one thing to consider is the krabby was the only one with unmelted cheese, i personally find cheese has a stronger flavour before being melted so could see that effecting why you tasted the cheese so much more
Yeah, and the Google burger has the cheese drooping downwards, as if it wasn't melted atop the burger on the grill, then flipped, but simply placed below the burger, and melted a little by residual heat. And honestly, none of the pictures have cheese that look as melted as in these tests, so I think the way to go would be to have put it on unmelted.
@@andreiandrei1939 I do like cheese above and below. Melt the cheese atop the hamburger no the grill, then flip it over when you put it on the bun and place another piece of cheese atop the hamburger, to melt a bit from residual heat. If you're not getting enough cheese flavor, maybe you just aren't using enough cheese.
"Table Wiggle Test" Expectation: Matt and Steph will wiggle the table, simulating someone bumping into the side or bottom of the table. Reality: Matt and Steph both violently yank the tablecloth in each directions
Can we just talk about how wholesome and adorable Matt Pat and Steph are together One of the reasons I like this channel so much is because they have fun while doing their videos!
It's starting to get creepy how perfectly applicable Matpats videos are for my life. I literally started to learn how to make my own burgers last night and the burger kept making my bread way too soggy and would not stop falling apart. Matt, you have no idea how much your content means to me. I take my burgers seriously!
One reason why the Google and Apple burgers tasted like less might be pallet fatigue: you’ve tasted so much and are starting to feel full, so you’re being rewarded less for tasting more in order to stop at some point. This is also a thing in tasting coffee or wine; that’s why wine or coffee tasters spit out the beverage (and also to not get drunk).
@@ZerefGaming11 who even get's drunk on wine? You'd have to drink the entire bottle on your own and you'd only be somewhat tipsy. I think spitting it out is just a waste of good wine.
Interesting theory. I do think keeping the cheese a little bit away from the patty and bun is better though. The distance makes more contrast and in turn increases the flavor detected. The Apple hat's score is compromised, so that's a no go as well. I will only be using the Whopper, Krabby-Samsung, and my own control burger in my experiment(s).
At the end, where you were putting salmon with lemon slices in your traeger, I would suggest putting the lemons on the bottom to make it easier to pick up after cooking. Also, you can cure your salmon and smoke it at 150 for an hour to make more of a smoked salmon. I have a recipe I am more than happy to share :). Thanks for the entertainment all these years.
I personally agree with "Apple stack" though the WhatsApp/Ramsay stack is also pretty good. Lettuce on the bottom bun totally helps with the slipping and preventing soggy buns
I imagine the structure problems could be partially resolved with a less precarious shape. Their patties looked thick with a smaller diameter and the onions were cut really thick, too. A shorter, wider sandwich would probably be more optimized in my opinion.
Completely agree. I've personally taken to adding more, thinner slices of onions in my burgers, and I cut the ring in half as well, to avoid getting a huge slice in one bite that just overpowers everything.
The thickness of their slices annoyed me so much lmao. Like if you and your family/dinner guests enjoy that then fine, but the patty, onion, and tomato thickness caused probably 60% of the structural integrity issues. Thin, even slices are hard sure, but just use a slicer or something lol
What I'm getting from this is that the burger is SUPPOSED to break apart in your mouth, that's why the Krabby-Samsung with many loose parts tasted the best. The stable burgers made the burger stable even in your mouth... and what's on top and bottom that's contacting most of your tastebuds? The bread. The fact that they were taking BIG bites exacerbated this effect as the burger had less room to move around in the mouth.
If Santa eats milk and the cookies every Christmas since he started, depending on the factors such as house numbers, cookie numbers and residents etc. How many calories has he gained?
Say Santa visits 396 million houses (number I got from Google) and each house puts out 3 standard chocolate chip cookies and 1 cup of milk (8 ounces) for Santa. Now lets assume that each cookie is about 80 calories, and each glass of milk is about 103 calories. Now, obviously this is super duper generalized so, take this estimate with a huge grain of salt, but using that information, I'd say Santa would probably consume around 135,828,000,000 calories on Christmas night every year.
Due to texture issues, I have, I can only eat burgers with cheese. I plan to slowly add lettuce to it, but... That's it. It's really great to watch other people enjoy foods that I can't!!! I love this channel so much!!!
just want to say that for the ramsay burger, you should have followed his advice. i remember seeing the video you showed, and assuming i remember right, he toasted the bottom bun so that it wouldnt absorb the liquids as easily. therefore it could deserve a better structural integrity score than you gave it.
They aren't making Gordon Ramseys burger, they are using that stacking style. Therefore, they aren't going to give on burger special add ons the rest don't have.
It’s a shame that the findings of the Mythical Kitchen RE toasted vs untoasted bun were not put into consideration here. I feel like that contributes greatly to the slippage.
A super easy way to test out the difference staking order makes at home/at the burger joint (if you don't want to cook/order mutliple burgers) is to just take a bite of your favourite burger, then turn it upside down take another a bite. The difference is probably going to be really noticable.
Imagine launching a restaurant where every patty has the exact same ingredients, just shuffled differently, at the exact same price. I'd make it the whole point of the thing too, with infographics on the menu and walls, and each burger's name would be just a number, maybe ranked in the chef's order of taste.
having a grill is said to make you have your final dad form, but the secret final form is finding out what order to put together your grilled burgers in. also I remember spongebob's "I CAN'T PUT A PATTY ON A BUN WITH LETTUCE CHEESE UNIONS TOMATO KETCHUP MUSTARD PICKLE AND TOP BUN TOGETHER IN THAT ORDER!"
Just started working at Red Robin and was confused on why they put 2 slices of cheese on their burgers, but it really does make a difference in its flavor! I thought I was crazy for never tasting cheese but these guys had similar comments
I am actually very intrigued by this since I am currently working at a McDonald's, and we stack our burgers from crown (top bun) to heel (bottom bun). The order goes, for a hamburger, crown, ketchup, mustard, pickles, patty, heel. The cheeseburger is the same but between pickles and patty is a slice of cheese. McDouble goes crown, ketchup, mustard, pickle, patty, cheese, patty, heel; double cheeseburger has a second slice of cheese between the pickle and patty; filet goes crown, tartar sauce, fish, a half slice of cheese, heel; McChicken is crown, mayonnaise, lettuce, chicken, heel; crispy goes crown, butter, pickles, crispy chicken, heel; deluxe crispy is crown, mayo, lettuce, tomato, crispy chicken, heel. The Big Mac is a very different preparation order. We set the crown upside down in the top of the box, the heel rightside up in the bottom of the box, and set the club (the middle bun) atop the crown. Then we put the Big Mac sauce on both the heel and the club, then we do the same with lettuce, placing it on both the heel and the club, atop the mac sauce. On the heel, we then add the slice of cheese, while on the club we add pickles, then we add the patty. Now comes the slightly awkward part, most of the burgers and sandwiches can just have the untouched bun flipped onto the rest of the sandwich, but that isn't what ahppens with the Big Mac. Instead, at this point, the club section is lifted and placed onto the heel, again, without being flipped, then the crown is flipped on top of the whole thing. I'm sure anyone who even loosely studies the stack order of a Big Mac already knows this in some capacity, and it's probably addressed in this video. Premature comment out of the way, now to watch. Premature comment edit time! I like to add crinkle cut pickles (the ones you find on a regular and the spicy McCrispy, not the ones used on burgers) to my Deluxe McCrispy. I also add ketchup onto the heel, which I dare not tell my boss, who thinks that combining chicken and ketchup is sacrilege and heresy. My ideal sandwich is artisan potato crown, mayonnaise, lettuce, crinkle cut pickles, roma tomatoes, a crispy chicken patty, ketchup, then artisan potato heel. We shall see if my preferences or my work instruction match up with the conclusion. Watching the taste test segment explains something about my enjoyment of the Deluxe McCrispy despite not liking the flavor of tomatoes. The tomato is masked by the chicken along with the ketchup that I add.

