I'm 50 and am going through perimenopause. I'm on medication-assisted treatment for previous painkiller dependency, and my biggest side effect to the MAT has always been heat intolerance. So it was hard to tell where the medication left off and the menopausal heat symptoms came on. Then I figured the pandemic was adding to my feeling depressed. And I suppose it was, but then the crying spells started. Usually they're triggered by nostalgia (childhood memories, songs I love and connect with pleasant events), and they come and go quickly. This video is helpful and reassuring. So is having my mother's support, and my husband's understanding. Talking about the changes really helps.
Hi Good to hear that you've found the video helpful, thank you. Also getting support from loved ones can be worth its weight in gold! Best Wishes Eileen

I’m so sorry to hear about your symptoms and how distressing it is for you. There are lots of practical things you can do about the anxiety, such as staying well hydrated, avoiding all caffeine/ alcohol, and getting out in to the daylight every day. It’s often hard to get started with more self-care when you feel so bad, but every small step you make will help. If your mood is really bad, you may like to check with your doctor or see a naturopathic practitioner who can take a detailed history and design you an individualised programme.

Thank you for this video! I was searching RUclips for any shred of comfort and I found it. I'm 47 and believe I am perimenopausal?? I have noticed extremes in my emotions lately and knew it was probably "The Change" but I did not know how utterly overwhelming the emotions could be. And I work a lot, so unfortunately, a lot of my "outbursts" have occurred at work, which is mortifying. Mostly just co-workers walking in to my office to ask a question and finding me weeping at my desk. One time though, about 3 months ago, I raised my voice during a conversation with not just a co-worker but one of my superiors. Even as it was happening I was mortified but couldn't stop myself. It took a few days but I finally found the courage to apologize to them but I still feel anxious about that interaction. I'm sure everyone thinks I hate my job or something, which couldn't be further from the truth. For the first time in my working life I actually love what I do and am excited to do it and am really good at it, or at least I was excited until about 6 months ago, since then any excitement in life feels hard to find. I still love my job but I am worried about what my co-workers and boss must be thinking with my moodiness and tears. Then I beat myself up the whole night/forever for how I handled myself during the day and that makes me cry more and intrusive thoughts about being fired creep in. This was the first video I saw that addressed dealing with menopause in the workplace and I am so grateful. I was seriously starting to wonder if women just quit their jobs when this happens or how the hell do we get through this?! Your video gave me some solid action items on how to manage my menopause and even suggestions on how to get these tough conversations started with co-workers and loved ones. Thank you!
