I've played that game, finished it like 2times, and it isn't really bad. I even enjoyed the racing challenges. Even though I played through it at least twice, I didn't really know what's going on but damn it is fun to use his powers and get that unbreakable vengeance combo. It's kinda like gow, dmc, and mario cart all in 1.
It was a great Game. It had similar Gameplay, but was more "Marvel Ultimate Avengers 1" with only one character. It was a lot deeper than God of War with much better gameplay.

And Thor sounds like he's going to (potentially) get half his face burned off by a Penguin because Bruce Banner saved Black Widow instead of him. And Captain America ALSO sounds like he's going to fight Zombies..... twice! (For those who don't get the references: Bruce Banner is Troy Baker, who is in basically everything. Black Widow is Laura Bailey, who is also in basically everything, especially everything with Troy Baker. Thor is Travis Willingham, who was Two-Face in Telltale's Batman, which had Troy Baker and Laura Bailey. I wasn't aware of it either until two weeks ago. I also wasn't expecting to like it based on description, but its a strangely wild mess that I actually enjoyed.
In "The Fifth Element", the developers couldn't use the facial likeness of Bruce Willis for some costful reason. The game's protagonist look differently + they even had to cut his scenes from the in game videos that were taken from the movie. Interestingly, all the other actors are represented relatively closely in the game.

Not a face, but a voice: For the initial release of Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force (preemo shooter, by the way) all of the Voyager cast did the voices for their characters, except Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine). IIRC there was a licensing conflict at the heart of this. This was fixed in the first patch though.

Buried at least in MY deep and repressed memories, there are multiple times that I frantically button-mashed to overcome some overpowering obstacle, only to realize that the game had changed seamlessly into a cut scene, leaving me embarrassed in the lurch.
Thank you so much for revealing the existence of the From Dusk Till Dawn game to me. I was laughing wildly at the utter absurdity of how unrelated to the film it was for that whole segment. My life is richer knowing this game exists.

I'm so glad they secured the likeness to Ghost Rider. Honestly though it's an easy fix to not have to get the likeness of an actor of the character of the character transforms. Just like Disney or whoever makes the games based on the Avengers don't actually need the approval of Ruffalo for the Hulk. Banner yes but the game could just have the Hulk only or smart Hulk.

I never like the idea of using actor likeness, the idea of a story is to disregard reality and enjoy the world around you. Spending half your budget on faces means the game takes a big hit and this is why I hate tie in games
I didn't know about WIlly's Wonderland until seeing this video, and after watching 20 minutes of it I 100% understand why Cage decided to do it. edit: finished it. It is a perfect nicolas cage film. The world would be a worse place without it. Unlike that Ghost Rider game.
I remember spending a long time on the level with all the glass walls across multiple floors, and the cheat that let you press a trigger button to ragdoll yourself. fun times.

Not really. If you look at any avengers comics or cartoons you can absolutely see that the 2020 game tried their hardest to imitate the movies. There's decades of designs they could have used, but nope. And excluding Kamala Khan the Avengers group are the movie ones (because that's who the general audience recognizes. Wouldn't wanna confuse people by being too different from the movies)

i just finished the Jurassic World game and experienced the opposite. They used chris pratt and bryce dallas howard's photos for the characters but hired a different voice actor for them. i think they blew the voice over budget for Jeff Goldblum.

I would have added Reservoir Dogs to this list; the concept of the game was solid; getting to play through the heist that you don't see in the movie...What was less solid was that only two of the characters even vaguely resembled/sounded like their celluloid counterparts...The game was delayed as well, making it a little more painful than it should have been XD
Not technically full tie in games, but tie in Chapters- Dead by Daylight has done this multiple times. Laurie Strode in the Halloween Chapter looks like a bootleg Jamie Lee Curtis, Quentin from the Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter looks nothing like Kyle Gallner, and David Tapp from the Saw Chapter looks way younger and nothing like Danny Glover. Ash vs. Evil Dead was a direct tie-in so we see Bruce Campbells likeness and even voice in game- and Netflix was really open with the Stranger Things chapter and let the team at BHVR do a lot with it. Pretty sure Netflix even gave them the CG model of the Demogorgon that they use in the show, and encouraged them to make a unique cosmetic for it.
I haven't played the Fight Club game, so Idk if this is a failure on the part of the game or OX, but Edward Norton's character is officially named Sebastian. This was not the case during the release of the movie or in the original novel, but has been retconned into the universe in Fight Club 2.
These companies should've thought outside the box. "we can use that actor's likeness? Fine." -finds a professional impersonator of each of them. Pay them a much smaller amount to use THEIR likeness-.

I was 11 when Fight Club came out, I've never seen it, that's the first time it's ever been spoiled for me. I'm impressed.

I’m sorry, but Willy’s Wonderland is a very fun movie. Campy and absurd and fun. Nic Cage is living his best life right now. He also was in Color Out of Space which was really good.

I'm so glad they secured the likeness to Ghost Rider. Honestly though it's an easy fix to not have to get the likeness of an actor of the character of the character transforms. Just like Disney or whoever makes the games based on the Avengers don't actually need the approval of Ruffalo for the Hulk. Banner yes but the game could just have the Hulk only or smart Hulk.

I never like the idea of using actor likeness, the idea of a story is to disregard reality and enjoy the world around you. Spending half your budget on faces means the game takes a big hit and this is why I hate tie in games
If I were a Hollywood star I would let them put me in just about any game if only so people are constantly reminded that I exist.
Unfortunately, it is not always entirely up to the actor. Agencies, managers, studios and producers also have a say.
Avengers isn't a "movie game," really. It's a comic book game with its own universe and has very little to do with the MCU.

Not really. If you look at any avengers comics or cartoons you can absolutely see that the 2020 game tried their hardest to imitate the movies. There's decades of designs they could have used, but nope. And excluding Kamala Khan the Avengers group are the movie ones (because that's who the general audience recognizes. Wouldn't wanna confuse people by being too different from the movies)

i just finished the Jurassic World game and experienced the opposite. They used chris pratt and bryce dallas howard's photos for the characters but hired a different voice actor for them. i think they blew the voice over budget for Jeff Goldblum.

I would have added Reservoir Dogs to this list; the concept of the game was solid; getting to play through the heist that you don't see in the movie...What was less solid was that only two of the characters even vaguely resembled/sounded like their celluloid counterparts...The game was delayed as well, making it a little more painful than it should have been XD
Not technically full tie in games, but tie in Chapters- Dead by Daylight has done this multiple times. Laurie Strode in the Halloween Chapter looks like a bootleg Jamie Lee Curtis, Quentin from the Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter looks nothing like Kyle Gallner, and David Tapp from the Saw Chapter looks way younger and nothing like Danny Glover.
Ash vs. Evil Dead was a direct tie-in so we see Bruce Campbells likeness and even voice in game- and Netflix was really open with the Stranger Things chapter and let the team at BHVR do a lot with it. Pretty sure Netflix even gave them the CG model of the Demogorgon that they use in the show, and encouraged them to make a unique cosmetic for it.
I haven't played the Fight Club game, so Idk if this is a failure on the part of the game or OX, but Edward Norton's character is officially named Sebastian. This was not the case during the release of the movie or in the original novel, but has been retconned into the universe in Fight Club 2.
