@Unbrickme if you read this, I just got this set from my parents for Christmas. I am a massive LEGO city guy I have own large city layout(and a layout on a window seat) the city is about 75% Mocs, 25% Sets and modified sets. Anyway back to this set, I’ve been wanting to try a technic set and as a huge car fan and fan of Fast And Furious, i was glad to receive this set. I’m about to build it and I thought you provided great opinions on the set, I think it’s a great entry level technic set. I have subscribed to your channel and plan to watch some of your videos while I build this. Thank you, and happy holidays!
Honestly, this is actually my favorite technic set. I don't care that it's not as advanced as all the other technic sets or if anyone judges me, I love this set and its my favorite technic set of all time.
dude did you ever see sth like the claas xerion? thats the REAL lego technic but that times are gone and the competition (eg cada) are mmuuuuch better for technic stuff today
The “chain” you can remove without consequence is the supercharger belt and the gear is the supercharger pulley. It has no functionality because there’s no combustion or even cylinder heads. I think it’s a nice detail they decided to add, especially since it runs with the engine much like a supercharger would.
Ah yes, you're an elitist. Back in my day if you got steering and a single piston engine you had a cool Technic set. If they gave you some rear suspension on top of that you were the coolest kid in school.
Technic as in technical as in complex/challenging to build,if a technic set is less than £50,it obviously makes sense that the build won't be too challenging or complex but for £90+,they need to have things like gears and complex functions to justify the price
@@Unbrickme Since all Lego sets come with instructions that tell you exactly which piece to put where (even highlighting, pointing, etc.) I would argue that no set meets the criteria of "challenging building" anymore. I would instead replace that part of the motto with "engineering marvel" to highlight the absurd amount of engineering that had to take place to get all of those pins and connectors, gear trains, and sometimes very specialized pieces to join together in all of their complicated angles of glory. The larger sets like the rough terrain crane, bucket wheel excavator, leibherr excavator, sian, porsche, bugatti, are all examples of this. Let's finally call a spade a spade. The vast majority of people who buy these sets are adults who in their childhood years yearned for more complicated technical details, but the vision, resources, and technical expertise of Lego employees was still in its infancy. Lego has finally realized a large part of their customer base is these exact children who have now grown up, and when they see a spectacular piece of engineering, they just have to have it and put it together to see how it works. When I can't afford to buy one right away, the first thing I do is download the instructions to see what's inside and what makes it tick, or watch a build video of someone else (which is similar). Again, there is nothing challenging about building one of these (if you are a grown up Lego maniac like me). The challenge was designing it in the first place. The reward for me building is is connecting to that designer(s) in a way that I understand their thought process and appreciating and admiring the unparalleled skill they must have in bringing their creation to life. So in that sense, it should at a very minimum be changed to "rewarding building." That's what drives me to open the box of a new set and start building. And I'm over 40 years old now.
dude the bricks used tell a shit about the category. technic sets are about awesome functions, learning how real engines work and stuff like that. thats why all the supercars and this one too, suck.
You’ve been very unfair on this, I’ve just built this last night and I was impressed, gearboxes are and have kinda been just for their flagship sets, Bugatti, Siån GT3 when the model already has functional HOG steering,(people complained that the Bugatti hadn’t got this), working diff, working engine, front independent suspension etc, I feel this model has more functionality than you’d expect for a non-flagship middle of the road technic set
Hey, I've been building LEGOs for literally decades and I think this set is awesome. Don't listen to everything you hear out there, just enjoy the stuff you like 👍🏻
Just because he says it's bad doesn't mean it is. That's why it's called an opinion. I myself love this set. Looks really nice when completed. You chose a great one
From an outsider/retired LEGO builder like me, i just admire the little details and it looks great once you've built it. That's at least my perspective on this.
I think what this set does well is have all the essential basic functions we expect from a Technic car set compacted into a great small chassis --- being able to fit this into a lower profile than they have ever done before is a Lego engineering feat worth commending. It's impressive that they also included the ability to stop building halfway through, where nothing but the details remain, so anyone could build their own "look" onto the basic chassis - I like that they made it so customisable in that way. My only real drawbacks about this model is that the wheels are too far under the car (no car is like that - it's very unrealistic), and they didn't even put basic things like mirrors on the sides. It also looks like it is missing pieces from both the side doors.
i got this one for christmas and it's great! I don't know what scale it is but it is my first technic car, and I hope to get more in the future! By the way, what scale is the charger?
