The auto replaced the horse. Between 1915 and 2006 the horse and mule population declined 63%. No need for horses. If we're the new horses then what happens? The US has 400,000,000 people and no need for 63% of the population. That means the disposal of 252,000,000 people or at the very best being dictated to how many children can be born. No doubt economics will drastically reduce human population.
It’s been that way for a while now. it’s not to mention almost everybody you communicate with in the comments of RUclips have been AI for the past 5 years at the least 😅
What people don't realize is robots will be networked together. When one robot learns something new, every other robot will automatically learn that task. So the more robots there are the quicker they will learn because they're all connected
Androids and AI arent even the craziest thing. Like quantum computing, Fusion Reactors, Nanotechnology, Replicators, Gen Therapy are all on a different level.

your right and these are machines built to purposed. which is what most automation is and will wind up being, why build a complex and un-demonstrated humanoid robot when you can build purpose built machines. right now there isnt a single "humanoid" robot actually doing labor, let alone autonomously.. we see lots of demonstrations which in most cases are impressive, but nothing beyond that yet. personally i think the "tech" mostly in terms of ai has alot more kinks to work out before it starting taking jobs where you cant build a machine for it..

@@Andrea-LovesYouStill yes but capitalism needs customers. If there's no workforce, there's no pay. No pay means no customers. Result, capitalism dies. So either all production will become state owned and productivity will be spread throughout the population via the government. Communism wins! ...or, the tech corporations get taxed humongously and the, now unemployed, population is paid a ubi from the state. Socialism wins. Either way, capitalism will lose all meaning. This may be OK as productivity will hockeystick, so we can all live like kings in a world of exponentially escalating resources. In such an unlimited world who needs markets to allocate limited resources? Who'd have thought socialism would win out in the end?
@Andrea-LovesYouStill There is a certain gullibilty of the general public and "AI" (it's machine learning). Something different is needed than transformer networks to take over. Problem with this video is u assume that the cost in labor reduction savings will be passed down to the consumer and bot just given to company ceos as bonuses.
I think that the cost savings will have to get passed down - but that doesn't mean CEOs won't still profit insanely. Remember: reduced production costs and higher consistent quality means there will be lots more competition - thus driving prices down due to easy, cheap market availability of most products. Once a stable base price settles, it'll then be a game of brand recognition and loyalty. It's the CEOs of the most frequented brands that will become the wealthiest.
What consumers? Who will be able to buy anything if they don't have jobs? We need leadership that can see the future and adapt to it. A cult of technology denying luddites is rapidly gaining power. Pandora is out of her box, and is not going back.

I'm not entirely sure when we will solve FSD. But, what I am certain is we will solve robotics assisting humans in a large quanity sooner than most of us are expecting.
Tesla is launching robotaxis in August 2024. they will be restrained by electricity supply so will be limited In use at the outset. but Tesla, at least, is increasing the supply of battery storage And charging stations really quickly and robotaxis will replace anything between 50 and 90% of private cars so perhaps the demand for electricity infrastructure will be less.
@@robertmason9265 Robotaxis will not happen in our lifetime. FSD is just another Elon Musk over promise and under deliver grift. To truly have FSD that is actually safe and viable the entire infrastructure of our roads, highways and streets etc will need to be totally revamped.
@@robertmason9265 it might after a while be more economical to just not even own a car and just only call up a robotaxi if the price of it comes down enough. Also if it's using AI well then and will offer slightly lower fares if you're willing to share rides with other people in which case that probably will be the case, well then it'll be far less butt plug traffic out there and it's going to be a lot easier to get around and then plus you know when you factor in the cost of buying a car leasing a car and buying insurance and of course paying for the energy whether gasoline or electricity, well then if it's reasonably priced to get a robotaxi anytime you want, a lot of people will just simply be glad to have the extra income by not having to service all those other expenses having to do with owning an automobile. One of the best things about it is that maybe at least half of the idiots out there on the road will no longer be driving.

