All, I removed the hydroboost on my fully loaded silverado trim 1988 (squarebody c30) in 1 hour. The issue here is the guy doesn't have a universal joint. All of these nuts can EASILY be removed with a "3/8" Universal Drive Joint" I say this not to bash the video maker, but to let you all know that this (what I call) a 'wobbly' is essential for any youtube mechanics (such as me). Thank you for making the video! It was helpful. Pop the cruise control module out, remove the top 2 10mm bolts that hold the bracket, get a deep socket 15mm with the wobbly and extension and crank the nut out. The nut was able to be removed with my 3/8" battery powered impact no problem
So I just took this job on and your video really helped me a lot. Thanks for sharing some of the accidental approaches to the fix - made for a more entertaining video. Just one thing to add to those out there doing this - when you pull the hydrobooster out of the truck - you need to get the mounting plate (the one with the two threaded studs) off of the unit. This was a struggle for me with my limited selection of tools. I ended up tapping on the edge of the plate in the direction that the nut (roughly 2" diameter nut holding it to the plate) would travel. It only took a second to get it off once I started down that path. Good luck.
It wouldn't have been so bad if the truck hadn't been loaded from the factory. I think one of the things I had to remove was the cruise control module. It was much easier on my K20 diesel which had been stripped down.
I didn't because I never opened the brake master cylinder, just replaced the booster. Yeah, I got cut up pretty bad sticking my arm through that radio hole.
@@farmboy30117 ok thank you. I have a mystery leak after replacing my PB, and it's not coming from any hoses. Can't seem to track it down. Thought I might have forgotten a gasket between the two. I guess not.
What a pain jn the ass, can;t beleve what you had to do to get to that nut, thats why it cost so much to have it fixed at a garage, well you done a good job how much blood did you loose.
This is not that hard of a job. All you need is a long extension and a wobbly socket. You don’t have to take apart any of this other stuff at all I had to take out what’s my air conditioner tube in front of my knees

Thanks for the tip!
Had you removed the radio first, would that have been enough disassembly inside to get to that hidden nut? Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for your informative video . You are right, that one bolt is a son of a gun.

Thanks for the vid, very helpful. I just hope it work when I go back to reinstall it hahah
I hope so too!

Bout do mine right now didn't look that bad but dam it man... thanks for the video!
Haha, thanks Derrick. Just don't forget to save the piece on the hydrobooster that transfers to the new one!
Is there a gasket that mates the power booster and the master cylinder?
No, there should be no liquid between the booster and the MC.

Man!,that did look like a pain Jay.I was hoping to see how you bled the brakes.
Thanks for this, helped a lot!
Glad it helped!
Only GM would make it almost impossible to get at unless you have a second elbow.
thank you very much - this helped
You're welcome! Glad it helped!