Just finished building this set, I think it makes an awesome display piece!! It’s a $100 technic set, if you want a full gearbox, steering rack, etc... stick to the Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini.
I don’t understand what you mean about the supercharger belt. Its a lego set. Not everything has to be about functionality. It’s a nice decoration they put to simulate a supercharger belt. No big intensions really.
Dude, how are you gonna say the 42125 is a good set and then bash this one? It's $70 cheaper, has better functionality, and it looks better. Most of your complaints in this video are completely baseless anyway, like the thing with the non-functional steering wheel. I would much rather have a HOG steering gear than a useless one in the cabin. Terrible side to take, homie.
The chain isn’t connected to an axle? Well duh, axles aren’t driven by a chain, the chain is for the super charger, which in real life if you remove the chain it would still run, not great but it will.
It’s an intro set hense the cheapest technic car with a working engine and differential which I think is great for anybody who doesn’t wanna spend $500 but see if they enjoy the technic sets
You need to keep in mind the cost of this set which is 70 bucks. The sets with gearboxes are at least double price. Come on dude. Compromises have to be made for a price like that.
first things first this is not a hate comment and I am actually subscribed to you and I like your vids. Not every Technic set needs to be revolutionary and have many functions. Sometimes is good to ha a "simple" set. I mean yes, it would be cool if the set had a gearbox but it will cost more and I think it is a great modding material and I enjoy sets like this. Nowadays I buy Technic sets mostly for the parts anyways. And this set is completely black and that nicely fits in my parts collection. Also I have a question for you. What else would you add to the set except gearbox?
Besides a gearbox, I would probably add power functions/powered up compatibility to the set. Like, in the past many technic sets featured power functions compatibility with that extra $30 motor set and the set even included instructions on how to do that
@@Unbrickme wow I didn't expected that fast reply and the heart on my comment. Thumbs up for that :) That sounds like a great improvement. Maybe even functional steering wheel would be great

Theres a certain part where i think there was a missing piece from the set and i got confused because i didnt drop any pieces. So i might just buy a new one.
I don't think it will split the community down the middle, because most people just don't give a damn about it... You are the one manufacturing the controversy here by presenting it as if it's should be something controversial.
I just finished this and I have mixed feelings. I wanted this immediately when I saw it. The building process had me questioning my purchase. However, I’m happy with it. It’s got good looks, but it’s lacking in some areas. I agree the Corvette is horrible and I never bought it.
I’m a beginner to technic and ordered this before I saw your video. Would you say this set is good for beginner? I want to know that my purchase was worth it.
I had two technic cars when I was 7 so I'm kind of a beginner. Then I saw this and went like: mom, can I get this for Christmas? Then I had it on Christmas in 2020 and I love it! The car is very big, I still like it.
Dude not only does it look great, but you get suspensions, HOG steering, V8, Trunk, Wheelie thing, Doors, and authentic features like nitros and for extinguisher. Cmon man
While I understand why you are dissatisfied with this set, LEGO established this set at a particular price point. That is why they can’t add a gearbox and countless features. Not to mention they are limited by the fact that they are replicating a particular car, meaning they can’t have a front differential since it is rear wheel drive. And a winch just doesn’t belong on a Dodge Charger. LEGO has other sets that capitalize more on features while this one is meant more for authenticity and display. Anyways, great video
Unbrickme that is true, besides the liebherr there haven’t been many innovative sets. I do like the racing Porsche tho. And I am pretty sure we are getting a bell osprey this summer. I’m willing to bet that set is going to have great features.
@@HugeBigBeans oh I disagree the liebherr sucks, its just a big set with a flawed control plus system and each motor controls each own function, no gear switching
Unbrickme I mean the liebherr is no 8043 But I think it does what it should that being create a good model to capitalize on the new powered up features
1:22 i don’t think he’s seen the Brian VS Dom race in the first Fast and Furious race where Dom’s charger does a wheelie right at the start of the race.
