I ordered yesterday, and it's being delivered today. This will be my first dedicated electronic note-taking device outside of my Samsung Ultra 22 phone. My cell devices have been Samsung Note's since the Note 3 (2013). While not the same, I'm used to having the dedicated pen for note taking on it and won't even look at a phone without it. I'm really interested in the yet to be released a5x2 Supernote, but I'm hopeful this will be a good basic introduction until then. Thanks for the review! Yours and the few others on this product gave me enough confidence to take a chance on it. I'll come back and let you know what I think from a newbie user perspective on this type of device.
For some reasons Penstar likes using Rockchip's CPUs, which are definitely underpowered compare to Qualcomm's, but possibly give it a little bit more battery life. Since someone asked in the comment section: I don't have this particular device on my hand, but I do have a Penstar's lowest end e ink reader(cost roughly the same as an entry level kindle device). So far kindle Android app works perfectly.
Thanks that’s great to know! Yeah they definitely don’t have super powerful chips powering them, but so far it’s been able to do everything I’ve needed, so if it improves the battery life, it might be a good trade off! But long term use will help me know that for sure, I’ll keep all of you posted.
Not having the touch layer is an interesting choice. No problems with palm rejection! OTOH, I could see it being a minor issue when using it as an e-reader- it takes more precision to hit one of 9 small buttons instead of swiping or tapping with a finger.
24:42 is this the A6X on the left? Nice the penstar has lefty support and split screen @-@. The supernote doesn't yet support split screen (buggy if brute force with sideloaded app) but the penstar might only support thier own pen..
Outstanding review! Does anyone know if this can be used completely OFFLINE? Many companies and agencies will never allow highly confidential files to be uploaded to any cloud service under threat of immediate employment termination. That is a big deal.
That’s a great question! I just got back from being out of state, and I’ll be making some follow up videos for this product. I’m actually not positive, but I’m pretty sure it works offline, I’ll answer that for sure in the next video on it
This video was very good and very illuminating I think this is what I will be grabbing. Thank you is there any chance you might upload any videos if they provide updates like to the lasso capability and anything like that?
@@Graf-XTechReviews thank you and I don't know if the video just ended abruptly for me or if I blinked and missed it but did you test out the handwriting to text feature that would actually be the main selling point for me that and the price
When you do your complete review, it would be helpful if you could include a section about how side loading works on this device. Other than that it’s a great review.
None of them do a great job with OneNote integration. A lot of them can sync to OneDrive, but the Boox devices are the only ones that seem to have a decent ability to work in OneNote
Yeah it does ebooks pretty well. It doesn’t have a front light or anything so reading in the dark doesn’t work, but the software handles it well. I’ll be sure to show that in a future video on the device! It can also install Android apps like the kindle app so it can do a lot of reading that way
Quick question, you mentioned that it’s possible to install the Kindle app, with the brighter paper is it easier to read ebooks on then on the Kindle Scribe? Also, is there handwriting to text?
I’ll get back to you on the reading of Kindle books. I haven’t actually installed that app yet, but when I do, I’ll let you know or make a follow up video on it. As far as handwriting to text, yes it absolutely has that and it works pretty well!
I don’t think I ever claimed it was better than reMarkable. It is a whiter screen though, that’s objectively true. Do you have some problem with the way I do things? I don’t think this device is garbage, but I’m not saying that it’s perfect for everyone. Again, this is more of a first impressions and introduction to the device, not a full and complete review. If you have more constructive criticism, I’d love to hear it, but let’s not say negative things just for the sake of being negative.

Thanks I appreciate that! Even just sharing the channel with your friends and family could help! I do my best to have great quality content!
Once again, great review. I didn't know about this device until I watched the Remarkable Paper Pro review. You are doing an awesome job.
Thank you, I think this product is flying under the radar for a lot of people. Definitely spread the word if you’re able!

Awesome! I’m glad you are ordering yours! Definitely keep me updated and I’ll keep posting more content on it for everyone as well
@@Graf-XTechReviews Will do! Received a few hours ago and plan to get acquainted with it over the next few days.
I bought one because of this, love it so far.
That’s awesome! Glad you like it! I have more videos going even deeper on the device as well coming soon!
sir, when are you going to get the finished review on here.. ??? can't wait 😲 keep up the great work !!!
It’s a work in progress I promise! I’ve had lots of projects all at once and I moved recording locations, but it should be soon!
Really amazing review , thanks anyway I prefer supernote for the software .
Yeah I think I am partial to their software too, but it is a very interesting device!

I just got one! For me, the extra "whiteness" of the screen is worth the lack of touch screen.
Sweet! Let me know how that goes! If you have anything you want me to test, let me know that too!

Yeah it’s true, it definitely was its ups and downs and will depend on what you use the device for
Great review! If you wanted to share live drawings or notes to a virtual meeting, could you do screen casting to a PC?
I believe it had some kind of screen casting, but I’m not sure about casting to a PC, I’ll check on that and get back to you
24:42 is this the A6X on the left?
Nice the penstar has lefty support and split screen @-@. The supernote doesn't yet support split screen (buggy if brute force with sideloaded app) but the penstar might only support thier own pen..
Yeah the split screen is a nice option, but yes the penstar only supports their own pen, I’ll have a more full review on the eNote coming soon!

@@Graf-XTechReviews Many thanks!
This video was very good and very illuminating I think this is what I will be grabbing. Thank you is there any chance you might upload any videos if they provide updates like to the lasso capability and anything like that?
Yes definitely! This is far from my last video on this device! Plenty more to come! And if I see any updates I’ll definitely let you know
@@Graf-XTechReviews thank you and I don't know if the video just ended abruptly for me or if I blinked and missed it but did you test out the handwriting to text feature that would actually be the main selling point for me that and the price
I didn’t test that in that video, but I definitely will on my next video with this device!
@@Graf-XTechReviews It's going to be amazing thank you

Sounds good! I was planning on that and definitely will include that!
Excellent review.
Thanks! I’m glad it helped!
Can other styluses be used on this device?
No, only the stylus that it comes with, this is a pretty big downside actually
So if you lose the stylus, it's a brick? Great review, though!
Technically, the buttons can be programmed to navigate the device, but yeah that is a risk
Thanks for the review. I'm starting to look at eink devices more and more lately. Do you know if any of these take notes in and sync with OneNote?
None of them do a great job with OneNote integration. A lot of them can sync to OneDrive, but the Boox devices are the only ones that seem to have a decent ability to work in OneNote
Thanks for letting me know.
Of course!
Can you use it for general reading of e-books, manga and how is the experience?
Yeah it does ebooks pretty well. It doesn’t have a front light or anything so reading in the dark doesn’t work, but the software handles it well. I’ll be sure to show that in a future video on the device! It can also install Android apps like the kindle app so it can do a lot of reading that way

If they make a version with carta 1300 i may buy one
That’s a good suggestion! I do think that would be the cherry on top for sure!
what if you lose your pen?? can you use your tongue?
You can program the buttons to navigate the device if that’s a concern of yours, but yes losing the pen is definitely a concern to be aware of.
what a piece of garbage this device is and by presenting that is better than Remarkable common!!!!
I don’t think I ever claimed it was better than reMarkable. It is a whiter screen though, that’s objectively true. Do you have some problem with the way I do things? It’s a very nice device. I own one. Why is it garbage ? Do you own one?
