    You should figure out a torture test on the rider gear just to see how they actually hold up.

    Just a note for ya if you ever wanna check your pre load , put a zip tie on your fork tube tight to the bottom lightly tensioned and then sit on your bike , get off your bike and you will se the amount of preload you have , you can reset ziptie and adjust your clicks from there

    Looks like a good option to the Merlin Axe riding shirt which is more of a jacket. Merino wool base layer, heated vest, one of these riding flannels and I’m good to ride in 40-50 degrees for a few hours. I don’t have a fairing so it’s full blast at the chest. Peace of mind while riding is important!

    John, as far as sizing, what do you recommend? Same size as your normal shirts? What if you want to wear it as a jacket...same size or size up?

  • @SloRider22
    @SloRider22 11 месяцев назад +4

    Great video John I always rock gear when i ride. If i ride without a jacket in the summer it just doesn't feel right. Like you said you never know what can happen. Most of my gear even has the body armor for extra layer of protection. Ride safe everyone and get home safe that's what it about.

    Just ordered a pair of beyond riders jeans with $10 off with ur code...would be nice if it was 10% off which is what I thought 💭 initially but it is what it is and 10bucks is 10bucks thnx for the info and when I get them and use them (hopefully not in a fall!) I’ll send you my thoughts 💭

    I started wearing those First Mfg jeans. Got one pair to try to see if they feel like regular jeans where I could get 2-3
    Pairs and just wear em as my regular jeans. Which I’ve done.
    Without those pads in they feel like heavier jeans.
    Ill check out beyond riders brand but First been on point hard with anything I’ve gotten from them.

    What's your winter gloves? I have heated grips and used mechanix gloves when it was 36 out. My thumbs took forever to thaw out.

    All good info. Just a quick question as I can't seem to find a reference to it, what about the heated gear? I've heard you mention it in a couple of videos, but it's not named or listed in your gear. Care to share what you use?

    Always rock the gear!! Beyond Rider looks looks they sell quality stuff. I would hope they would work after paying $160+ for a pair of jeans. I know you go down and they do their job it’s worth every penny but still, ouch!!

    Ok, I totally agree with you on protection and I always gear up. But I need to call you out cause I watched your video 2 months ago of you picking up your Son’s first bike. You said it was a 1/2 hour ride home and lo and behold you were wearing shorts and a tee shirt! I remember at the time thinking that was not a good example for your new riding Son. Shame on you Bud.

    • @CYCLEFANATIX
      @CYCLEFANATIX  11 месяцев назад +1

      👍 the video may have been that long, but the ride home is about 10 minutes, and the middle of summer. But definitely practice what you preach. 👊

    • @waynesiminski8268
      @waynesiminski8268 11 месяцев назад +1

      You commented in the video that you had a 30 minute ride home. I didn’t make that up. Watch it again. No biggie, but yes. If you gonna say it, you gotta do it. 👊🏻 And like you said yourself in the last video, don’t matter how long the ride is cause you don’t know what boneheads are just around the corner. Keep safe Bud.

    I’m wearing Cortech and Scorpion kevlar-lined jeans, and they say that regular jeans will wear through to skin in under 10 feet on pavement. They claim that their kevlar-lined jeans will slide 110 feet before wearing through.

    I was wearing a $1,400 Dainese leather suit, gloves and boots when I simply lowsided and slid off what I thought was a small embankment that turned into a 45’ foot drop after I hit a tree and hit every limb as I was falling down it. Not a scratch on me, but I broke 38 bones and paralyzed me from arms down. It’s not the slide that kills you, it’s the sudden stop that will get you.

    • @dondasher58
      @dondasher58 11 месяцев назад

      Wow man sorry to hear that. 38 bones? My god man you took a beating 😳…we’re you conscious the entire time? No doubt there is an element of (good or bad) luck involved in many things that we can’t prepare for. My recent accident was also over into a ravine. I ended up with a broken C2 vertebrae no broken bones but plenty of cuts and bruises. I was knocked out for a few minutes and woke up looking at the sky. My recovery was in a C Collar for 3 months but doing pretty good now. I was extremely lucky considering what happened to me. I’m cautious now and been on a bike again for about a month…accident was in June.

    Gear is easy at this time of year, its in the heat that most riders fail to protect themselves. I have Kevlar mesh gear that I wear when its an oven out there and I always wear a helmet(even here in CT where we have no helmet required law).

    Thank you for a video like that. Here in Germany I also see many Harley riders (mostly harley riders) riding their bike, dressed like a hippster. With skinny jeans (of course in a "vintage look" with large holes or tears above the knee), Sneakers, a t-shirt and maybe a hoodie. I always ride in protectiv gear. When it gets very warm (and it doesn't get really hot here very often) I put on jeans and a flannel with kevlar linning. Otherwise always riding gear with proper protection.