I mean you’re comparing the LEGO Porsche technic set which is like $250 and about double the amount of pieces to this set that costs $100 and just over 1,000 pieces. It’s not going to match up to the bigger priced sets because LEGO could only provide so much for the amount of pieces that they gave based on price per piece. I get that it would have been cool to have the steering wheel turn with the front wheels with the help of some technic gears, but you also gotta look more towards the brighter side of this set. They give suspension pieces, they give a great engine with a working chain, they give us the option to recreate that iconic scene in the movie where Dom does the wheelie off the line against Brian’s Supra in the train track drag race. Although I’m a little upset, they still managed to make the wheels turn, and I know this last one is not really a play feature, but they added a nice touch with the nitrous bottles in the back. In my opinion, this set is more of a collectors item for the more mature LEGO builder audience who are into cars.
I think it looks like a great car but I think it would have been better as a creator expert, it could’ve been similar to the 10265 Ford Mustang because their both muscle cars.
Lego RARELY releases technic cars with gearboxes. Your comparisons are terrible. You compare a $100 set with power functions that has 1/3rd parts, different parts. The Corvette has 500+ Parts, this has 1000+. Its on the same parts to price ratio. Now imagine the price of a Lego Car with 1000 parts and power functions..... It would be well over $200. I get your opinions but the basis for some are not very well thought out.
Yeah but even if it had a speed transmission gearbox it wouldn’t be automatically considered a toy. Look at the Ducati panigale v4 r, it’s pretty much just a display piece yet that set is incredible with good functionality
@@Unbrickme just checked it and there were to pieces that i accidentally put in that went inward and i had to make them go outward and it works not thanks!
I disagree. There are a whole bunch of lego technic sets that dont have those things, corvette springs to mind or the much smaller ones like 42102, 82901 or 42084 . That being said I would have expected the steering wheel to be attached.
This video seems quite nitpicky like I'm not a F&F fan but I am into technic and this car doesn't suck despite the thumbnail the reason it doesn't do anything technical is because it knows exactly what it's trying to accomplish and accomplishes it its focus is on play features over complicated mechanisms and for this set I can 100% say it's better then a version with technical parts.
You should really learn the proper nomenclature and the names of different car parts if you're going to review technic sets based on real-life car vehicles.
Bruh your opinion is trash. It makes no sense why you expect this set to have above average technic features. Power functions and gearboxes and stuff like that are ABOVE AVERAGE things for a technic set. This set has average features and above average looks so there is no reason to dislike this set. I don’t understand why you were so disappointed by it. Also by the way I am a big fan of your videos, you were just very unfair in this video.
I think that a lego technic set doesn't have to have complicated gearboxes or systems to it to be a technic set. To be a technic set it has to be primarily technic pieces, feature some gear operated mechanisms, do something/ look like a vehicle or anything else that you can think of.
Not sure you can call it a plain set. It has a good number of functions for the price. Not sure it’s big enough for a functioning gearbox for example. The sort of sets that have working gearboxes cost an awful lot more. This set has way more features than the new Jeep Wrangler for example which doesn’t have a working engine. And you don’t get similar functions from Creator sets. Apart from the Mustang and new Porsche 911 none of them have working steering and none of them have suspension or working engine.
I got this yesterday, and I agree that it isn't the best. But to me, it's just a display model, as it is quite cheap for a Technic set (at least in New Zealand). I see it as a beginner's model.
I got this for Christmas in 2020 and me and my dad was building it. We lost a peice. My dad said no more eating on the couch months later. As I remember we was building it on the couch. He was sweeping crumbs away from the couch we found the peice and he said "are you sure thats it?" And I said " remember we were building it here on the couch? If its right here at the couch this is it!" Few days later and I finally got the courage to finish this set. Now I play with this thing all day. Its just that good.
i think the corvette zr1 set is even worse -doesnt have suspension -doesnt have in car steering -not very complex -doesnt have opening and closing doors -doesnt have a opening trunk and hood -no gearbox
Oh ok I get you. I grew up on technic and yes there is usually a lot more people involved like that giant technic car with an actual functioning gear ⚙️ box. However over the years it seems that technic isn’t as popular. I mean what ever happened to the spare gear sets as well as the power sets. There was so much more in the lego catalogs I used to get as a child. Also the mind storm faded away like it never existed.
i totally agree. They could give up some playable functions but this is giving up way too much for the look. If they want the look, they should use CreatorExpert line up for this car. To make it worse, what are those 8-bit-style wheel arch? This car DID give up some functional creativity for the LOOK, no? If they go a step higher on design (or even new bricks) and charge $50 more, I don't think people will be so polarize about it.
