  • Yes track days are fun! With that fun comes a little extra maintenance so today we are going back to Pristine Parts in Fremont California to pick up my brake rotor upgrade and some new track brake pads. I've also got a brief overview of some sick Alcantara interior mods for the FK8 Type R work done by Sweidit in Southern California.

    E85 upgrade nice. Need a 17 min video of you doing pulls with ethanol. My fav video of yours is when you did pulls with the ktuner, gives a great sense of speed from a viewer standpoint which is difficult to pull off. That's why it's my favorite and I revisit it often!

      CRV_Stormtrooper video coming. It's turned into quite the project getting a proper video together. It will be worth the wait info wise. Thank you for the support!

    18in rims look good on the R, everyone is putting them on, but everyone is also throwing off their suspension when lowering down to that size rim especially when taking it to the track. Makes me think if that’s part of the reason Why FlyingGato totaled his. But I’m no expert, it’s just a thought. Awesome video and really like those brake upgrades.

      @GridZilla  5 лет назад +1

      Antonio Aguilar thank you! And I hear what you are saying about messing with the suspension. I had the same thought before lowering my car but Swift really does their homework before making springs for a car AND almost every track guy are running these springs including people who are on actual race teams so they work. Reason why flyingato crashed is because he was on a bumpy part of the track and came into the corner a little too hot.

    Sweet build. Thanks for the vid. Strut bars next? I just installed mine.. Looks good lol. Right now my type r is a weekend car... Looking to track it in. The future. Take care.

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  5 лет назад +2

      I really like the balance of the vehicle right now. Going with a front strut tower brace will encourage more understeer which is not what I would want. Adding a rear strut bar would throw the balance off without also changing out the struts imo which I'm definitely not ready to do at this point.

    Lovely car dude but you need to swap your discs left to right. They have directional cooling vanes and they are the wrong way round like that. This will hamper the disc cooling quite significantly!

    Down shifting helps save breaks, wounded if the ref match feature on the Type R is making people use the brakes more.

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  5 лет назад +1

      The rev match system in the CTR works great and yes while I agree that down shifting does help slow the car down, in a track environment the main reason for the down shift and rev matching is to keep the car within the best part of the power band AND NOT to disrupt the balance mid turn during a downshift. In other words, saving your brakes by downshifting is a fringe benefit rather than the reason why you do it.

      I'd rather spend money on brake pads rather than clutch and transmission parts.

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  5 лет назад

      jaidee1 both can be great upgrades depending on what you need. The sick clutch is holding up fine and the car already had an lsd so no need for tranny upgrades

      corone2018 there are lighter discs out there but they won't last long at all. If you are trying to save weight do it with your wheel set up.

    • @corone2018
      @corone2018 5 лет назад +1

      True , what wheel set up you recomend for maximum unsprung weight and at the same time help me with better handling ??

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  5 лет назад

      @@corone2018 Hard to do better than what I'm currently running. Volk TE37 Saga Time Attacks 18X9.5 its basically an 18lbs wheel. You can do slightly better with the CE28's. Those will come in at 17lbs. Titan 7 wheels are a great alternative coming in at around 19lbs but 30% less expensive than the Volks
