I also have my satellite tv box plugged into my isp router so hoping that will still work once this is set up. my satellite tv is using the first socket on my isp router which it appears the Orbi will now need to plug into?

Do I need Ethernet cable s to connect sattelites?
Hi, you know how to switch the Orbi RBR50 only to 2.4 Ghz? because my smoker Traeger 1300 controller only works on that frequency?
The Orbi network should allow for that device to connect automatically to the 2.4 GHz connection if that's the only frequency it supports. If you're running into an issue, you could check the frequency settings (typically under Advanced > Wireless Settings) and turn the 5GHz frequency power to 25% or lower. If you need additional help, contact Netgear support at bby.me/npxsje.
i have a satellite and a router but only one gets found. what do i do to fix it?

Do you have to use the Ethernet cable that comes with it or can you use another one?
Any Ethernet cable should work interchangeably with the router.
The main issue I find is the Orbi 'Router' seems to drop out continuously. (Flashing pink/purple light). My broadband router doesn't drop out though and seems to still be working fine. Why is the Orbi constantly dropping? Can anyone shed some light on this?

The easiest route would be to power off your existing Orbi system and then set up the new Orbi network with the same network name and password as the prior system.

Should you shut off the Wi-Fi signal coming from your original modem and just run the Wi-Fi signal from the orbi? Will having two Wi-Fi signals running from two modems fed by the same internet signal source interfere with each other or will this increase the amount of items I can have running of the Wi-Fi signal?
It's best to run a single wireless network in your home for both security and performance reasons.
well you could just run them on different channels.. and make sure the channels are not to close freq. wise so it will not cause interference with one another.. & the best part is that you can have different networks so what ever connected is not shared with one-another as wired and wifi cannot be seen on the same network unless you allow it and the same goes with 2 different wifi networks

Does setting the network name and password to the same name and password of my current router help my connected devices to automatically connect to this new router?
In most cases, yes. Your devices will generally connect automatically as they typically look for the network name versus a specific router.

In the WiFi Analytics.... how do you change the current channel Orbi is on?
Your Orbi network will normally scan the local area for other signals to choose the best WiFi channel for performance. However, to change the channel manually, try these steps:
1. Open a web browser on a device currently on the Orbi network and visit orbilogin.net.
2. Sign in with your Orbi admin username and password.
3. Select "Wireless" to get to the WiFi settings page.
4. Select a number from the "Channel" menu for the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz networks.
Instead of a modem, can I connect orbi with another wifi router (connected with a modem) with an ethernet cable?
Yes, you can set the Orbi router as an access point to an existing network. You'd typically do this by connecting it to a router or gateway with an ethernet cable and then choosing "AP Mode" under that advanced setup options on the Orbi router.
Does anyone have Orbi working with Spectrum?

The Orbi and other WiFi systems will generally work with any broadband modem.
I want to thank you sincerely for this video. I went through the app instructions but they didn't tell you which port to put the ethernet cable in to the Orbi. Your video clearly showed it should be "internet." I had it in "ethernet." I deleted the app, reinstalled everything and boom, I am now up and running. No ideal why Netgear didn't say what port to put the cable in in their instructions. So thank you so much. Without this video, I'd still be pulling my hair out.

Connect the Orbi to my router with an ethernet cable. OK. Then disconnect and move to another room???

Anyone have any issues when switching off the router and satellite at night, before going to bed? Had read a couple of times that it's best to turn them on 24 hours a day or else you could face performance issues. Has anyone faced any such issue with the RBK852 model?
Most wireless routers are designed to be on 24/7, so there's generally no need to turn them off.
That said, if you running into an issue with your Internet connection, a common troubleshooting step is to unplug both your router and modem, wait a minute, then plug them back in to allow them to restart.

I live in a building that installed Ethernet jacks around '02. They purport that the speeds are 1000Mbps wired and 100Mbps wireless. I have an old router and wifi extender that I purchased 2 years ago.
I want to upgrade to wifi 6. I know I have to get rid of the old router. My question is, can I upgrade to wifi 6 tri-band mesh or am I limited to wifi 5?
My research indicates the subscription is for Armor Security for the Orbi and may take a little tech knowledge to install. Experienced end users have recommended not allowing the trial

You can. Any of the Ethernet ports can be used to hardwire into the network

Your Orbi router unit should be plugged directly into your modem, not into another router. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

How does this work with current WiFi? If I have an internet service provider already, but the mbps is slow, will this help?
No, it only broadcasts the speed that is put in to it by your internet provider. If your current WiFi system is only 2.4ghz and you have a 600 mbps internet connection then yes i would upgrade your modem and your wifi router

Ive had no luck setting this up yet, on the video i get confused because the modem he uses changes? someone help me here ? does he mean the modem or the fibre box connected to the wall I dont even know what thats called lol
"Modem" typically refers to the broadband device that converts the incoming signal (Cable, DSL, Fiber, etc) to something a computer could use. In most cases, you'll have a modem connected to a wall jack and then your WiFi router connected to the modem to share that connection wirelessly.
If you haven't, we recommend first setting up your modem and then connecting a computer directly to it to confirm you have access to the Internet. From there, you can connect the router up to the modem replacing the computer.

Netgear Technical Support does not support the U.S. Military. I purchased a new Orbi AX6000 system for $1,000 and had issues during setup/installation. The app kept freezing up and the installation would not complete. I unsuccessfully tried four times to install the system (uninstalling the Netgear app each time). I called Netgear Technical Support and they insisted I email them a copy of my receipt while I was on the phone. I was then told that the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) was a third party vendor and I didn't qualify for free technical support. The Exchange is a department store ,like a WalMart, located on military installations. The Netgear tech offered me a plan where I would to pay for their support. I was denied the ability to speak to a supervisor or someone in the U.S.A. - the tech was outside the continental U.S.A. Needless to say, I returned the Orbi to the military Exchange. I bought a TP-Link AXE54000 and did not have any issues during setup/installation. During my more recent google searches on Orbi installation issues I have found numerous discussions where my problem may have simply been due to a need to update the Netgear software on the router.
