Picking up my Maxwell headset tomorrow! I've been really tossed on which headset to buy and after watching your review of it plus now seeing a follow up with custom EQ I decided to just go ahead and pick one up. Luckily there is one in stock locally so I dont have to wait for retailers to restock them. Probably going to take advantage of your discount codes and get a set of Wicked cushions right away as I loved my wicked cushions on my last headset
I ended up having to change the pads to WC because the stock pads are too shallow, my ears touched the drivers making them hurt after some time. Thanks for the video!

Audeze x aydan already comes with wicked cushions pads they aren't gel ones though so best pf both worlds not heavy but they look deeper than og.
I saw on Reddit that you bought a second Maxwell. Did you note any difference or inconsistencies between the two headsets?

one of my biggest things is getting the EQ right.. so I have a few questions or could you possibly make a video..
I'm looking for the best immersive sound when it comes to single player games only. starfield, horror games etc.
I know there's a EQ app on Windows to download the updates and do that as well.. but also on Xbox there's quite a few different settings different sound apps and they also have their own EQ setting.
could you possibly recommend or a how-to video on getting the best sound??? and how do I start this whole process?

Thanks for this video! I'm hoping to get a wireless headset for mainly FPS gaming, I need side tone and would love chatmix. I'm considering Audeze Maxwell's or the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. I won't spend a lot of time listening to music or watching movies so purely gaming, would you say the steelseries would be better for my use case? Thanks!
I think it would be really cool to see thermal temps after say 15m, 30m, 1hr, 2hr type thing but really well done review overall love your work.
They are good.. I had them for the nova7 and dang they felt great even after 5 hours.. nothing is perfect and will stay cool, you need to find something that still feels good while warm and these felt great! 100 percent recommended..
I swear I've seen a WC Freeze custom eq for the maxwells in one of your videos but i can't find it anymore now that I got my cushions 😂😂
I wish WC would make velour/leather combos. I tried the freeze pads on the Penrose and they're only cool for the first 20 minutes and after an hour they're hotter.
Velour for me doesn't hold cold or heat much, so they're great for long term use.

Im surprised you don’t don’t testing on games like Hunt showdown who uses 3D audio and all that jazz. Would be great to see you do an EQ for that!
For anyone worried or on the fence about the maxwell and it’s size. I have a fairly tall and big head, 7 3/4 hat. They fit me perfect on the middle setting of the strap. I was worried it might be to heavy, I don’t find it any heavier than any other high quality headset. I use WC freeze pads and the headset is insanely comfortable. It doesn’t feel heavy at all when holding it, just well built. I do have a pretty strong linebacker type neck but I can’t imagine it being too much for someone smaller. It honestly doesn’t feel “heavy” to me at all. Remember these weights are in grams so even a bigger number still isn’t heavy. It will feel heavier if you’re used to all plastic headsets but to me it just feels solid and well built. Should fit any head very comfortably and I played for 7 hours straight with no weight or neck issues. Hope this helps

hello , I'm on the fence to buy this headset because it doesn't have active noise cancellation and the weight !but I'm intrigued by it ! it has all -the things I want . my problem with over-ear headsets are the strap on top of it that gives me pressure on my head ! in my country it is 430€ (for xbox) this is the first I hear about this brand and want quality

The sound change with different pads is interesting, I had the nova 7x with different pads, but thicker. And it sounded actually better, not as muffled. Nice to see how WC worked it out =) sad to see issues already coming up with the Maxwell. Guess i stick with my Stealth Pro, can't wait for the new pads! Great video, and thanks for providing those EQ profiles! I was wondering, have you measured the flat EQ frequency response? I'm trying to make minor adjustments to the bass profile but I'm not really sure what the specific EQ for that would be in a custom profile.
Basically I need to know how the flat EQ profile (any default Preset 1-4 config) compares to Audeze's Bass profile, and what the actual measurements are. It would also be interesting to see headphone measurements post custom EQ profiles as well.

@@maegnificant The reason I'm asking is because his first review couldn't include actual measurements of the headphones with 0db flat profile, since all the profiles seemed to measure/indicate that they were the same as the bass boost. This could have been due to software and firmware related things. Now that the software and firmware have been updated to allow a user to specify a truly flat EQ from the Maxwell's DSP, we can see what these headphones' actual measurements are.

@@nunyabidness5835 since season 4 release and the change of audio in game once again, I don’t find atmos to be that beneficial now.

Mine arrived today, unfortunately had a scratch on the metal headband, they'll send more when available. I'd take a discount as it's not horrendous. Might buy these pads because I get really hot with the stock ones. I also need to update them but don't have a pc.

