They already did after the long absence of HalfLife in Valve.

you _know_ something is wrong when fans can do something a huge company can't or just flat-out refuses to.
From my perspective,
Companies form great things but also makes their own limitations throughout the years which makes great things diminish throughout the time.
While fan creators has freedom, imagination and passion(rarely) due to the fact that they are a fan of that thing they like, they kinda only lack money and resources.
I dont know if I said it well but that's just my thought.
Well they did create a lot of memorable games for us, so I don't mind them stop making games anymore. Besides, it opens up huge opportunity for the fanbase to make stuff for their beloved games by themselves. It's a win-win imo.

Not really...the fact that they never bothered to finish Half-Life is NOT win for anyone.....not for them and not for the fans. Ye for sure you can say that now fans can finish the story (Project Borealis), but lets be honest here....its nowhere near the same kind of thing if Valve had done it either with episode 3 or Half-Life 3. Especially if they had done it with same ambition and dedication and talent as the first 2 games.

I tought xen didn't have any fauna, but if functioned more like a border world. So when the portals opened the aliens were teleported to Xen, as well as the Earth.

Aside from this i heard Project Borealis is in development and is looking pretty promising as this, i hope to see more details in Xen.

outside of the gravity Gun mechanic, I kind of prefer how Boreal Alyph is coming along, personally.

It really pleased that there are zombie scientists in HEV suits, there are a lot of dead scientists in Xen in the same suits, but in the original game they are simply shown dead by corpses, here you can see not just a remake, but the expansion of the Half-Life universe. Many things were not disclosed in the original game, especially for Xen.
In the beginning of the game, we get to see a young Isaac Kleiner (he still has hair!) and Eli in Black Mesa. And they refer to each other by name. (The guy who does Isaac's voice is really good, too). They're not just "generic scientist 1 & 2." I love that this game is adding to the Half-Life world.

@@-notsc-94 yeah, the concept art was so much detailed, and felt alive,but the ingame xen failed to get that feeling, but this xen, feels like an alive environment, I suppose that when gaben planned a xen for half life, it was more like this what they had in mind.
Xen was the weakest part of HL1. From the looks of it, Xen might be the best part of Black Mesa.

I haven't finished Half-Life but Xen looks like it might give off the feeling Ultimate Doom did.
I particularly like the abandoned research outpost, super creepy atmosphere.

The song at 13:30 makes me think that Gordon sees Xen as a beautiful alien world, and the inhabitants are seemingly innocent. But, Gordon has to defeat the Nihilanth, and he has to fight through the hostile aliens on Xen, to finally fulfill his duty coming over to Xen

I always felt that the original Xen was kind of deliberate, in that to make it a truly alien environment Valve made the levels completely different from the rest of the game, ignoring all the design and techniques learned in the earlier levels to throw players off.
I really do like this iteration more. It’s beautiful, vibrant and has some of my favourite events from HL mods, such as the Black Mesa outposts in POV. Although more modern tech probably helps, it shows you can keep the core design and still make it look otherworldly
This is like the original xen they had in mind, but for time reasons the game was rushed in xen and sadly could not be as good as originally intended, this is more like what gabe imagined for xen

So worth the wait, and I love all the new stuff, powering crystals, energy-sucking thingies etc and especially the layouts. BTW if you're having trouble with the jump at 5:42 you have to sprint at the same time (and long jump, of course) Already on pins and needles for the full release.
Crowbar Collective's epic masterpiece was to recreate one of the classic's weakest part of the game.

Absolutely thrilled. The design is very similar to Episode 3 Xen concept art and I'm loving it. The environment feels more like the actual Xen and not just a bunch of floating islands.
For once, I'm not mad at a Half-Life 2 Mod that has a first-person cutscene.
I love how they changed the atmosphere from Green to Purple / Blue < I'm colour blind with Red and Green so Idk what Purple or Blue's differences are

@@DatsWhatXiSaid I got more of a World or Warcraft or Shrine of Amana from Dark Souls 2 vive from the nature scenes. For the Black Mesa scientist bases, I got a Doom III, F.E.A.R., and even a Duke Nukem Forever vive. All of the games from that era had a "high-tech" aesthetic for some reason :/

While I'm not a big fan of how enemies look in the source engine (cosmetically speaking) I do enjoy how this xen mod is more immersing into suspense and horror theme the original game had than the its original xen map
Just finished the beta, can't describe the experience with words. Everything that you see looks alive and you get the feeling that it has been there for years. Amazing.

Half way through the video, I just can't proceed watching it, it's so good that I wish to play it. Crowbar Collective, what a beauty you guys have created. My jaw dropped watching this beautiful level. It's hard to believe it's still the old source engine that is nicely polished. Appreciate the awesome work and dedication that you guys have put in. I'd love to see Blue Shift and Opposing force from you guys, reserruct the whole series. Wish you guys all the best, love from India.
I would have liked the zombHEVs to look more like the zombine, you know, making more frightening warnings for the damage you're doing or getting out of the pocket a ... I do not know, a crowbar maybe?

I absolutely love the details.
Especially the headcrab zombies wearing the suits, and how when you damage/kill them, their suits make the same noises yours would had it been you

Black mesas xen really represents the fact that black Mesa has been to xen before, with the bases, the equipment, and the survey team corpses..and the environments really show where each species lives, an example being the basin in the island, where the swimming aliens are, could be one of the locations that species inhabits...can’t wait for the full release of black Mesa: Xen and Black Mesa: Black Mesa to be combined to make Black Mesa: General
The forest-like part of Xen gives me the metaphor of how humans keep on destroying the environment and killing animals for their own gain. I was amazed and truly enjoying it until that metaphor hit me...hard.
But none the less, I love this Xen!
Ironically speaking about that, homo sapiens who constantly travel to Xen and stole many yellow crystals was the reason why Nihilanth wanted to wage war against humans.

@@RadioactiveLemonn To be fair, both sides are at fault. Humans are at fault for stealing alien creatures resources what doesn't belong to theirs. Nihilanth was also at fault for not only being asshat waging war on Earthlings, but being the pot calling the kettle black in enslaving Vortigaunts.
I personally love this type of universe where there's no clear distinction of who is right and who is wrong here. That's why I love Half-Life (being veteran gamer since late 2002).
+Atonius Torres And theres the Combine/Galactic Union(or whatever they are actually called) where they invade, take all the resources and convert the species of said invaded place into their armies(if I read all of that right).

The level starts WAY different than the original half life. They don't just put you in a floating rock and then jump other floating rocks only to lose health and have no clue on what to do
