Working on the FJ40 and FJ Cruiser!
I find Bullets in the ash tray, a secret key in the glove box! I also find the service records that show my Fj40 only has 77,000 Miles!

The Fj40 is going to get driven but first I need to Service the differentials, rebuild the brakes, rebuild the carburetor and a bunch of other stuff!

Nice FJ40, with that much water in the diff and rust around the hubs and brakes, I'm thinking that the hubs need new seals and bearings. It very common for the seals to wear out and let in water and mix with the oil in the diffs. It is also common for these old cruiser to have gone around the clock more then once in there life, so could have 177,000 Miles. Great work mate thanks for sharing.

Thank you for those tips! That does make sense. It could very well be 177000 miles, but looking at the service history and when it was parked has me really thinking it could be low milage. Ive been enjoying your latest travel series. looking forward to the part 3 you just uploaded!

I agree , it’s a gross messy job but relatively straightforward. I only suggest using Japanese bearings and not the cheap Chinese ones. Thanks for the interesting episode

Thank you. My daughter surprised me the other evening when she said she wanted to work in the shop with me. "But it has to be on the Land Cruiser" she said. So maybe fingers crossed I can share the passion with her too.
