Personally I'd be fine with a combo of heated grips and the heated jacket to reduce the amount of gear. The core of our body is the most important part to keep warm, which then will pump out blood to heat arms and legs. When we are really cold to the core of our body we tend to tighten our muscles and that reduces blood flow, and will make hands and feet especially to become cold. I've never felt the need for heating my feet while on a motorcycle, and it would be good to use exisiting gloves, as well as avoiding a double glove solution which to me feels a bit cumbersome. Good to have options though.
I agree, that is exactly what I ended up with 😊 I pretty much always bring the jacket, it is such a game-changer, and also have heated grips that work superbly. Have been good with that down to 4 degrees Celcius 😊
Good review. I have never tried heated socks. I have not felt I needed them, but I could see they could be nice. I use a heated base layer or jacket a lot.
I just started watching your channel and I enjoy them all. Norway is definitely my favourite. Being Canadian I know what it's like to stay warm on the ride. Don't forget the hot chocolate. Best wishes and a Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank you! You must be used to even lower temperatures than what we get in Norway. Canada looks amazing, I hope to travel there one day! And yes, the hot chocolate or cup of tea at the end of a cold day is such a treat 😄
Morning Off She Goes. I'm playing catch-up so I don't know if you will read this. No doubt but motorcycle equipment has come along way since my day. Summer a sleeping bag tied up in a heavy duty builders bag to keep it dry in our British summer. They pray the guy carrying everyone tents and camping equipment didn't break down before he reached the camp sight. Winter ex army thurmal long-johns silk incerts inside your gloves and thurmal socks and that was it. That's probably why I've got arthritis in my knees and hands 😅. But we took the cold and the rain coz we just loved riding no matter the weather. Safe riding girl and I enjoy watching your vids. Thanks for sharing... 👌😊
I like this gear! When I had very little money I made my own heated liner and it worked well! One day on the way back from work in the snow I was falling asleep due to the excessive heat (I was becoming a human toastie). I stopped and umplugged the liner. Definately a great idea to have different heat settings.
That is very creative to make that yourself, well done! This piece of gear sure has been a game-changer for riding in colder conditions. It have not made me drowsy yet though 😃
Awesome gear. Have to look in to this. Thanks for the presentation. And please let us know when you are in Switzerland. Coffe; lunch and/or sinner is on us.
@@OffSheGoesADV Please do let us know. Especially where you plan to enter and where to exit. Because we would not want yo to get caught up in the tourist traps. We want you to have a fantastic time here.
Heated handlebars is the best investment i did on my bike. It is permanently installed and can be used whenever you like. No need for any plugs and wires or special gloves when using it. But i can see the use for a heated jacket.........i'm biking in the north of Norway. :)
I do have heated grips as well! 😇 But the jacket is next level. Adds so much comfort on below 10 degrees kind of days. I remember riding from Varangerbotn to Vardø in June 2021 and it was 8 degrees, SO windy and freezing, I promised my self to invest in heated gear for the next season that day 😂
never used heated gear before, always layer up using my hiking gear, never felt the cold even at minus 6 celcius riding a few hours, think it all comes down to the correct clothing and endurance of the person, ex-military and based in Faslane Scotland, guess the cold doesn't affect me as much, when you camp though, you can't wear this stuff, so get down to your pants, sleeping bag liner, silk, and the correct sleeping bag, then in the morning layer up. remember electrics can fail on heated gear, so take some extra baselayers etc... for back up
Hey there! Unfortunately I have always been the type to get really cold really fast, so this helps me a lot 😊 I always wear pure wool in layers underneath my riding gear. Even my underwear is from pure wool, and I ofcourse bring proper clothings to put on in case this jacket breaks. After all I only use it when I ride. But when there is an option that can easily keep me more comfortable and SAFE I am happy to use it 😄 Getting col also means slower reactions both in your mind and muscles. I dont absolutely need this jacket, but I am very happy to have it 😊
@Off She Goes have you tried sealskinz socks, they're super warm and waterproof and windproof, lined with merino wool. Yes definitely, always important to keep warm for reaction times, as it can seriously affect your mind and body.
thank you for this review. 😊 Just one question: when the jacket is not in use, can you roll it up so it as tiny as possible and doesn’t need too much room in a bag? - Or will the heating get damaged?
Yes, you can roll it up as tight as you want! There is actually a small pocket on the back of the jacket made so it can be rolled up and packed "inside itself" if that makes sense :)
