So strange as an Irishmen to see our songs sung by people far away no different than us. Because they clearly belong to these men and women. Thank god for music. One area when god, skin colour and any other material barrier still doesn’t matter yet.
Particularly since this isn't an irish song, it's a great folk song written by and about a guy living in Salford England. But I get what you mean, the jump that made this song popular ireland happened again here
Hands up if you think they should all professionally record this version!I imagine that would take a long time to mix/master and figure out who to release it under, but that'd be awesome.
yeah I thought that too as soon as I heard it (now one of my fav songs) Too record it wouldn't be that hard, they do this all the time, this is the rawness of this "Fresh Grass" As far as selling the single, each band would post on there website or what have you, iTunes etc... i would like to hear a lot more of this kinda of music..... it soothes the savage beasts
I think what I love most about this is seeing people much younger than me doing a song that I stumbled upon when i was much younger.. Nobody knew the song then even the Pogues version of it that i saw and fell in love with.. I was just a young TV producer .. doing what i was doing for fun... Not Money.. I think I got paid a six pack of beer for a Music Video I did for a band and a bottle Of Wine for a non profit training film I made for "crisis hotline" .... But I digress.. it is nice to see the youth have not lost their way.. gives me hope for the future... I would add ,watch out I have kids.. They think like their daddy!!! I am very proud of that and them ... There is hope for the future...
Dirty Old Town isn't a Pogues song. Its originally written and performed by Ewan MacColl, popularized originally by the Dubliners and again by the Pogues. Brilliant all the same!
It's not a cover of The Pogues, it's a cover of Ewan MacColl (James Miller), born in Manchester to Scottish parents. The song is about Manchester, where James was born. That aside, I can't get enough of the Turtles! Amazing band.
Great collaboration! First tbt show was Wu years 05? Minneapolis Same year as WIB ! All the way down to telluride bluegrass not long ago. Love listening to your guys music grow threw out the years. Thanks fellas, keep up the hard work!! ✌🏼️
He's our center half. He's our number 4. Watch him defend, and we watch him score. He'll pass the ball calm as you like. He's Virgil Van Djik. He's Virgil Van Djik.
Two of my favorite bands performing one of my favorite songs by another of my favorite bands. Well done, gentlemen.

@@theofakostas Lucia Turino of The Devil Makes Three. She's the one holding it down on that upright bass.

Here's the original dude, Ewan MacColl w/ Peggy Seeger ... ruclips.net/video/HusJQlsn_2M/видео.html
...and then The Pogues w/ Ewan's daughter Kirsty MacColl ... ruclips.net/video/mgauDsoIt7A/видео.html
Thank you.
And it wasn't even Ewan's best song.

I always thought it was about Salford, dunno where I got that notion
@@aidankeane8971 Salford comes under Manchester, apparently.

was that a "Cooper's moment to shine" clap at the beginning?
hahah I thought the same thing!
Sean Donovan with most microphones you have to clap to sync audio.
Scotland to Ireland to London to Ohio (with a little Appalachia thrown in) - wow!
Please post more videos!!
pogues? townes!
does anyone know if they've done a studio version of this? the cover is awesome, but it'd be better if the lyrics and instruments were more crisp.

or the devil makes thee trample turtles
Actually a Euan McColl song, but hey, if you're of a certain age you probably wouldn't know that.
Shane MacGowan wrote many great songs but that's a cover of a Ewan MacColl song
Was this not a cover anyway?I am sure it was by THE DUBLINERS ?
Hello from June 2024. It is still an utter travesty that I can't huck money at everyone involved to download this song so everyone gets paid.
Instead of trampled by the devil why not the devil makes turtles
That furniture doesn't go together well. At all. But the bands too, so...
