Thanks! Comfort is my go-to at home
Nice safety foot ware
You got me there!
Those are athletic sandals I approve only because im guilty of the same break in protocal
Awesome technique, so simple thanks!
Thanks Herb!
Many thanks. Worked perfectly.
Thanks James! Glad I could help.
Quick, easy and understandable thank you. A lot of other videos make a meal of it
Appreciate the feedback. That’s what I was aiming for!
Thanks you made me believe I can do this - gonna give it a try next week
No problem Vic. Please let me know how it goes!
Nicely done!
Hope it was helpful!
Nice video. Thank you and keep them coming
Thanks for the feedback I’ll try my best!
Thank you so much! At last, a video that does not encourage purchase of Yet Another Gadget! Great hints for this beginning wood worker!
Thanks! I’m all about doing what you can with the tools you already have
Awesome video brother thank you
Thank you! Happy building
Awesome tip thank you. I am planning to use lap joints in my project. This info is what I need.
Glad it was able to set you on the right path! What project are you getting into?
@@508homes I am going to build a 4x8 wood shed out of the deadfall in the forest behind my house (tons and tons of it out there). Commercial lumber too expensive right now (!!) so I am going to cut lap joints into the round wood deadfall that I harvest to facilitate the joints between the pieces of wood.
Great info....thanks Sir.
Thanks FOH!
Enjoyed, about to build a 4 post bed frame using 4x4 and figured this would be the technique I'll use instead of lag bolts ruining end grain or brackets being unsightly and potentially dangerious if someone scrapes against one.
I do have a job site table saw but working with 7' long pieces looks like the skill saw will still be the way to go for any of the middle area cut aways. Maybe the end cuts I can do on the table saw.
Great idea! That will be a sturdy and clean looking piece of furniture. Working with such a long piece of material definitely lends itself to using this method over the table saw.
Thanks for the feedback!
many thanks
Glad I could help!
Nice work
Thanks for watching!
Nice result!!
Thanks Antonio!
🤝👏👏👏👏👏
hi...I made a watching your video. Thank you for being an inspiration to me.
Thanks for the kind words. Happy building!
Thanks bud! Fix it flip sent me
Glad you liked the video!
Thanks for doing this video and explaining it clearly and concisely.
No problem! I’m glad it’s helping people out.
When I was a carpenter the circular saw was your best friend.
Agreed Daniel! How long were you a carpenter for?
@@508homes I was a carpenter for 3 years in South Carolina. We didn't get paid alot but they taught me the proper way of building homes. You started out as a helper then they gradually trained you as you progress learning the ropes
@@508homes You were taught basic framing. Then they taught how to sheath a roof and laying out for shingles and later I was taught to do base boards in the interior. I learned alot about the process and acquired skill
Nice video, thanks! What about when you need the joint at the very end of the 4 x 4? Can it sill be cut out the same way? I was thinking about renting or buying a miter saw to do this. I'm guessing that make it much easier, but would prefer not to have to buy another bulky tool.
Yes, you can cut it the same way on the end of the board. Just take your chisel and tap a clean line on the end of the board so it doesn’t split thru. A table saw can do this job much easier than a miter saw, but a circular saw is the cheapest option and takes up the least amount of space for storage which is why I made this video! Hope this helps.
Miter saw actually can’t even do this. You would need a specific kind, a pulling miter saw.
I just moved and need a dining room table. Do you have the plans for this build?
Hey Michael! If you subscribe to my channel you can find a video of me building the table! I also have a different farmhouse style table (with a bench) DIY video which will be added to my channel within days.
What chisel is the best for this project? Thanks
Any wood chisel will work as long as it is sharp. I used a 1.5” chisel for this video.
Hell yeah!🙊
Agreed!
Awesome, no intro, no music , no yada yada.
Straight to the point to help people out fast!
☺🙏🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🤝
Which is the better tool for this task? Circular saw or router?
I would recommend the circular saw because it’s easier to adjust your tool for the exact depth of your cuts.
Thumbs up for safety sandals
Comfort when I work at home!
Excellent video! Great technique. Except you should really use a MALLET not a hammer on your chisel. I've split at least 3 chisel handles using a hammer 😱😱
Thanks for the tip! Were you working with a hard wood when you did that?
@@508homes No - cutting a mortice. Too lazy to get the mallet out 😨😨😨
@@sussexseaangler1858 gotcha. I’ll be using a mallet from now on!
Always, always, always wear socks!
Then your a professional, this is for hobbyists. I also appreciate sandals security shoes. This is how you do it!
why not use wood router?
The video is instructional for beginner wood workers. Would you agree that more people have a circular saw than have a router?
@@508homes I am a DIY person, I have no table saw. I have bought these in order large hand saw, jig saw, router, circular saw. I do not have space for table saw. I think table saw is far too dangerous to be owned.
🙏🤝🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Thank you YouTukang!
What kind of weekend warrior wears toeless shoes to work
👍This one👍
safey first.
I’ll remember next time!
I don't think anyone would use a table saw for this cut to begin with
Thanks for the feedback Steve!
A half lap is the simplest of basic joints. Why all the messing around with power tools? When a hand saw would take half the time.
Thanks for your feedback Kelvin!
never knew of a hand saw that out paced a power one...but hey... it's 2022
While you wear Nike flip flops LOL
I call it “comfortable craftsmanship!”
👏👏👏👏👏👏☕
They're sliders not flip flops. Flip flops go between the toes
