Man,I choke up every time I see that Daytona clip of DW saying " I sure hope Dale is okay" . You are a LEGEND .
Me to, tough day. Thanks 👍
Michael Jackson it was a rough start for DW. Even though Michael Won...it was tough to witness the loss of one of his buds who was also his brother’s boss.
I do to
Right there with ya, good buddy
Yeah I was six when that accident happened and il never forget it and how emotional my mom was and then I remember the next race the had this montage memorial video before the race and it was the song Yellow by Coldplay and it made me cry because it was sad and my mom was sad and it brought up old trauma because my brother had got killed on his Kawasaki Ninja just a few years before. It's weird how no matter how young certain moments in time can be so real that you can almost taste it even if it was 20 some years ago it's like a core memory
I hope NASCAR makes him a two time hall of famer.
After all those entertaining years in the booth he truly deserves it. :)
Agreed!!!
Man..as a blk man I been watching NASCAR since 1969 Daytona 500..thank you DW..one of the best..2020..the first thing I said where's DW..didnt know you retired...thank you..and let go racing boys..😍😍
No one was cutting onions on this one. I was just straight up crying😂
Yeah in going to miss the boogity boogity boogity.......😟 !!! But so glad for the guy 😀
Lol heck yeah. Gonna miss him in the booth!
😂😂😂 Amazing
Me too man.
Darrell is a true treasure of the sport. Glad to still have him as a peace of the glory days of nascar to talk about it
Enjoy chapter #3 DW. Be blessed, stay blessed. 🙏🏁
#3...
Stevie Waltrip - God Bless You...
Man If we all had a Stevie, we’d have a better world
The man DW thanks for everything. No 3 no 17 no Nascar.
Big PROPS to DW. Thank you D for being in my memories.
2 years later and It still gets me
For Stevie to put it like she did and 50 years of Doing what he loved and her standing by him threw it all is the true legacy. Testimony of what a true woman these days should be all about. Not money or fame and fortune but to see each other succeed in what we want to do. She is who young women need to hear more from.
That was very honorable. I ❤ it!!!
Young women shouldn't be tied to their men, they should be strong and independent, her kind of thinking is rapidly decreasing.
@@BoleDaPole A strong and independent woman doesn't give you babies or sandwiches, they just give bullshit.
@@BoleDaPole you are a slug so eat some salt
A testament to two people who truly love each other. A testament to two people who are willing to fight through the hard times to experience the good times together
One of the last of the true legends of NASCAR 🏁🏁🏁
DW, you will be greatly missed. Boogity boogity boogity - let's get on to chapter 3 ya'll!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Beautiful Stevie. Well said☺
A great American story. All NASCAR fans, young and old, owe DW a huge debt of gratitude. You will be sorely missed Darrell. Happy Trails.
Thank you for everything DW.
I sure will miss you Darrel.
Thank you DW for all the years of the entertainment. I will miss you
Man I grew up on DW saying his catch phrase every race. Gonna miss him in the booth.
BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY LETS GO RACING BOYS
He was in the CRas movies
@@Novusa u mean Cars
Thank you Darrell, your an absolute legend, we're going to miss You very much!
Nascar will not be the same without dw. We love everything you have done for our sport it’s time to go to Franklin and Boogity trying to keep up with those grandkids thank u Darrel. The world needs more like you.
You're a Legend DW, glad I came along while you were in your prime.
"Follow me in Tennessee "haaaaa!
Best of health to you and Stevie people of faith that are simply down to earth good folks and I am glad to witness this his bit of history.
We love you Mr owensboro! Thanks for the memories!
It's been a long road from Owensboro to the big time.God bless you,D.W.
This is amazing 😢
DW, you made my eyeballs sweat. So proud of you for everything you have done for NASCAR and your family. We all love you, and will dearly miss you in the FOX booth! Happy retirement, Darrell!
thank you Darrell Waltrip for the great memories
God bless you always
Gonna miss DW calling the race but I'm glad he graced NASCAR for so long. God bless you DW and family. Enjoy retirement! (Maybe get a contract to call part of the Darlington throwback race?!)
I literally get goosebumps from this.
Im 63 and grew up watching DW and all the guys and the all the new cars that kept coming along... i'll bet this aint the last of DW's story with NASCAR... I HOPE ;)
Thank you dw great driver great man!!!
Wow. What a letter & personal life summary.
beautiful all around
😢🎉🙌💚
DW was my favorite driver as a kid. Some people probably have no clue how dominant this guy was in the early 80’s. One of the best there ever was for sure.
Unfortunately for NASCAR another personality gone. It's not the racing or cars that's wrong with NASCAR today, it's neglecting the roots and losing the personalities that built it. Best wishes to DW and thanks for the memories!
Well say bye bye to the roots, California boy with no southern in him at all Harvick is going to be the next voice of nascar.
