I have Rigid Collars on my 8th gen Si (I track the car), best mod I have done for the money. After you get the car aligned, I felt that it made the handling sharper than it originally was. Truly night and day. Great video Jason!

I have Rigid Collar on my 2011 WRX STI, 2011 Golf MK6 TSI and 2011 Mazda CX-7, and to me they are a must for any car. Not many people know that subframe can shift over time (Ok, the Golf MK6 people is well aware of this), and many don't even know there is actually a subframe alignment hole on cars to align it. Having the Rigid Collar ensures the car's subframe is dead center which will benefit wheel alignment. And it does have a rigidity effect which somehow makes the car rides better.
it makes total sense, almost like when i had the entire suspension changed to urethane on my evo. it got noisier but it was much sharper. track use was even better and tighter.
Steeda makes something similar for the s550 Mustang, called IRS alignment inserts, which i just installed, and also noticed a big difference. Love the Phoenix yellow TypeR Jason. The functional bumper vents you had done are fricking awesome. Big #thumbsUP to you sir :-)
I think the collars provide better/more accurate positioning of the braces to the main chassis rather than making the structure more rigid. The step of the collars basically fill up the gap thus eliminates misalignment of the outer hole and threaded hole.
You had your car at my local Honda dealer ship here on Niagara Falls Ontario. I recently just ordered mine from there. Wish I would have known you were here I'm Niagara
VW community refers to this as a dead set kit. I put it on my Golf R and like what it does for the car plus alignment is much easier now. You should definitely check/set your alignment after doing this because it will shift the suspension.
The grease isn't just anti-seize, but should also be dielectric to prevent corrosion caused by the the contact between the aluminum and steel. What none of these installation videos show that the amateur doing this at home will run into is that there is much to do before you get access to all of this. There's the removal of the crap-metal bottom cover, then there's the 20 or so clips and a few small bolts to remove the much larger plastic cover that covers almost the entire front underside of the car. 6 of these clips are way up in the wheel well, so if you are on jack stands or on something like a quick-jack lift like I am, you're going to need to remove the wheels to access them comfortably. My question for you is did you put all of that back on after you did the collars and stiff brace, or do you leave the underside naked?
Definitely going to have to make that purchase my 19 CTR should be at my house in a few days they are waiting on some decent all season tires to come in, saving the summer tires and probably my butt from sliding off the road. With the spoon exaust did you remove the two resonators?
If the holes in the sub frame where precise and didnt allow for a couple mm of movement in all directions and the car was in any kind of accident how do you suppose you would get those bolts in?
Yes, I felt the difference immediately. No its not cheap, Spoon Sports USA and all other Spoon Sports distributors around the world have pricing. thanks for watching;-)
Would be nice to get some more carbon fiber parts such as mirror caps. I really suggest getting BlackVue front and rear dash cam for protection in proof incase something ever happens.
@@mkz24 Hi, I m new to mod on CTR. I am planning to purchase the ridge collars and stiff plate for my CTR. May i ask where is a good place to do alignment after the ridge collars and plate installation? Any car shops like pep boys or Winston Tires? Or you have a trusted place to take your car to? Thank you.
When you say the car felt more solid? Do you mean the ride has become stiffer? I’m thinking about getting the collars put on my fk2 but want to know if it will make the ride worse?
I’m thinking of installing rigid collars on my daily, but I’m worried that it’ll add more maintenance since you’re supposed to periodically check the subframe bolts. Is it worth it?
STI555 Yes, it stops the ‘shifting’ that happens which is part of the reason you were told to check the subframe bolts for tightness. It should lessen your maintenance
It’s says Ri-ji ka-ra which is about as close as Japanese pronunciation is going to het. It’s written in Katakana which are the characters used for non-Japanese words, basically sounded out by syllable to as close as possible. My name (Robert) for instance is Ro-Ba-to). 😉
I think the rigid collars are bull. The bolts locations are very rigid as is and when you tighten the bolts down the frame is not gonna move because the clamping force is far to strong. Ive removed those bolts on many accident cars how come the frame has bent and moved everywhere except the mounting locations? The collars certainly wont make the structure less rigid but to rant and rave about feeling a huge difference is more than likely the alignment you got after the repair. Maybe you have a bit of toe out giving you that very shark steering response. The weak link is more likely the threaded locations on the chassis.
I don't doubt at all that the car drove better. OTOH, witnessing the poor factory tolerances, a lack of effective cross bracing from the manufacturer, suspension components stamped from steel makes me see this car very differently. I'd considered buying one. Not so sure now.

Are the fd2 ones the same for an fa5?
Diego Eleazar It just stabalizes the subframe
Love seeing companies like spoon care about the little details like using anti-seize! I'm the exact same way putting anti-seize on everything lol
I agree
What's anti-seize...is that something like anti theft?

for sure
I currently running a fd2 set on my fb6 si and I love it.

Make more videos like that, that's very cool !
Great job and now i'm in the know !!!
I also put the Spoon Rigid collars but in my cb3. Both front and rear definitely felt a difference over bumps and in shifting.

You should make a video doing a whole look over your type R its so mint. And included future thing your thinking about

use 2set or 1set spoon rigid collar?

Is it recommended to get an alignment after installation?
I did alignment after installing mine. Best mod ever. Really recommend to everyone
I'd say yes. As the Spoon rep mentioned inthe vid shifting the subframe is one way to adjust the alignment.

Will the FK8 collars fit the FC1???
The good ole days when hondas were double wishbone front and rear.
I'm curious, will these spoon sports rigid collars fit on a non-type r honda civic, 2017 touring sedan?
no extra noise vibration or droning?
Since you're stacking two of these (in a way) "washers", isn't the bolt now going to catch at least 4mm less threads in the floor panel?

I wonder if the rigid collar also works for the civic si?

Your answer is on the Spoon Sports web site.
Jason, would you need to have 4 wheel alignment done after these kits were fitted? if it was mine i'd have it checked.

@@vasilist1742 lol what? A stiff chassis allows the driver to handle more speed. Speed always matters in racing sports.
Any downside to running these? Why wouldn't Honda have something like these from the factory? Are these a waste on a car that'll never see the track?
Any chassis tightening gives some increased degree of vibration feedback. I wouldn't expect much from this but not sure..don't own one.