"Its time to rethink humanity" Truer words have never been spoken! I for one am looking forward to what society is going to look like and become as soon as the labor force gets fully automated; I actually WANT to see the day when the concept of work is no longer something we need to do for our own survival and be seen as more of something that we could feel like doing if we ever get bored!! It means that with over multiple millennia of hard labor, spearheaded by our ancestors, we have finally done it, we will have finally soon reached a point of abundance where the only thing we have to worry about is maintaining our own happiness, doing everything we've always wanted, stress free: Spending more time with our loved ones, exploring favorite hobbies/ discovering new ones, traveling the world, socializing better, etc!! So long as our leaders implement some kind of "Universal basic income", a set and fixed amount of cash allowance that each and every single person would receive once a month thats just enough to cover food, transportation, and other basic necessities, i cant imagine how life wouldn't get better; and if a person wanted to extend some extra cash flow to themselves, then they can choose to work for it.
One major correction: Most of these robots disrupting current industries won't be "humanoid". Robots will be far, FAR more efficient if they are designed for a specific range of tasks. They will need to be MANY different shapes and sizes. Some will be flat like Roombas. Some will be insectoid or spiderlike. Some will be "dog"-shaped, like the ones from Boston Dynamics. Some will be simple boxes with wheels and a bunch of arms on top. Some will mimic other animals like dolphins or snakes or turtles. Many will just be aerial drones with various attachments to change their function as needed. Relatively FEW will be "humanoid". There are only 3 actual reasons to make a human-shaped robot: 1. To deceive people into thinking they are human. 2. To "replace" a loved one who is dead. 3. Sex. For literally ANY other task, there are LIMITLESSS other shapes and sizes that are FAR more efficient to use than "humanoid".
Humanoid robots for physical labor, definitely. But for office work? No way, AI will integrate directly, there will be no need for conventional offices. The office work will be outsourced to companies that specialize in it. The likes of SAP services fully integrated. Towering office buildings will be replaced by far more compact server farms. Cities will literally be reshaped.
A robot workforce will inevitably render the system of trade and money redundant. This is a game changer, as it inherently eliminates poverty, crime, wars, and other undesirable issues from the outdated "trading and money" world.
Exactly, it's called UBI + social credit score. It doesn't take 'thousands of hours of research by a world leading team of thinkers' to come to this understanding either.
@@dman8776 That conclus9ion is complete nonsense. It simply is NOT going to happen. In fact, UBI is impossible, even if every government in the world wanted it. UBI is something brought up by those who prefer not to work, but the money to pay for it simple does not exist.
I feel like Insight 14 - “Technological unemployment remains inevitable but latent demand for labor will be met first, creating a crucial planning window for a soft landing” - is the most riskiest assumption here. I’d like to know more about the latent demand for labor - which jobs are so undesirable or underpaid that no one will do them? And how much value will they really create? Either way - the slow, controlled release of humanoid robots into society is probably one of the most difficult planning challenges we will ever face… and likely where the most damage will be caused…

1. Robot workers will indeed reduce the real costs of goods due to reduced labor costs, BUT all governments have an explicitly inflationary monetary policy. This means that governments will simply print and spend even more money to counteract any deflationary forces that may arise. Your stuff is NOT going to get any cheaper. 2. Low quality goods are NOT mainly caused by the limitations of human workers. That is certainly a factor, but the main reason for low quality is consumers who demand ever-cheaper prices. Often the only way to do this is to use cheaper materials or processes, which leads to shoddy goods. You will never see the disappearance of cheap and low quality goods until consumers change their preferences.

But I did not have a family that drained my resources like others in the comment section. It is difficult to be a father, husband, have lots of friends - and also focused and disaplined at working and making money all at the same time. And everyone needs time to rest and recharge. Having robot servants would make some of the household tasks easier and some of the difficult or dangerous jobs at work better - but the current slate of robots are still very limited. The progress on these robots is actually slowing down. More companies are jumping in and doing about what or sometimes a little less than those who have been in this business for 30 + years. Just making them look like humans isn't that big of an accomplishment. You need a general purpose robot at a much lower price point to be viable to sell to the public. These systems were bought out by at companies and shut within 2 decades. A completely different future could have evolved.
I agree that we need to find ways to implement UBI ASAP. Hopefully, as the cost of highly capable humanoid robots "powered by" AGI/ASI comes down and prices of other commodities drop, UBI income will rise and support demand for products created by AI and robotics. Case in point, just because we've developed bicycles, cars, helicopters, and airplanes, does not mean we no longer teach our young to walk. That would be ridiculous, wouldn't it?
There are only 3 actual reasons to make a human-shaped robot:
1. To deceive people into thinking they are human.
2. To "replace" a loved one who is dead.
3. Sex.
For literally ANY other task, there are LIMITLESSS other shapes and sizes that are FAR more efficient to use than "humanoid".
The humanoid form is needed for any human tools that you expect a robot to use
Caring for people in hospitals, nursing homes, teaching, etc., all will probably have a human shape.