On the dolby atmos app on xbox are you using game preset with performance mode on ? Or just custom 1 flat eq
Great review and for sharing your EQ presets. But for some reason my headsets have a perceived low volume.
Like if I turn up to 50% it's very low. I can crank em up to 100% and they're not deafening at all.
The only way for me to get a boost on volume is using APO config in the preamp setting to + 13 to really hear the quality.
When I do that in sound properties in windows i looked at the level meter is maxed out and I know that's not good but that's the only way I can make these headsets sound loud.
Is my headset defective or is it because of other software?
Oh yeah one more thing I do realize when I put them on after I took my the package when you press on the ear cup. Right side sounds fine nothing. But the left side I can just push it barely and it's like a crinkle if that makes sense. I'm sure it's the pressure of the air because it does it when I push it in and it went goes out.

Sounds better than dolby atmos to my ears . Spacious setting also widens the image a lot
Yeah it's a hit an miss thing, as we process the audio differently in our heads. There are so many variables at stake. I'm glad you found something you liked!
Can you show us how to use the Audeze software? For some reason, I can not seem to find a way to edit the EQ in the PC software

Will you publish presets for Equalizer APO? I prefer that software, as it boots up at the launch of windows without having to be opened.
Im guessing, by using their Hq app, the Eq will be saved on the headset which is really good. But is there a reason for wanting to switch Eq's constantly on a per game bases instead of finding a middle ground for all?

@gadgetrytech Warzone EQ works phenomenally after the update. Took no chances and used a pc to update lol. Still waiting to test the mic filtering, as I have very loud Brazilian stepkids lol
I play console and pc do you happen to have any sound profiles for sonor for the Maxwells or do you just use their proprietary app?
Not sure if it’s just me or not but I find that if I’m critically analysing the sound differences between stock cusions and the wi led cushions, I feel like I am missing some finer details with the wickeds fitted. I played around with a song and with the wickeds the ringing from the snare drum on decay seemed lost, but with stock pads retained some resonance.
I also feel that the passive sounds range seems smaller with the wickeds, I really wanted to like them but I definitely noticed a subtle difference between the 2 cushions.
It will be awesome if you could show some EQs for open world games.🙏🙏
I was thinking about it but I love the stock immersive preset so much for open world stuff! I think it comes down to personal preference after that

@@GadgetryTechis the maxwell terrible when it comes to imaging? I usually play fps on ps4 with my arctis 1 wireless and was thinking about getting the maxwell. The imaging on the arctis 1 wireless is actually pretty good so I wanted to know if the Maxwell was not worth getting since I run fps
Do you use Dolby Atmos Access in game mode on top of these eqs or keep the console in stereo ?

What other settings do you use? I’m on a Series X and have always used a tuned headset EQ and Dolby Atmos with a flat EQ with surround turned on. Is it better with performance mode?
For fps would you still choose the vzr over these with the eq changes?
Are these headphones really good at story games, or are they just footstep blasters? I have the h6pro and love the sound, but I want to have sidetone and chat mixing and im struggling with finding a dac amp or usb interface that will allow the h6pro to do that with ease and not cost as much as the h6pro cost me. I got the gsx1000 but I'm not enjoying it much and returning it.
U can change ur eq by double tapping ur volume control slider
Hey Gadgetry do you have any idea why my maxwells are making a aluminum crinkling sound with i move my head, push the power button, or put any pressure when its on my head, it does this when its on and off. I just got them the other day.
Would be cool if you could make a Hunt: Showdown EQ setting for the Maxwell. Sound in Hunt: Showdown is suuuuper important and can be the deciding factor. Also it has a pretty sophisticated sound engine and headsets should be used in stereo only as recommended by the developers, would be interesesting to see what you think about it ^^
Game doesnt matter good set of cans are good in every game. İf you need to hear footsteps reloads and stuff a generic V shape game EQ will be enough. You dont need a 300 USD gaming cans for it either. Competetive edge sound is the opposite of GOOD sound.

@GadgetryTech When I press Preset 1 Nothing happens, the eq does not show I can only choose between the ones that are already in the app on windows...
with the game/chat mix on ps5 is it best to leave on 50/50 on the app/headphone ?? and control it on the ps5 ?

I love the look of these, but the added thickness and the firmer foam density made the Maxwell uncomfortable for me with glasses. I had to return mine and go back to the stock. Just something to consider.
What version of the app are you using that has EQ? i just picked up the headset and mine does not have the EQ :(
Thank you so so much for the EQ. Has anyone experienced the crinkle noise with these and if so is there fix? I love headset but it also drives me crazy at the same time. If I slightly move my head it sounds like someone crinkling a wrapper in my ear.
Sidetone turn it off
I had that with my Penrose headset. To my understanding (that can be 100% wrong) it happens when you apply too much air pressure to the driver (?) and it somewhat breaks. To my knowledge no fix for it.
I talked with the store I bought it from, and it sounded like it wasn't covered under warranty. So that is when I stopped using my Penrose.
Seems like you need to be somewhat delicate with planer magnetic. When putting on the headset, you should never push the earpads into your head.

What does the ready preset looks like? The footsteps and competitive and the others? Im playing Naraka, Farlight 84, less and less pubg and warzone.