@@bananaboi9006 Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of us that really dislikea lot on the burger. I'm eating the burger for the juicy meaty goodness, not the plants. I do add some lettuce for the bit of texture and such, and mayo to keep a bit more moisture and flavor into the burger, but otherwise meat and cheese.
It's honestly interesting how big of a difference there is with the flavor when you stack the ingredients. For someone who studies cooking/baking, these are really informative.
Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.. There is no difference or there shouldn't be if you have all the same ingredients at the same ratio. What should have been measured and only measured in this video is the stability and integrity of the burger when being eaten. That's it.
I think it's pretty funny, that most people disagree that different orders of toppings changes the taste. I remember working at a restaurant, and making burgers all the time just so I could eat them right-side up, AND upside down. It most definitely makes a difference.

I didn’t even know that wood pellet grills were a thing. I’m assuming they run on the same kind of pellets as a pellet furnace? If so, that’s genius: they found a way to sell people wood pellets in the off-season.
Depends on what kind of pellets you're selling, most of the time pellet grills are used for smoking meat so hickory, and fruit woods are popular. I'm not sure what pellet furnaces use since I've never used one.
@@grtech2011 I wasn’t necessarily suggesting that the furnaces and the grills were fueled by the exact same pellets. I was thinking more in terms of the manufacturing process. These companies are probably using the same machines and/or the same materials to make both kinds of pellets. The grill pellets might have flavor infused into them that the furnace ones don’t, but I can’t imagine that the manufacturing process is much (if any) different.
I mean…. I do believe Traeger grills invented the pellet grill, though as for the pellets they do have to be food grade and can’t just be normal wood pellets as it’ll throw off the flavor.
@@heldscissors4132 Of course they have to be food grade. Again, I’m just saying that they probably use the same machines to make them. By “kind of pellets”, I didn’t mean that people were really throwing the exact same pellets into both. Perhaps the word I should have used was “type”. You don’t need to throw hickory into a furnace and pine would make your food taste like crap, but the machine that makes both is probably the same or at least very similar.