What happens when humans no longer have to work? What will we do for money? Will we all have the same ubi?
Start your own business, create different innovations, artwork etc… I figure any artworks or innovations create by human and not robots will be very valuable in the future.
They will just stamp 666 on your forehead and you'll be fine
The truth about automobile adoption is that there was an organized effort to suppress the use of electric public transit. My city had a large privately run electric streetcar tramcar rail system that ran on renewable hydroelectricity in 1898! Most of my neighbour cities had likewise. These systems were bought out by at companies and shut within 2 decades. A completely different future could have evolved.
And so how are people going to pay their bills
Universal basic income before we go Star Trek and get rid of money.

Great video, Thank you Farzad!
I agree that we need to find ways to implement UBI ASAP. Hopefully, as the cost of highly capable humanoid robots "powered by" AGI/ASI comes down and prices of other commodities drop, UBI income will rise and support demand for products created by AI and robotics. If that happens, we can just roll more or less "seamlessly" into this new world. However, a big key to that is to begin introducing and implementing UBI NOW! If it is actually inevitable that we are about to experience drastic deflationary pressure due to massive increases in productivity caused by AGI/ASI and robotics, perhaps this will be a situation where a judiciously applied inflationary monetary policy can actually save the world. 🤔
I am new Here. Please explain UBI, AGI and ASI. Thanks.
Only the lazy want UBI. Sorry, but there isn't enough money in the entire world for UBI, and never will be.
GOD help us all!
God will intervene. You can count on it. Now let’s all pray for God to put an error code in the machine. Hehehe!
No one can ever fix an error code from our lovely Heavenly Father.
Jesus is my Lord and Savior and He saved me and miraculously healed me in a Near Death Experience.
I was a lifelong agnostic until this moment at the age of 56 years old.
The cross in my avatar is a sign from heaven that God exists. Jesus showed it to me in my twilight sky and I photographed it. Ain’t that something?
God bless you forever🙏

