Yeah, the Auto Revuenon is quite soft and has that velvety haze when shot wide open - you can clearly see that on the opening bit of footage, but I still like many of the shots taken on the Auto Revuenon. I do love some of the places that you take your shots - that riverside area is just beautiful. The Takumar lenses do often seem to be just a bit better than most of the other comparable lenses around that time.
Hi Tim, thanks for your comment. I really like the build quality of the Auto Revuenon, it's a nice lens, but the Takumar is just a little bit better. And by the way, since I know you like old engines :) That boat in the picture is the oldest steam powered tugboat in The Netherlands. It's called 'SS Furie' and was built in 1916 and is still in operation.
@@ohjajohh Coo cheers ohjajohh, and by the magic of RUclips I was able to immediately search for the SS Furie and watch footage of the engine room in action - what a beautiful thing, thanks for telling me about that.
The Auto Revuenon looks like it has a promist filter in front, the lights really bloom a lot. Oh and not all Takumar 55mm f2/f1.8 are radioactive, the later production dropped the Thorium glass.
@@ohjajohh Yes. I have three Takumar 55s, two auto-Takumars , the f2 and the f2.2, and a Super Takumar f1.8. They're all very sharp lenses. I asked the vlogger if there was documentation that Tomioka made the auto-Tak f2 and disagreed with him that film era lenses should be used with film and my comment was seemingly removed. I wonder how much difference the multicoating in the later versions makes on sharpness, but until someone does a comparative study I'll just have to wonder. All the best.
Thanks for the video. I just got the Revuenon for 20 euros. What a bargain! ✌️
good share, thank you
wow~~ good video~^^
땡큐~ ^^

Wow 👍👍👍good very good nice video
감사합니다~
Nice information 👍
Loved your editing!!!
I saw a Japanese RUclips vlog in which the vlogger claimed the auto-Takumar 55mm f2 lens is made by Tomioka.
Oh that's interesting, I've never heard of that. But the Auto Takumar is by the way different from my SMC Takumar in this video.

Why comparing 2.0 & 1.7 ???
Btw the Tak 2.0 Tak is a factory modified Tak 55 1.7 (exact same lens from same the line)...
Tak 55 is only f/1.8 not 1.7
