I gave the PI a chance. There was just a sense to me that they were scamming me at every turn. I looked at Condo's that were not very nice and smelled like mold. They wanted 2 months deposit. Which is a scam. and they were overpriced for what they were. I felt very comfortable in Thailand and did not run into these problems.

Definitely Thailand has better Condos and it's more modern in the larger tourist areas. Easy to get medicine at local pharmacies.

So true. No scammers and lots of people speak English in Thailand too so it's a good destination for retirement.

Good interview Mike. Like calvin I did a few recon visits and arrive permanently next week. Philippines really is a great place to retire and so much about attitude, having good health, good relationships, and of course well planned sufficient income. Your guest checks that off.
Mike, will probably bump into you again soon. Cheers

Hi may be able to help you Calvin with something. I am 6'7 and where size 14 shoes when i have not found anywhere for 2 years in the malls. I'm in the peninsula over by san carlos which is in negros occidental they have some things here in bacolod and some other cities called oki oki. America and other countries make donations to the poor countries and send bulk clothes and everything. I was able to pick up three pairs of size 14 new balance and sketchers shoes m size 2x tall shirts. The shoes were p150 $3 each pair. These are not fakes. Good luck to you thank you for the interview. You don't need to waste your money to cross over to Bohol for the white sandy beach because Cebu has a lot more white sandy beaches with more beautiful and bluer turquoise water. Some foreigners opt to hop over to Bohol from Cebu City for the beach simply because it's quicker but they actually spend more just by traveling alone. Geeting to Panglao's white sand beach from the Tagbilaran port cost a lot more for a very uncomfortable tricycle ride. Cebu has Bantayan Island and Malapascua Island if they want white sandy beach but less costly and less crowded but more beautiful and longer stretched of white sandy beach. Plus they get the opportunity to explore the entire Bantayan island via scooter or motorbike crisscrossing its scenic and lush country roads, mostly well-paved.

An addition to my previous comment.
I noticed also that Calvin stated that his birthday is on August, like mine,..so he must be a "Leo" like myself.😅
I also agree with you Mike when you said that it's better when go to live in the Philippines has younger has you can,.. therefore you can do severall things and get around better, obviously.
Myself,..I'm "waiting" for a couple more years before I can retire so I can "join" you guys there.