They can’t add all that, people love fast n furious you will get people who don’t even build legos that just love the movies. If you make it to expensive they wouldn’t of gotten a fan like me to buy it. Now I am hooked on these. Thankyou for your reviews
I really hope lego dont go down the route of totally decorative sets and keep going with sets like the Mercedes arocs, Leibherr excavator and Rough terrain crane
This set may not have the gearbox or transmission that most technic sets have, but it is a great set for a first time technic builder. It has the basic parts that can introduce the builder into technic while leaving it pretty simple. It could be better but for first time technic builders it is a great set.
That is what I want!!!! I want a huge challenge for me!!!! Not something a baby could do. But it does look amazing!!!! I love older cars and stuff like that car but in my opinion they could of done a way way WAY better job on the gears. It's the gears that make the set what it is. Not good gears, not good set. Good gears and good looks( witch it did a good job on that part.) Will mean a good set. Like your vid bro feel up the good work no matter what someone says.
I totally agree with you it definitely would be better to have the option to have power function plus for a little bit more money you can get the Porsche which to my opinion is a much better build and set
This technic kit is for fans of Fast and Furious fans and it's a good kit for a first Technic Set. Because there's not many things you can mess up to begin with, and from there onwards, go up in difficulty

I’m a beginner to technic and ordered this before I saw your video. Would you say this set is good for beginner? I want to know that my purchase was worth it.
I think it’s good for beginner
I had two technic cars when I was 7 so I'm kind of a beginner. Then I saw this and went like: mom, can I get this for Christmas? Then I had it on Christmas in 2020 and I love it! The car is very big, I still like it.
You didn't build it right lol those back window "wings" aren't supposed to stick out like that. It's a simple set but I love the anesthetics.
Dude not only does it look great, but you get suspensions, HOG steering, V8, Trunk, Wheelie thing, Doors, and authentic features like nitros and for extinguisher. Cmon man
"speed switcher" c'mon really?
Yo it actually really sucks that you spent all that effort to get it just for it to disappointing
Exactly bro
First fix the back wing parts and then complain about it
Did that off camera, I still have the same overall feelings about it
Of course I got this $100 lego F&F Charger for my birthday and someone on the internet is bashing it. Thanks
Yeah I understand your points, I'm just disappointed with lego Technic these days. They have been lacking in cool features since like 2018.
what's your favorite lego technic set by the way? mines the 8043
Unbrickme that is true, besides the liebherr there haven’t been many innovative sets.
Congrats on 3k
thank you so much
I noticed that at 1:41 part of the front isnt pushed together completely…
Congrats on 3k dude
This set is underrated is gets too much hate
I think it looks like a great car but I think it would have been better as a creator expert, it could’ve been similar to the 10265 Ford Mustang because their both muscle cars.
Lego RARELY releases technic cars with gearboxes. Your comparisons are terrible. You compare a $100 set with power functions that has 1/3rd parts, different parts. The Corvette has 500+ Parts, this has 1000+. Its on the same parts to price ratio. Now imagine the price of a Lego Car with 1000 parts and power functions..... It would be well over $200. I get your opinions but the basis for some are not very well thought out.
fair points
I really don’t know why everybody says that it sucks in my opinion it’s actually pretty cool
2:17 the reason for the chain is to “simulate” a supercharger
It’s a good looking set
I get what this guys saying, but tbh, it’s more of a display than a play toy....