I just have a random question did the video called “I quit Diet Coke” cause him to actually stop drinking Diet Coke and instead get that one soda from Harris Teeter, MatPat if you see this please tell me it’s been on my mind ever since that video
He said in some livestream, that yes, he does drink the HT, but is kinda hard to get, when he is away from his house, and also, MatPat drinking DietCoke is kinda a "trademark" of him, something that he is known for, and for that business standpoint or something is a bit harder to quit. Pro tip - if you're constructing a burger anticipating a high degree of stability issues, you need to lightly toast your bun. Just enough to create a crust for structural integrity. This is a critical step in the Ramsay burger, for example. Food for thought. ...Bonus tip - "Food for thought" should be a catchphrase on this channel.
“The whatsapp Ramsay’s bottom bun is mush” well of course it is Matt, you have to grill the bun itself. Not only does this give a little crunch, it creates a barrier to keep it from getting soggy. (In all seriousness though, loving the vids man)
Ramsay also used less condiment so it wasn't soggy and slippery. He didn't need lots since he had it on both the top and bottom. Which is close to what I would do which is grill the bun, put on Sriracha sauce and brown mustard on then prior to putting anything else on put the but together and twist them back and forth to work it into both the top and bottom of the bun.
im glad im no the only one who clearly noticed the marks of him toasting the bun (I love doing it it does a lot for me) i also want to point the size of their burger to bun ratio was wrong. stability starts with the bun/burger, if your bun is smaller or same size as your burger it won't hold
This is very interesting! I worked for Burger King years ago and corporate required all the toppings to go on the burgers in a very specific order. If you strayed away from their order you got written up. As a teen I thought they were just crazy and controlling. I haven't given it a thought since, but finding the real reason why stacking correctly does matter, makes a lot more sense then my ignorant teenage theory😕
Something worth mentioning about traegers is that they actually skirt around more HOA and apartment rules about wood fire grills because of the way the fire is contained, so you can usually get one even if you wouldn't normally be able to use a wood fire grill or smoker.
Another thing worth mentioning is that the least expensive option is $1200 USD before shipping, taxes, and any addons you may want so you're definitely paying for that cheesy-named wi-fire feature as well as the apparently unusual way the fire is contained for wood-fire grilling.
@@HopeinSpades bro, the first result on Google is 69.99. you need to do some better research. I don't think it has the wifi option, but it does still have a remote, and equally good temp controls. The problem with the cheese and not being able to taste it, is if your melting it on the burger, you should double-cheese it; otherwise it becomes overwhelmed with the juice of the burger. With the exemption of a double burger which would work with triple (you decide whether the 2 go in between or on top.
It's not a desirable cheese burger unless you allow the cheese to hamoginise with the meat and to ultimately become one my friend that's the MOST important part to me. If you can't taste the cheese due to this method, your cheese isn't strong enough (taste wise) a SHARP cheddar is a MUST!
That's why you don't use plastic cheese squares, you use real cheese, more importantly, you use smoked swiss cheese, as it melts it infuses with the flavours of the burger

This is not as wrong and strange as it sounds. Upside down and you are getting everything in reverse order. That and the thicker top bun don't fall apart as quick as the thin lower bun
I do that too sometimes for the same reason. The only thing is that it just feels weird to eat that way lol. Like the top bun is usually dome-shaped and the bottoms is a uniform disc, so it just doesn't feel right goin' in my face lol.

In TX, there's a fast food chain called Whataburger, I typically get just a plain cheeseburger (yes, I know, boring), and they always put the cheese beneath the patty. Not only can you taste the cheese more, I think it also helps to keep the cheese from sticking to the roof of your mouth.
I can never get the cheese to melt when cooking veggie burgers. Probably because there's no juice or something. So I always put the cheese on bottom to melt it a bit that way.

one thing to consider is the krabby was the only one with unmelted cheese, i personally find cheese has a stronger flavour before being melted so could see that effecting why you tasted the cheese so much more
Yes it's obviously a huge difference, too bad they didn't take it into account!
Personally i think having unmelted cheese on a burger is a sin, so the KP burger is instantly disqualified for me.
For me, a cheese burger with cheese under AND below the paddy. Yummy

Why testers spit it out so they don't get drunk? I find that so weird. Who doesn't enjoy being drunk? Especially being drunk on wine.
because the job is to taste not get drunk. yeah sure being drunk is enjoyable but not in every scenario

Exactly.
Poor stupid Plankton. 🤣
I've personally taken to adding more, thinner slices of onions in my burgers, and I cut the ring in half as well, to avoid getting a huge slice in one bite that just overpowers everything.
at least one of the tomato slices was huge too, like an inch thick
Yeah everything they had was way too thick and not wide enough they forgot to press their patty
The thickness of their slices annoyed me so much lmao. Like if you and your family/dinner guests enjoy that then fine, but the patty, onion, and tomato thickness caused probably 60% of the structural integrity issues. Thin, even slices are hard sure, but just use a slicer or something lol
THICK PATTY IS SUPERIOR PATTY.
You are, just… 👏
That's actually brilliant. Excellent analysis!