it’s less of a disruption but more of a transition. We will always work.
I could save lots of money by buying a simple rickshaw, and have my personal robot drag me around town instead of driving a car. I like the idea, my own personal slave-bot. What a world!
That's not a desirable outcome, as it means losing the bone mass, muscle mass, and knowledge required for survival.
Case in point, just because we've developed bicycles, cars, helicopters, and airplanes, does not mean we no longer teach our young to walk. That would be ridiculous, wouldn't it? Similarly, just because we build devices to do our work doesn't mean we shouldn't work.
We could work, but I prefer the reality of Walle
Cue the entrance....Magnus, robot fighter. 👊🏻🤖
Was this created by A.I.? It's getting good!!!
I would say so, that's why I asked where all the resources are going to come from.
Yes... I hate all this AI videos on youtube..
😮 I did not think of this. You're right. And.. that british accent makes it sound so smaaa[r]t.
Wait, was this video created by AI from that RethinkX blog post?
Googled it
Joseph Swan. Joseph Swan, alongside Thomas Edison, is the person most credited with the invention of the light bulb.
The voiceover voice is A.I, and probably also the visual material in the video. Most likely also the script of what to say. So, the whole thing is most likely A.I generated from start to finish.
Star Trek here we come
This is great work. Thanks❤
I am not too convinced that humanoid robots will make a huge impact in production. I work in a factory where production is already fully automated. People only do very complex manual tasks. Human hands are very difficult to replicate with a machine. I think humanoid robots will replace a very few of the tasks left to automate but it will not be the huge disruption it is being predicted. The disruption has already been happening for many years with all kinds of automation and robotics.
@mukdajangkrajang4582
Those are industrial robots who are only in factories. These robots are consumer goods and will be also outside the factories. Human dexterity will be unsurpassed for a while yet, and will be needed to teach and supervise new tasks. Scifi authors have been writing and making movies, about robots and ai, for many decades now. This turn of events is not unexpected or near future unpredictable. 🤷
That just isn't true now. Android hands are already nearly as good as human hands.
The impact of AI Robots will be brutal to most of people
It depends on their mindset some people can't stand change they're going to have trouble
The lesson of the analogy…. horses invented cars.
Naa
Did you watch the video?
Yep, you nailed it😊
As a car, I can confirm I was created by a horse.
I thought horses invented glue 🤔
I wonder how tesla engineers feel about working towards unemployment. They should offer them a pension plan when signing on since one day they will no longer be required to do the ‘tasks’
Engineers wont become unemployed anytime soon 😂
Its the truck drivers, Uber drivers, Cashiers, Artists, Actors, Sounddesigners, Translators etc. That will perish
@@-schattenpflanze-3755 of course there will always be a need but I’m just thinking less will be needed to do the work. But who knows. No one has a crystal ball 🔮
@@dennisdelgado4276 i think its the exact Opposite. Its the very intelligent, motivated and educated that will remain BUT only in certain fields. I belive in the future some fields of work currently are erased, because they are obsolet. Such as Television Services, Animators and Sound Designers, Law is also a major field that can be dominated by AGI rather than human lawyers and judges, Farming and Agriculture will be fully Automated in just a couple decades, there will be no need for direct human interaction and Farmers will work only on Computers playing "Farm Simulator" in real life.
Logistics also will become way more complex, advanced and with faster production.
I also think Fast Food Restaurants in the future will be 100% autonomous, with no humans besides Security working at the Restaurants.
But will they put UBI before 2030!? Many pioneers including billionaires, scientists, Nobel Prize winners, engineers, architects, analysts and so on and so forth... almost all agree on the fact that we will have AGI in 2027 and ASI in 2029 and they look and evaluating the exponential technological acceleration curve, I wonder why they have not yet implemented universal basic income to anticipate the trends that will come from it. Just to name one, Elon Musk says that we will have AGI as early as 2025 and ASI in 2029.
I agree that we need to find ways to implement UBI ASAP. Hopefully, as the cost of highly capable humanoid robots "powered by" AGI/ASI comes down and prices of other commodities drop, UBI income will rise and support demand for products created by AI and robotics. Those AI tech leaders that have mentioned UBI are already backing away from it, as would be expected. The libertarians and neoliberal economic types that dominate AI tech whether it's large corporations or open source are the last people that are going to be willing to redistribute their profits, or be taxed for the government to do so in the form of a UBI. IF some form of UBI does happen it will be at the expense of existing safety net programs and will not come close to being sufficient to pay for housing, healthcare, food, utilities, transport, and the list goes on and on. Furthermore IF such a UBI is distributed it will require biometric identification and surveillance to track what your purchase along with a social credit score to determine if you are worthy enough to continue getting it.
Can't you just smell the free dumb?
@@flickwtchr inform yourself better about the UBI and then the price of material goods will drop, it will all be proportionate to the UBI that we will receive from the government. And you didn't answer my question I just want to know the date they will implement it
@@francescoambrosino1841 Go ahead and inform me of UBI, as apparently you know something that I don't. Resource? Just pure conjecture is all you have. Again, check back in say 10 years to see how everything is panning out for most people in the US, okay? Regarding the date it will be implemented? How about never. And I DID comment relative to your question pondering why UBI hasn't yet been implemented. Either you just didn't read my post, didn't credit the argument I made in an intellectually honest way, or just didn't understand it. I argued why it is unlikely a UBI will be implemented and if it is, it will not be sufficient, not even close.
@@flickwtchrSure, they will probably fck it up but it will become quite pressing. This isn't going to be a 10% of the workforce thing, it's going to be the entire workforce. Capitalism needs more than a band aid at that point.
I would like your charnel to produce a documentary that, in parallel to this one about the advent of humanoid robots, talks about what will happen to human activity... If humans are not needed anymore for labor, what will be their future occupation ... ? Humans need a goal to live
All we have to do is… look at the 400 years of slavery how chill it was for people that weren’t slaves
Being a slave sucks. Most of us still are in a sense.
Yes like 200 years ago was the good old days there's no way I had one live there ancient times everybody was a slave at one time or another like I said the good old days
@@gary-pietz4147Ancient times the concept of the steam engine was invented, but slavery was abundant so wasn’t any incentive to develop it
How will the introduction of more and more robots reduce the increasing wealth inequality
in the world? The technological revolution so far has not diminished wealth inequality in the US.
It won't. It will just lead to mass unemployment as humans are forced to compete with robots for their livelihoods.
