Heard this song live a few years ago, and those five minutes may have been the most important minutes of my life. Realizing my home town has changed, or I have changed, and that those safe and familiar people and places are no longer what they were when I was a kid was heartbreaking. That was one of those moments when you know your life just changed in a moment. Moved out of my home town that year, and since then I have grown and learned so much more than I thought would have been possible. My home, my wife, and my daughter are direct results of that moment. I'm so glad TBT recorded their cover; I love Iris' version, but I'll cherish this one for the rest of my life.
@@flapjackid couldn't have picked a better song to end that show with. Used to watch it with the ol Man when I was ....however old? lol... Now my kids watch it.
@@deadbilly667 Cicely is a state of mind! I found the whole series with the original music so now I watch, in order, one episode every evening with the dog.
Your cousin live is the 8th wonder of the world. Unbelievable talent. I make it a point to see TBT at Red Rocks every year…this year will be no different.
Still smiling from the September show in St. Augustine, Florida. I loved the entire set and wanted to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication to your music. We all appreciate you so much for providing the soundtrack for our life and times. Peace brothers!! Ryan, you’re still my favorite!!😮😅😊
I have loved this song for years, such a sad and beautilf song, and TBT made me love it more. From a former Duluthian living in St. Paul, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Now I sit on the porch and watch the lightning-bugs fly But I can't see too good, I got tears in my eyes I'm leaving tomorrow but I don't want to go I love you my town, you'll always live in my soul..
And you know the sun's settin' fast And just like they say nothing good ever lasts Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover 'Cause your heart's bound to die Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town Goodnight Up the street beside that red neon light That's where I met my baby on one hot summer night He was the tender and I ordered a beer It's been forty years and I'm still sitting here But you know the sun's settin' fast And just like they say nothing good ever lasts Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover 'Cause your heart's bound to die Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town Goodnight It's here I had my baby's and I had my first kiss I've walked down Main Street in the cold morning mist Over there is where I bought my first car It turned over once but then it never went far And I can see the sun settin' fast And just like they say nothing good ever lasts Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover 'Cause your heart's bound to die Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town Goodnight I buried my Mama and I buried my Pa They sleep up the street beside that pretty brick wall I bring them flowers about every day But I just gotta cry when I think what they'd say If they could see how the sun's settin' fast And just like they say nothing good ever lasts Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover 'Cause your heart's bound to die Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town Goodnight Now I sit on the porch and watch the lightning-bugs fly But I can't see too good, I got tears in my eyes I'm leaving tomorrow but I don't want to go I love you my town, you'll always live in my soul But I can see the sun's settin' fast And just like they say nothing good ever lasts Well, go on I gotta kiss you goodbye but I'll hold to my lover 'Cause my heart's 'bout to die Go on now and say goodbye to my town, to my town Can't you see the sun's settin' down on my town, on my town Goodnight, goodnight
Born in Ely, when I choose a Home, it will be a small town in Mn. Love My minnesota band trampled by turtles. Right now I'm stuck in the outskirts. Minnesota girl forever.
Sending love from Seneca Country, Silver Creek Village, along the wooded shoreline of the Erie, deep in the wild mild west of the New York State of Wine 🍇🍷🍇
I can’t. I can’t go on. It goes so fast. We don’t have time to look at one another. I didn’t realize. All that was going on in life, and we never noticed. Take me back - up the hill - to my grave. But first: Wait! One more look. Good-by, Good-by, world. Good-by, Grover’s Corners. Mama and Papa. Good-bye to clocks ticking. And Mama’s sunflowers. And food and coffee. And new-ironed dresses and hot baths. And sleeping and waking up. Oh, earth, you’re too wonderful for anybody to realize you. Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? - every, every minute? Emily / Our Town by Thornton Wilder
I don’t know who you’re talking about but bluegrass sounds like Billy Strings, Leftover Salmon, Greensky Bluegrass, Infamous Stringdusters, even little bands like Kind Country and Them Coulee Boys blow these guys away as much as you blow your brother.

Everything about TBT touches my heart.. I love you guys so much.
I miss the sea smoke rising off Lake Superior ❤️
This song always reminds me of Northern Exposure. And a part of life I'm fond of & miss.... Thx boys, it took me back, like good songs often do
I picture Maggie & Chris dancing, and all the wonderful characters in that show. I miss it too.

This is my cousins band Ryan Young is my cousin and he is an awesome fiddler just like Charlie Daniels
He shreds I’m a huge fan
That’s awesome
I am happy you are proud of your cousin, I do enjoy listening to him.
He's a beast. I've loved these guys since the first time I heard them out in Colorado back in the day.
Your cousin live is the 8th wonder of the world. Unbelievable talent. I make it a point to see TBT at Red Rocks every year…this year will be no different.
In my opinion, one of the very few covers that exceeds the original and the original was awesome. Full disclosure; I am a massive TBT fan 😀
This is the kind of stuff Country Radio should be playing.
oh Yes - in Scotland and I love J Prine & Iris- & this song - then I find this version by accident 15 out of 10
You guys gotta come to CANADA. Great music👍

Better than original!
But no
Their music touches my heart..
Heard this song first live by TBT 4th of July weekend 2019 at Bayfront Park in Duluth. I've seen TBT live about 7-8 times. My absolute favorite band.
This is a favorite group of my nephew,. He would help them with lyrics when the were in Duluth!

You guys take songs from sublime to Divine. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I'm leaving tomorrow but I don't want to go
I love you my town, you'll always live in my soul..

You guys do some wonderful covers.
And you know the sun's settin' fast
And just like they say nothing good ever lasts
Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover
'Cause your heart's bound to die
Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town
Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town
Goodnight
Up the street beside that red neon light
That's where I met my baby on one hot summer night
He was the tender and I ordered a beer
It's been forty years and I'm still sitting here
But you know the sun's settin' fast
And just like they say nothing good ever lasts
Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover
'Cause your heart's bound to die
Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town
Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town
Goodnight
It's here I had my baby's and I had my first kiss
I've walked down Main Street in the cold morning mist
Over there is where I bought my first car
It turned over once but then it never went far
And I can see the sun settin' fast
And just like they say nothing good ever lasts
Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover
'Cause your heart's bound to die
Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town
Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town
Goodnight
I buried my Mama and I buried my Pa
They sleep up the street beside that pretty brick wall
I bring them flowers about every day
But I just gotta cry when I think what they'd say
If they could see how the sun's settin' fast
And just like they say nothing good ever lasts
Well, go on now and kiss it goodbye but hold on to your lover
'Cause your heart's bound to die
Go on now and say goodbye to our town, to our town
Can't you see the sun's settin' down on our town, on our town
Goodnight
Now I sit on the porch and watch the lightning-bugs fly
But I can't see too good, I got tears in my eyes
I'm leaving tomorrow but I don't want to go
I love you my town, you'll always live in my soul
But I can see the sun's settin' fast
And just like they say nothing good ever lasts
Well, go on I gotta kiss you goodbye but I'll hold to my lover
'Cause my heart's 'bout to die
Go on now and say goodbye to my town, to my town
Can't you see the sun's settin' down on my town, on my town
Goodnight, goodnight

Gut punched by Turtles.
Hey did you guys see the graffiti around town
about some dude called "Turtle Boy"?
Nice but it lacks the heart an soul of Iris!
Iris Dement has a horrible nails down a blackboard voice. This is better
Bubblegum bluegrass!
Guess you don't know much about music, Luke Bryon is probably more your style