NASCAR was definitely a southern thing but today it's these huge conglomerates that own 4 & 5 car teams and drivers that are more paid endorsers than racers.
DW is one of my favorites drivers and when he won the Daytona 500 that day I was a big fan of his. He is truly a champion in and out of a race car.
Just now settled in, gonna miss ya DW!
This was so beautiful. Jesus and their love.
Gonna miss DW thank you for all the commentary in NASCAR for all the years 😢
THANKS DW YOU ARE THE MAN!
I've given up on ever finding true love but if it ever existed, it does right here with Darrell and Stevie. All the best to you both now and forever!
THANK YOU DW
DW you are awesome but man your wife Stevie is a very beautiful person in every way. Two lucky to have and keep each other through the last 50 yrs with more to come. I believe success starts with two good people sticking together through the good and bad. Just a wonderful story it really is. The greats always shine through
Your buddy dale part got me
DW, you where a racer, a awesome family man , a man of faith, take it man .
Happy laps with chapter 3 thanks for the memories.
I cried! Congrats DW on 50 years of passionate living. Thanks for the memories.
THANK YOU DW AND ALL THE BEST TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
Someone cutting onions around here...
This is a beautiful and moving video. I dont think Stevie wrote it all ("dogged") tho it is a real good summation and tribute.
I'll miss you DW Sir. You are one of the main reasons i got hooked on this sport in the first place and while i'll always love racing, theres things i cant stand in Nascar nowadays - but, like DW, maybe im just getting old(er) and lookin thru those 'rose-tinted specs' for something that aint there.
Hope retirement is good to ya Mr. Waltrip. It will be hard to replace a personality as big as yours!!
Every man needs a wife like Stevie!
Oh God this got me emotional
Such a great story about Darrell from his wife I am so lucky to have heard the same story from Darrell himself when he came to Springfield Mo the story about flipping his car her front yard Love ya Darrell

Farewell D.W. We will miss you, my first model car was your old tide stock car. I wish I could go back and take in everything a little more. Only the good fade away!!!
Good luck dw with your retirement from the booth thanks for the memories
God Bless you Darrell Waltrip. God has watched over you and made sure you won that Daytona 500. Give all the credit to God brother! Cause he loves ya :)
Love ❤️
What a nice family.Enjoy Chapter 3 DW
What type of person dislikes this I mean really?? Cmonn now
Straight up dick heads. People live miserable lives, and want to rub some of that off on everybody. Even if it's just with a thumbs down.
Cale Yarborough fans, maybe??
Died in the wool Cale Yarbourough fans might be the only ones I reckon.
It's one thing to not like Darrell as a person, but it's another when you don't like the video someone made of his wife reading and writing a letter she wrote to him thanking him for being a positive part of her life. That's just plain disrespectful.
sounds like they prefer NBC especially with Rick Allen
She was wild one time wish she still was
Great call Stevie
DW and his wife are the finest people in NASCAR I liked old jaws when everybody hated him
Darrell has a very sweet wife.
What comes to mind when you think about the Waltrip racing legacy?
Did you like the race?
A lot of entertainment: behind the wheel & on the mic. We’re gonna miss DW very much...
I think DW needs a movie that might help bring back the sport of nascar
Commentating on Mikey’s win at Daytona
Boggity Boggity Boggity....For all my life. Those words keep popping up every time I watch a NASCAR race
That my guy right there!!
As a young driver coming up through the ranks he beat The King and out ran The Silver Fox in the heat of their battles.
To his feuding with Dale and Rusty he was a class act man and a class act driver on and off the field.
I always knew he should've never went independent.
An old rival needed a great driver and DW proved to the world he could still drive right to very end.
He was a brilliant man with a brilliant mind and a great problem solver with his thought process.
It's that perfect balance with determination that made him such a force on the track.
He should've been one of those drivers with a 110 wins.
I can say as a young boy born in 70 I got to watch a young man evolve NASCAR but also that amazing man evolve into the great person he is today.
Thank you Jaws for being consistent with NASCAR all these years as you've done something no else had done.
You have time to be a Grandpa now, DW. Something you will enjoy more than racing and broadcasting.
NASCAR is a Southern sport and has been since day 1. It’s only fitting to have a Southern flair to everything regarding it. From the family aspect surrounding drivers children playing together while “Daddy was working” Drivers wives keeping stats on their husbands so they can be a part of the team. Even a Southern voice behind the microphone. We all remember the soothing and relatable voice of Ned Jarrett and likewise the calmness and clarity of Benny Parsons. In 2001 we got an earful of the Mouth of the South and nothing was going to be the same. Thanks Stevie for letting him come out to play just one more time.
Um, this made me cry
what a career.
I love the story about him wrecking his car in Stevie's parents front yard.
Darrell: "I was getting a police escort."
Stevie: "Aren't they supposed to be in front of the car?"
LMAO!