You’ve been fooled that’s what he wants you to do. Never trust what he says.

I'd say it's more that the taste *profile* changes as opposed to the actual taste.

The grill pellets might have flavor infused into them that the furnace ones don’t, but I can’t imagine that the manufacturing process is much (if any) different.
ruclips.net/video/-RAglyw6ySk/видео.html

This is an excellent comment in both regards! Thank you!
Both are good ideas. I'm going to incorporate that into my own burger stack experiments.
“The whatsapp Ramsay’s bottom bun is mush” well of course it is Matt, you have to grill the bun itself. Not only does this give a little crunch, it creates a barrier to keep it from getting soggy. (In all seriousness though, loving the vids man)
Also Ramsay
Come on Donkey you didn’t make my burger right
Yup, toasting buns is a game changer.

@@jaycuthbert245 Yes, SHARP CHEDDER is the ONLY cheese that can go on a cheeseburger
Can you use two different cheeses
@@hinata167 Yes, but some cheeses might compliment each other better than others. But it can turn out great.
The Appel hat got 17😂 (love your videos)
This video just should've been matpat saying "HA, you'll never get me secret formuler" and then ending the video.
Good idea
That’s a great idea
🤔
“Our udders are full, milk us”
lowkey really need a Food Theory poster with that slogan ASAP 😂
That’s what she sa- actually I am a mature human being so I won’t say it
THATS WHAT SHE SAID
I just want a google image of cows which says that in impact font
I reacted just like Stephanie I cringed so hard 😆
Yea
Agreed. But I'm too poor to buy it lol
"Mayo on the top bun"- Wisest quote ever said
Thats wild😂 i was measuring something for a project and said no, then matt said no? Right after it😂😂😂😂
Let's be honest Mat literally radiates american dad energy to the point where the only thing stopping him from going pro dad is the channel
And the several cripling debt he aquired buying all the fnaf games and books

-Is Cereal a Soup?
-How to get the best bang for your buck at a buffet.
-What is the most cost effective way to preserve food (Salt it, Dehydrate it, or Freeze Dry it)?
YES! 🙌🏻
@3 Also smoking it, and then smoking before those three.
1. yes
3. ALL OF IT
Cereal is not a soup, AND NEITHER IS THE OCEAN!!!
1. no soup is boiled or at least heated you don’t heat cereal do you?
I personally like the whataburger version: bottom bun, mustard, patty, cheese, mustard, lettuce, mustard, mustard, tomato, mustard, top bun
8:25 I think that has to do more with Mr. Krabs' bussines practices than Spongebob's burger making skills.
You saw that episode too
I wish you would've made a new burger combining all the best elements of the burgers
Yes this would have made for a really good ending
You know when matpat starts becoming the ultimate dad when he sponsors a grill company
What
your matpat is evolving
you mean the grill company sponsored him
Matpat sponsoring a grill company would be mat paying to have the food theory logo slapped on their grills
Bottom bun, mayo, patty, 4 pickles, onion, lettuce, tomato, top bun. Boom 💥 ( also you can choose if you would like to toast your bun a LITTLE bit) try that one
I would sometimes eat burgers upside down because they would taste better that way lol
I do that to!
you just got on 382 lists from 59 countrys around the world just now
100 like:)
It's hard to take matpats "serious" face serious knowing he's both a dad and makes so much weird/funny videos
I mean just consider the reality that Mat and Steph have had dead serious, unfunny, voices-raised fights. It's impossible to imagine, but guaranteed it happens.
@@devinbelver7124 put the cheese on while they're still cooking about a minute before they're done and don't use fake oily cheese because it's melting point is a million degrees 🍔
devin belver veggie burgers lol
@MASON GRAVES Enormous as in wide or thick, or both? Where I get them, the patties are like 1/2 in. thick; which I actually prefer, less grease.
As someone who hasn't ate in almost a week and am about to get a burger im coming back to this video to see the best way to enjoy it

New theory: The krabby patties secret formula is just the order they put on the toppings. The krabby patty earned the mostpoints in taste.
it's just a marketing gimmick.
I personally enjoy a messy burger so I'm rather excited to try the Krabby stack lol
