@@eyeofalchemy i also gat a jupiter 11 135 mm f4 but it has a M32 mount wich dos not focus to good ,sow a gat a M42 adaptor ring for it and now it fits my M42 adaptor perfectly 😁
Going bonkers on beta radiation I see!😂 But yeah, it might just be a coincidence, but many of the greatest vintage lenses ever produced were radioactive! You should check out the Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50mm f1.8, or the Enna München Lithagon 1:3.5 35mm in M42 mount!😉
Its a lovely lens and cheap as well i think i paid £40. Manual lenses make you feel like a proper photographer like you created that rather than auto focus etc.
Really enjoyed this video! I have the following pentax takumar lenses: 50mm 1.4 super multi takumar 55mm 1.8 auto takumar 55mm f2 super takumar I haven't yet used these lenses + was very interested to see how the f2 lens performed! Very impressed with your presentation, and now ex item to shoot lenses lenses! Well done guys + keep
Whoop whoop Immanuel! Really appreciated the video you guys captured some really beautiful detail. It's always interesting to see the city from different perspective.
I had like three of these lens. Honestly. I always feel like it’s an ok lens. Just ok. Nothing special about it. Wide open. It’s can’t compare to something like Nikkor 50 mm (f2 , f1.4 ) or Minolta MD 50 Watch your video make me realize. I spend to much time to pixel peeping. To little time to actually shoot. Beautiful photos , very nice video. Thank you
100%! Photography should be fun, not analyzing every single pixel haha. If if makes shooting easier, more fun or makes you feel something, I say shoot with it, even if it's just an okay lens. Heck, sometimes I shoot with awful lenses just to see what interesting things I can find!
Hi guys, Meant to say I'm excited about using these fantastic lenses! You have a wonderful way of simplifying the information, love you style! Which camera were you using? Keep well
Thanks so much! I was using a Canon M50, but when I do the video on the 50mm f1.4 I plan to use a higher resolution Fujifilm XT3 to really test the rendition of the lens
Thanks so much Brian! Photography isn't all about specs and people don't look at pictures and ask how many megapixels they are, they look at pictures and admire them for what it evokes in them! I try to provide that fresh perspective here on EOA, because that's what really matters, not specs and clinical images. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video😁 I have a few REALLY interesting videos lined up over the next couple of weeks, you might want to stay tuned👀😉 Appreciate the support, buddy!
As long as you're not sleeping with it under your pillow, you'll be okay😁 when you're not using it, store it at the far end of your house, that's my solution!
The alpha radiation given off by the thorium in the lens is about 95% absorbed by the glass itself, the rest is so minimal that it isn't harmful. These lenses are totally safe to use and travel with. They won't get picked up on any sensors at airports either. I keep one in my bag 24/7.
Might you know if the 55mm f/2 Super Tak and the 55mm f/1.8 Super Tak are dramatically different lenses or are they more alike than different? Thanks for any help you can provide.
That's a really great question! I actually plan to make a video on this, but the short answer is that they're more alike than different. Stay tuned for that video & thanks for the question, buddy!
The difference is pretty much a production year change. They are almost identical in performance minus some small things that are user preference. You won't notice the difference between f2 an f1.8 out in the field, though definitely look for the super multi coated (SMC) versions of all supertak lenses.
If you liked the Tak on an APS-c sensor, I'll bet you will love it on a full-frame sensor, being that an APS-C is a half-frame and you lose half the resolution of the top.
YES SIR!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥💯
Glad you enjoyed the video😁🤙🏽
Nice video mate just boat mine and a can't believe how sharp the photos are thes lens and is a stil at 39 £
I couldn't agree more it's such a steal for the price! Ultra sharp and packed full of character, really way worth way more than what you pay for🤯

The 55mm f2 Takumar is an amazing lens. The colours are unbelievable; even better on film.

Yeah, it pays off when you nail focus and see your results!
That lens is radioactive
100%, yet I love it so much! It's like having your own personal badass attached to the front of your camera😆
Quality stuff!
Thank you!

Better to discover it late than not at all👀 And I'm glad you enjoyed it, man!
The only thing I m'm worried about S. Takumar lenses is the radioactivity. Especially if I would use it as my main lens.