Yeah but even if it had a speed transmission gearbox it wouldn’t be automatically considered a toy. Look at the Ducati panigale v4 r, it’s pretty much just a display piece yet that set is incredible with good functionality
wouldn’t be “considered” as a play toy, I’m sure most people would use it as a toy
no hate
does your "wheelie bar" hold up the car? bc mine does not.
Perhaps you have an error in the mechanism. Check your mechanism
@@Unbrickme thanks ill do that
@@Unbrickme just checked it and there were to pieces that i accidentally put in that went inward and i had to make them go outward and it works not thanks!
I have it and it is the best set I’ve ever had
Wait this sets 100$? Ok maybe it's fair I think this sets worth 50/70$ personally
i just watched up to toyko drift and my opinion hasnt changed
Stop crying. Its a good set
You should really learn the proper nomenclature and the names of different car parts if you're going to review technic sets based on real-life car vehicles.
thank you very much for your feedback!
Most annoying thing is when you think you’ve finished and find an error meaning you have to rebuild it
Bruh your opinion is trash.
I see it as a beginner's model.
yeah maybe, but look at the ducati! its cheaper and it has a fully functional gearbox!
Its just that good.
i think the corvette zr1 set is even worse
-doesnt have suspension
-doesnt have in car steering
-not very complex
-doesnt have opening and closing doors
-doesnt have a opening trunk and hood
-no gearbox
Its a small set,not even big to put a gearbox
@@zaxisontherun i have the set, its pretty big and there is still a ton of un-used space
I bought this one and kinda messed when the wheels and if you put on a turning hill it drifts
Looks great! I love the motors and fun details. This is a great review! I am a big fan, so keep the work up. You INSPIRE!
It doesn't have any motors it just has a fake V8 engine. But, thank you very much im flattered
@@Unbrickme how fake? Its working v8 with a chain
@@ladesh3616 fake as in made out of plastic smh if it were real the thing would blow up
Oh ok I get you.
Thanks! Yeah it seems like in the past we would get more functional lego technic sets
i totally agree.
Yeah thank you for agreeing with me I actually made a full rc mod of this set in case you wanna check that out
So its gonna be my first technic lego is it good or no
Using WORST set in the title was really click bait. Shame on you.
No it wasn’t. I actually think this is one of the worst technic sets
What about the new Ducati? The functions are very cool for such a compact build imo. And the price is amazing for all those juicy new parts.
Yeah I totally agree the new Ducati is amazing and it even has a fully functional speed transmission gearbox! Watch my review of that one
This looks like the ghost rider car from agents of shield
I see that
Just add flame elements
Everyone RELAX this guy is just sharing his OPINION!
exactly! thanks for supporting me I appreciate it! favorite lego technic set?
@@Unbrickme umm my favourite is 911 gt3 rs
No
@@Trija204 what?
I gotta agree on suckage part though - out of scale between everything and that kinda ruins the experience.
Thank you!
They can’t add all that, people love fast n furious you will get people who don’t even build legos that just love the movies. If you make it to expensive they wouldn’t of gotten a fan like me to buy it. Now I am hooked on these. Thankyou for your reviews
Same, I love this
I made the car low and put in transmision and electric lego motor and it has camber its amazing
I really hope lego dont go down the route of totally decorative sets and keep going with sets like the Mercedes arocs, Leibherr excavator and Rough terrain crane
I have it and it is so cool just because it doesnt have a gearbox it doesnt matter it is still a great display car
It may be a bad set but you have to appreciate that engine tho
This set may not have the gearbox or transmission that most technic sets have, but it is a great set for a first time technic builder. It has the basic parts that can introduce the builder into technic while leaving it pretty simple. It could be better but for first time technic builders it is a great set.
It looks so good!!!! it looks like a Dodge Charger!!
That’s because it is lol
it looks good, but it has no functionality or challenging building
Thank you so much what’s your favorite technic set?
I wonder if lego collectors even play with the sets they buy. like do they go "pew pew" and "aaaaaaa" with the stormtroopers, and have space battles
I go "pew pew" and "aaaaaaa" with the stormtroopers, and have space battles
Aye congrats on 3k
This technic kit is for fans of Fast and Furious fans and it's a good kit for a first Technic Set. Because there's not many things you can mess up to begin with, and from there onwards, go up in difficulty
