It's important to note that the additional satellites you buy called the RBS40 uses a different firmware version than the RBS50 so be sure you download the correct firmware. The good news is that the RBS40 won't take the RBS50 firmware.
Thank you Paul... I currently have the Orbi AC3000 with the included RBK50 satellite. I want to purchase another SAT and daisy chain; my concern is looking at Netgear's website, it only shows how to sync it to the Orbi Router, and not how to connect to the existing SAT. Please advise... Thanks!
hey paul, i am using an orbi but i still have dead spots in upper office and out in the garage. can i use my old luma system to connect to the orbi and get better coverage in the spaces that are further away from the router?
Hi ... i hv isp ethernet already fixed on my home . I hv 3 questions . 1st can orbi configured as main router ? Tha uses username and password through pppoe ???? 2nd i hv a patch panel with 24 port switch . Can orbi first router connected to this switch to feed other satellite using ethernet ??? And all satellite will give the same mesh network ???? ... 3rd if i have 2 set of orbi . 2 routers 2 satellite ... can i configure 1 of the routers to act as satellite ????
Nice video, but quick question: how do i actually force a 3rd satellite to use the daisy chain? I have the proper firmware and I've enabled daisy chain topology, but my most distant satellite is still trying to link back to the original router. (with backhaul status of "poor"). How do i force that satellite to try a daisy chained connection to its sibling satellite instead?
Hi Paul. Great vids. I have recently built a 6k sq ft home w wired Ethernet. I'm thinking of a gigabit switch for my Ethernet to take advantage of wired as much as possible, but using the orbi for wifi, would you recommend anything different? Thanks for you help.
I think it would work well for you. The only reason you may think of going a different direction is that a wired backhaul would take advantage of your fully wired home, and the Orbi currently doesn't support a wired backhaul. The third band on the Orbi is rather impressive, and should cover your home if you place the satellites correctly.
Paul, love your videos but, please, remove the background music (at least lower the volume) as it is very distracting and making it difficult to understand you properly. It has no added value
This is not a reason to buy Orbi. Version 2.0.0.74 is full of bugs. My 2 satellite Orbi system is now incredibly unstable. Worst release and quality control I've ever seen. Basically impossible to stream without the system crashing. And cant prevent autoupdate to current software. Netgear used to be a good company - now forces updates that are bug ridden and unusable. Unacceptable for home wifi to be this unstable. Version 1 initially had problems but never this bad. They should pull this release.
I too am having very bad stability issues with 2.0.0.74. Satellites are constantly disconnecting and changing bands. Tried going back to the old version only to find my system upgraded back to 2.0.0.74 on its own. Frustrating. Calling Netgear is a joke. They only want to sell you a service contract.
I am having constant drops on my RBR40 and 2 RBS 40 satellites. So frustrated with this product. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Buy something else. Just look at the Netgear forums for tons of threads on dropped signals.

Thanks for the note - I updated the description with firmware links for the 30, 40, and 50.

Thanks Paul!!!!! These videos are super useful.
I appreciate the feedback - thanks!

Hey Paul, new firmware update! Disney Circle & wired backhaul.
Thanks - I'll post something soon (hopefully in the next few days). Wired Backhaul! Everyone has been asking for that feature for a while now.
Just posted the video - ruclips.net/video/1DshUBgA0Ac/видео.html
Thanks again

Hey. Did you find a solve for this?

Can you show the to separate networks 2.4 & 5ghz networks and from you connect device select which one you want to use
Would you recommend me taking the old one back I have it backed by geek squad and upgrade to this new version???
No - This is just a firmware upgrade, not a hardware upgrade.
Hi, do I still need to enable daisy chain function if I only have one satellite in my home ?
Wondering this as well
how do you enable daisy chaining
