t know where the part is located!!!!

Necro but just wanted to say thank you. This saved my gf a bunch of money and me a lot of time. Really appreciate the tips because I did not want to deal w/ taking that intake off. Only edit would be to get the stupid socket for the oil pressure sensor as others have mentioned.

Doing this job as we speak and it literally took me 10mins to remove all that stuff with power tools. Easy job.

Success! Job done following your method. Took me a little longer, had to stop and go buy the special socket. Tried to use my 1-1/16 impact socket but a cooling hose that connects to rear of oil cooler directly next to the sensor leaves very little space to slip the socket onto the sensor. The specific socket for this job has a thinner wall and made it possible, still with some effort. BTW, the short socket version was too short for the sensor to fit inside fully. Bought the long version. Oh, and no oil exited the threaded hole for the sensor when removed. Having previously removed the upper intake plenum on this car to access drivers side coils and plugs I can say your method is easier, less complicated, faster and cheaper (no gasket costs). It's still hard but can be done, just like you said. My advice to anyone removing intake for any other reason is to replace this sensor while you're in that deep unless you already have the redesigned 'AB' version of the sensor. All indications are that the original 'A' version is going to fail. Got my Mopar replacement for $30 with some looking. Thanks again!

Have had a CEL on for some time now. Found out the Code set (PO6D??) is for the Oil Pressure Control Circuit Stuck On. Looks like I'll be doing this same replacement. Thanks for this!

This procedure is very difficult but not impossible. It took me 6 hours but I saved $600.00 that the agency wanted to charge me. Thanks for your recomendation. 2014 Dodge Charger SXT Plus.👍

Thank you! Got it replaced! Took me probably 5 times as long as someone who knows what they are doing but if I can do it with no engine mechanic than anyone and I mean anyone can do this. FU mechanics, tried to charge me $600!

What size socket do you need to remove the sensor? I read on another vid you have to order some special sensor socket to get it out
