    He didnt talk about why it would be a classic, instead he talked more about ye and the drake beef. An album isn't a classic just cause of production and other loosely connected beefs. Where there any running themes? How great was the lyricism? What changed from his last album? Why is the short run time important to its classic status?
    This was not a good explanation of why it was a good album, it was good but ye and drake dont matter more than pusha's delivery, rhyming and lyricism. Ye's production is important but his verse on what would Meek do isnt a highlight. The album is good, not a classic. It wasnt important to the culture, it didn't change anything and there were a few duds on it as well.

    • @AQGOAT24
      @AQGOAT24 5 лет назад +14

      Did you listen to the video? They don't mention the beef until 4:00. Even then it was in reference to the content of infrared. Next time you make a critique at least watch the video. Even then they came back to come back baby at the end.
      I will say this won't be a mainstream classic, but hip-hop heads will remember this projects for years to come. This will have a cult figure status imo.

    • @LeoORyan
      @LeoORyan 5 лет назад

      @@AQGOAT24 At the halfway point, he starts to talk about what would Meek do and from that point on, it is mostly about kanye (trump) and the drake & pusha beef. The first half of the video is fine except for the fact he wastes time with talking about pusha before this album without talking about what those albums were and why this album's run time matters. He acts like his last 2 albums were not worth talking about and he made a evolution without talking about that change. As a Pusha fan, although it was a good album, this album in terms of style, persona or lyrical prowess, it didn't change my opinion of him. The only difference between Daytona and King Push was run time, beat selection and disjointed themes. King Push is thematic in beat selection and subject matter. Daytona isn't, although I love the production and Pusha's performance throughout the album, it felt like nothing carried over, almost every song could've been on any album. Kanye did a great job on the boards but a terrible job as the executive producer.
      To get back to the video above, he acts like this was first album in this style which isnt true and doesn't bring up past outside of the fact that there is past work, doesn't explain the importance of the runtime, then talks about if you know, you know and the games we play in depthly (best part of the video), but gets unfocused for the rest as he talks about kanye and trump and then the drake beef more than he talks about the rhymes of what would meek do and infrared and acts like those those things were the best things about the album when that has nothing to do with the quality of the tracks. Video gets a 1/5, Daytona gets a 3.5/5.

    • @LeoORyan
      @LeoORyan 5 лет назад

      @AQGOAT24 i did focus too much about the 2nd half of the video, good looks. But to refute your gripes specifically, he didn't use the drake beef to highlight the strengths of the song, just to segway into the effects of the song. And I wasn't just talking about the the drake beef but also the emphasis on Kanye and his trump shit instead of quickly talking about the quality of the verse and then moving on cause the verse wasn't good enough to warrent it being treated as a major highlight of the album. And why will this album be remembered for Hip-Hop Heads? It didn't change anything, it was good lyrically and production wise but what else makes it special? XXXTENTACION did the short album first, so that can't be it. What makes this album special? The disrespectful album art which is Whitney Houston's ACTUAL bathroom at the peak of her drug addiction? What is special about this album? The same old (but excellent) but loosely connected drug raps?

    • @BrendanMacWade
      @BrendanMacWade 5 лет назад +8

      @@michaeljordan-jackson-tyso2243 only 70k bought it actually. The other shit was just streams. Kendrick went platinum just off of SALES not streams. Then went platinum again off of streams. Oh and for scorpion 2nd week only 15k bought it. Plus this shit was a double album so each stream counted as 2 on a album with 20+ tracks. If it was shorter it woulda sold half cause less streams so. And yeah i actually expected your reply to say shit bout sales. Thats all Drake fans care about. Even then they dont get the sales right. Nobody payin for this shitty drake album. Everyone just streamin the 5 good songs that are bangers.

    You really think you'll get back to this 21 minutes album in 10 years, listen to that Dis Track and go "Wow, yeah, that was the shhh." ?
    'Cos I don't. It's good, might even be great. But not a classic.
    ( Or maybe you mean Instant Classic as in Instant Coffee : It's not actually one but it'll do for now. )

    the only reason people are calling this a classic is because he torched Drake one week after releasing it. nobody would care about this album if he didn't diss drake or if drake didn't responded

      sk8kidize don’t get me wrong the album is fucking great, but it’s really not that much better than Black Thoughts releases or the Book of Ryan. Those albums got slim to none recognition, and Pushas was only elevated by the diss tracks
