A small tip: Be very careful in gas station parking lots, especially after a rain.
They are often times very slick from spilled fuel, and both braking and accelerating can be dangerous.

Thanks for the tip we learned it rough way 😅 My friend's moped flyed under him literally, i cant even imagine what a 1000cc bike would do.

When you pull the clutch that kills the bike right

only if you don't give it gas when in gear bro, so if you don't gas it in 1st-6th gear but it won't kill the engine/turn it off if you pull the clutch in neutral, it might just slowly start to creep or move the bike forward. Hope that helps you.@@juliodiaz4493

@@juliodiaz4493doesn't kill it, but it disconnected the engine from the front wheel, meaning your pretty much in neutral Untill it's let out again.

I'm in my 40s and decided I want to make my dream about riding a motorcycle come true ;] I'm very nervous as I've never sat on one, and licence tests in Europe are very hard to pass. Your videos are very helpful !

  • @yurygaltykhin6271

Good video, but three important things are still missing:
    1) The motorcycle is heavy. Even the lightest and smallest one is of excess of 250 pounds! You briefly mentioned that, but the new rider must be aware of that so not to drop it out of surprise. I myself nearly dropped the bike the first time I got on it because I didn’t expect it to be THAT heavy.
    2) High speed turns are made by primarily counter steering. This is extremely important. So many people don’t know that. I almost crashed during one of my first rides because I forgot about it and I was essentially steering the bike the opposite way! I think this must be stressed several times to let people remember that very important aspect of riding.
    3) Even though the controls of the motorcycle are way more simple than of the car, a short walkthrough around all the controls like turn indicators, lights, and horn would be not only entertaining, but also helpful to show the riders-to-be that there’s nothing insanely difficult or complicated there.
In any case, thank you for the video, and it was enjoyable to watch even not for the beginner. Cheers from Vietnam!

DUDE, I bought a Himalayan and it’s 450+ lbs. Freaked me out. It’s still taking some getting used to but I had to find the center of gravity and acclimate to the weight. When you see old ladies doing it you know you’ll be fine.

    • @boblachance7014
      @boblachance7014 3 месяца назад +5

I was going to mention many of the points you bring up. Your first point is something people don't take into consideration. No two bikes have the same center of gravity. Your second point on counter-steering is always overlooked in the how-to videos on riding motorcycles for beginners. All you need to do is put a little pressure on the handlebar on the direction your turning and the bike starts turning. Also, some older bikes have a manual choke that you have to pull out until it is warmed up. No two bikes are alike and each have their unique riding features. I've ridden many thousands of miles on various bikes and you never can take the bike for granted. You have to respect the power the bike has or if you become lazy you can be seriously hurt if your are a careless rider. I've written bikes over 40+ years. I always ride like I'm invisible. I enjoyed your comment.

So thanks for your video, love how you say its ok to just get used to the weight and the feel.
But also at about 10min u have something that really hits it for me, you say torque? I am struggling that this bike wants to go just at idle it feels..
My suz didnt do that. This is making me nervous for some reason.
Guess my brain just needs to catch up with this or something…
I’m walking this bike way more than I should.

Don't know how I got here, but i'm glad I did. Thanks for the awesome lecture. I still need to pratice, because my first reaction is grabbing the throttle. Going for an electric motorcycle.

10/10, just recently bought a CBR500R and was extremely apprehensive with riding, I was getting that stall-jerk from N -> 1. Finally did a few laps and stops around a church lot, WAY more confident now. Really appreciate the vid man.

@@ryanching12 Love it, throttle is a bit sensitive and takes a bit to get used to, but what bike doesn't? I'd recommend it if you can get a used one that hasn't been ridden into the ground, or New if you can afford it!

Love your bike. I am in the process of getting a Scout Rogue prior to taking my MSF class. I love the bike, but have never actually rode a motorcycle. I want to have one when I complete my course in June so I am not waiting a month and can get right into enhancing my skills in the church parking lot across the street.
