    Since in a crash, you want the energy to be absorbed by the car and not the crash test dummy. The one that breaks up the most (since Lego doesn't deform) would be absorbing the most energy and should therefore have the best rating. Great video and Lego engineering of the test track.

    Ironically irl, the ratings likely would’ve been flipped. Cars are made to collapse in the event of a crash so it absorbs the brunt of the energy. If the car was completely solid, most of the energy is going straight the the occupants of the car and… carnage ensues.

    NGL having built everyone of these the thumbnail really grabbed me. Given how structurally fickle some of these can be when handling most of these preformed astonishingly well not only remaining intact but busting up the test wall as well. Really good test track built but for more destruction longer means more speed. Have to wonder how either the 89 Batmobile or Ecto 1 would have preformed though both probably to large in size for the track set up.

    FYI engines don't just explode like that, at most it would catch on fire. To get an engine to explode like you seemed to describe, you would have to somehow manage to increase the pressure in the pistons (and without heavily modifying the engine, would be impossible by normal means)

      @scottthewaterwarrior 2 года назад

      @@dshiznit12a I haven't had any issues with wheels breaking when crashing my cars, though I have starting having to remove clip based mirriors from a few cars as well as the bull bar from my police car (also held on by clips) as they broke quite easily if hit at the wrong angle. Only time I've experienced a LEGO wheel breaking (tecnically it was the axle that snapped) was when I child pushed down on the car way too hard. Maybe a large, very heavy LEGO car could break an axle if you through it out a second floor window, but beyond that IDK how you could do it.
      Actually if you _heald_ the vehicle while pushing it onto something, then maybe, but that would be similar to putting too much weight on it. With just pushing then letting go, the cars own mass shouldn't be enough to break a wheel when it hits something.

    You should try crashing cars designed by fans. Also, cars which break easily are probably the best cars, as it shows the car can absorb the impact forces.
    You shouldn’t make the car too fragile though, as it will break the passenger cabin as well, thus injuring and killing our passengers and driver.

If the car doesent have any soft body mechanics at all (which can basically make a car be able to be squished from the front), for the driver, it will be exactly like being thrown straight into a wall at the amount of speed they are going, which would definetley be serious injury or an instant death.

That was a serious problem with old cars, and it led to the end of those fancy, experimental designs for cars. Ever wonder why modern cars don’t look as nice or as curvy as old ones? What a fun video. Thanks for sharing. All this really makes me appreciate how far Lego system bricks have come in making realistic looking cars. Wow. If you did not tell me this was Lego I would have thought some of these cars were purpose-built models. Again, well done.

    Back in the day, me and my sister used to crash test whatever cars came with our lego sets by rolling them off the top step and letting them tumble down the stairs. One of them we never managed to put back together. RIP Lego Friends taxi.

    This video was honestly one of the best Lego videos I have seen!! I know how much effort you have put into this, knowing that I make stuff like this.... I have an entire city built!so good job! Also, I am currently working on a Lego car MOC myself, about the size of the mustang you built. It has an openable hood with a realistic engine and a removable radiator and everything! I wish there was a way to show you a picture of it. Also, I am working on separating 210 pounds of Lego or something like that and could use some pointers like should I separate by color or peice, (considering the small amount of space I have.) Anyway, Keep up the good work!!!

    I think the DB4 should've had 4 stars at least. Destruction was minimal and the dummy seemed intact. Must've been the reinforced chassis and armor plating.

      Also, the engine most likely wouldn’t explode because no epothermic reaction and thus wouldn’t ignite the fuel

      That would mean that the dummy is absorbing most force and not the car, so erm actually it would get a low rating

    From the safety point of viiew, the less the car is damaged during a crash test, the worse for the passengers irl... But since it lego, who cares about passengers =)

      i think lego city people will be turning to very large blockhogs to instead destroy the obstacles like the VW camper did, and not get destroyed themselves

  • @yvngjokes9854
    @yvngjokes9854 2 года назад +12

    The reason the camper did so well is because the tire on the front absorbed most of the impact

    • @gangsterjackal841
      @gangsterjackal841 2 года назад

      If the tire absorbed the impact, why'd the wall break. To me it looked like none of the energy was absorbed by the car, because all of the force went against the wall all at once. If the tire was absorbing energy the same amount of force would happen against the wall, but over a longer period of time. To keep it simple the wall was absorbing the impact by acting as a barrier

    Up to my preteens I used to REALLY get a kick out of ramming as fast as I could into walls really nicely built LEGO cars I could come up with, even space fighters with of course wheels on the bottom of them AND planes.
    I enjoyed noticing how scientific and physics minded I was getting making extremely damage and shatter resistant ones!
    ...These kinds of videos allude to me WHY I need to keep on getting the final 1/3 of *_elementary education credits_* I need. I do like explaining stuff. ☝🏻🤓
